I have the Spigen Wallet, you're right it makes a terrible wallet and I had to remove one of the magnets as it kept the s-pen from working. Also the pockets went from finally broken in to way to loose really fast and it can no longer hold the phone at an angle but I have dropped my phone alot and sent it flying off of a moving car more than once but my phone is still in perfect shape. The faux leather makes it easy to hold and if all you need is your ID, credit card, hotel key, and a few bills then the case is perfect.

O and as an added bonus opening your phone case like a book feels fancy.

In my opinion, the cases that provide the best compromise between protection and minimal bulk are:

Spigen Slim Armor

Verus Thor

Otterbox Commuter

UAG

These cases are pretty slim, but I don't know how much shock/drop protection they offer compared to the ones listed above:

Spigen Neo Hybrid

Verus Iron Shield This one is harder to find. Hands down the most beautiful case in the list. The TPU band is aluminum, and it gives it a really solid feel. The rubber case is well designed and has a very nice look to it. I am using one right now, but I think I might go back to my Otterbox or Slim Armor. If someone would like it, PM me maybe we can work out a deal.

I've used the Commuter series on all of my previous Galaxy devices, and they have always provided excellent drop protection. I've never suffered a cracked screen after a drop in 3 different devices using a Commuter. There have been more than one drop where I couldn't believe there was no damage to the phone.

The Slim Armor is very similar to the Commuters, the build quality isn't as "nice" imo, but for the price it is a really good option. I've never tried the UAG or the Thor. Not sure I like the look of the UAG, but I may try it out anyway just for review purposes. I do plan to pick up a Thor in the next couple of weeks if I move the Iron Shield along to someone else.

I go back and forth on the screen protectors. I've never had an issue with scratches on these screens, and this is my 4th galaxy device since 2010. I had a tempered glass on my S4, cracked them twice with just normal daily use, stopped using anything after removing the 2nd one. Put a screen protector on it for the last two months I used it. Gouged the screen protector dropping it out of a treestand once, but the screen was not damaged at all. I have been going without a screen protector on my Note 4 so far.

I can never find a case that protects really well without adding extra bulk to a phone that is already huge, so I always go with wallet cases. If it's going to be big, might as well add some functionality in addition to protection.

This one is pretty standard and looks sturdy: http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Leather-Feature-SM-N910S-SM-N910C/dp/B00MJ9VGYO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1412714919&sr=8-6&keywords=note+4+wallet+case

This one is gorgeous (I'm a girl) and probably the one I'm going to get: http://koreahallyu.asia/all-products/nobility-handmade-classic-wallet-case-for-galaxy-note-4/

EDIT: As for non-wallet cases, this one is really cheap and doesn't add as much extra weight/bulk: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NP8YXMA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3UHET3R4BMB0S&coliid=I33JHWGZKI08O8&psc=1

I found this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MHBRL6G/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_-weBwbSWJ71J0 I haven't got it yet but it looks even better than Samsung's case so I can't wait. I'd also recommend this screen protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RHOT4NQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_bzeBwbTYN866T I haven't gotten this either but the reviews are the best out of all of them imo

I'm been pretty happy with the plastic version of the Verus case. I can answer anyone's questions about it.

I have the Thor Gray model. It looks pretty classy in person though obviously not as nice as metal.

Ordered a Tough Armor and Strong Flex last night and they just shipped today.

I have never had tempered glass on any of my phones, but I decided to give it try after reading a lot about it here and on another Note 4 forum. When I tried to order the Spigen glass though, it was unavailable so I ordered one from Bear Motion. Their Note 3 glass got good enough reviews for me to give it a shot. I just hope it doesn't mess with the fingerprint scanner.

This is something that helped me out today. My uncle wanted to transfer a ton of pictures he took on his vacation from his Note 4 to his new Galaxy Tablet without needing a computer. So I was able to easily transfer the pictures with this because of OTG support. It's also helpful if you just want to transfer files to and from your computer without a cable.

u/Dove_of_Doom · 2 pointsr/galaxynote4

I have the Verus Thor case. The contours make it easy to hold and comfortable in my hands. I haven't actually ever dropped my phone, but this case feels really sturdy. I like the style too. I don't consider it bulky, but some might. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MHBRL6G/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_.NZmxbMNPDT3X

ooo.... yeah so I bought the Amazon 129.99 pro card, and I'm waiting for it to ship... what would be the best way to go about price matching? Who knows when that card is going to ship, rather just cancel if I can price match online

this is the card I bought: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O1M21H8/

I make gaming videos and I usually use my Note 4 as a facecam. The recording quality is amazing especially with smooth recording turned on in video mode (now FHD 60p on Lollipop). For tripod use I use an attachment to be able to mount my phone (square jellyfish)

But here's a video you can use for reference:

Here's a link for the Square Jellyfish tripod mount:

And finally a view of my setup:

*Note: the microphone (AT-2020) has not been used in any of my videos. So you can get a feel of the quality of the Note 4's microphone

Galaxy Note 4 Case, ACEABOVE Slim Leather Protective Stand Case For Samsung Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910S / SM-N910C] (Black) by AceAbove http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NANBMD8/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_wp6oub0MSQYAR

That's the one I found. I ordered it. Should get to me in a few weeks.

I would rather have one that flips open from the bottom (as opposed to flipping from the side like this one), but I can't find any of those.

There are also some wallet ones on Amazon, but I'm not interested in those.

Hey, if you find any others, will you please let me know?

u/frescani · 3 pointsr/galaxynote4

I imagine one of the wallet types would be a better bet for this. Wider base, more stability. Here are several.

I've been using this case for over a year with no issues. The part I like is the plastic cover with the kick stand adds another layer of protection but it is also easily removable if you need a smaller form factor.

u/S0UNDH0UND · 4 pointsr/galaxynote4

I have that case and the Spigen Tough Armor Case which is fantastic at protecting my phone. And the Kickstand is very sturdy for me.

If you have a Verizon Note 4, this is a Supcase with the right hole setup. Its a solid case, and it has protection in all the right spots. Really doesn't add much weight or girth to the phone, and it's plenty grippy.

Verizon note 4 here. My charger died on me within 1 month of using it. I called samsung, they'll send you an email with shipping label, and you have to wait like 2 weeks. It is terrible. I bought this with Prime cuz I couldnt wait, works just like the fast charger.

Oh also, if you register your device on the samsung site, you get a 50% off coupon, so I bought an extra battery with charger from the site for like 25 bucks. It has CHANGED MY LIFE. No anchoring to the charger ever. Highly recommend.

Closest thing i could think of is the sview case which has some stitching and its only $6

This thing isn't cheap ($44), but it beats the hell out of my film protectors so far. It extends very close to each edge, and has some painted areas that prevent any "halo" effect due to the edges of the screen being curved. It works well so far with the cheap Obliq case I've got on it. Might try the Samsung case soon. Might not work with tight cases that extend over the bezel.

Also available at AT&T stores for $48.

Problem I had with a couple of film protector was that they'd get little dented pen trails from the S-Pen, which made my screen show a bunch of tiny worm trails in bright light. No good.

You only need a USB OTG cable, connect both your phone and a portable hard drive to transfer, or get the OTG Flash Drive. Download a file manager app to transfer files

Well if you want something slim without the bulkiness, I suggest you check the following two products. They both provide some protection from minor falls BUT the lighter colors tend to get discolored after some usage. Since they are both made of rubber/silicone material, it should provide more grip than spigen tough armor imo.

You should get a warranty replacement on that charger.

Note 4 uses proprietary fast-charging tech called "Adaptive Fast Charging". Check the charger that came with your phone, it should have that written on it. Samsung has been out of stock on these since I got my phone in October. I wanted to use my discount code that came with my phone to get a spare to keep at the office but there hasn't been any for sale for almost 2 months now. It'd be a bummer to not even have the one that came with my phone to use. It charges my phone much faster than any other charger I've tried. I'd say about 4x as fast.

The Note 4 also supports any Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, well at least the Snapdragon version does. I'm not sure if the Exynos would, since it doesn't have a Qualcomm chipset. But if you have the Snapdragon variant, you can try this charger (I haven't used it, just found it on Amazon): http://amzn.com/B00OVD3FEU

This one, although the reviews are mixed. I figured with Amazon Prime, I've never had an issue with returning shitty products, so I'd give it a shot.

Edit: weird the link isn't formatting.

What case are you after?

I've bought a total of 5. eBay should be your goto I think.

  1. One of the Spigen clears at $14.99

  2. Samsung Note 4 S View Cover at $15.95 (was posted to ozbargain)

  3. Speck Candy Shell Grip at $37.48 ($34.49+$2.99 postage seems to have come from the UK)

    4 & 5.

Verus Galaxy Note 4 Case @ $12.99 USD

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Case, Protective Cover - Gray @ $8.01 USD

Came down to $40.08 AUD for both (via amazon conversion 31.12 AUD + 8.96 postage)

I've used the spigen one for the most of the time before switching it to the Speck one cos it was grippier, the other 3 cases are unused. Both the spigen and the speck have save my note 4 from ~2 or 3 drops (mostly from my phone sliding off the car seat onto the parking lot floor).

edit: i saw good reviews for the speck on this subreddit but amazon wouldn't post to Aus for it... I wanted a Samsung one and grabbed the Verus one at the same time too cos it was mentioned in the same thread. I also ordered a spigen fake i one of those armored ones with PU and a plastic shell but that can be had on aliexpress for cheaper ended up never using it anyway.

edit 2 : candy shell grip not candy shell
