Hi, walking on it now. Jamaica beach and walking away to be specific. Why? I need to go to the restroom. I know where the access path is and where to walk from there.

The ocean isn’t always an option.

That is my biggest and most useful tip.

If you have a cooler, bring a cooler.

If you have a small tent that isn’t hell to put up and take down, bring it.

If you have sandals, bring them but also stop by the Walmart and get everyone a pair of 98 cent flip flops. They’re in the back by the shoes. The display in the season section only have ones that are $3 and up. (I’ve had nice and good quality sandals until someone in college asked me why I buy a new pair every year and sometimes mid year. Sand is a bitch)

The AirBnB location will matter less than you think because if you’re not directly on the beach you should drive.

It would be good to set up on the beach with your kids for the day and if there’s another adult take shifts leaving with and without them. It will be easy and best.

Rain forest cafe is stupid and the food is not great. I can’t wait to go again.

Bring two small boxes of trash bags. Different colors. This color is trash. This color wet stuff and seashells.

Headlamps are good for any occasion.

Always go a mile or two below the speed limit anywhere on the island.

Bug spray.

If you want to get one of these, that would be good.

Don’t walk to the restroom (or any real non-sand path) with your cheap flip-flops. (This is a new tip)

Fanny packs are making a comeback

My favorite place to eat was sold in November which I’m happy about the owner was great and needs a new view.

Just fucking drive to the restroom and disregard all my advice because I’m dumb.

I second this, The Historic Pleasure Pier is fun for kids but no more historic than just standing on the Seawall.

You can't swing a dead cat without hitting something old or historic in Galveston. Most of which don't have websites, so until you go you just won't know. But when you get there you will have no shortage of things to do.

Read this, not super happy pregnancy material, but the best book about Galveston by far. This one is supposedly pretty good to, bit I haven't read it yet.

Good book. Interesting how the Cuban weather people predicted the storm would hit Galveston but the US Weather Bureau didn't believe them and prevented their predictions from being reported.
