You have plenty of good options!

The DestinyQuest series are big, modern gamebooks.

Sandboxer's _Red Dog has had pretty good reviews, although I haven't had chance to play it yet. It has a sci-fi theme.

The Shamutanti Hills_ is the first book of the Sorcery! series, which is a more advanced Fighting Fantasy spin-off series. You can play all four books as a campaign. You can also choose whether or not to play using the traditional combat system, or a magic system that has you actually needing to remember keywords to use spells :)

An oldie but goodie would be the _Blood Sword_ series. You can play these cooperatively, so you could adventure with your girlfriend, which sounds like it might work for you guys.

Of course, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is a classic, and a great introduction to gamebooks, but a little more simple than those above.

Let us know how you get on!

This book has over-the-top violence and (im)mature themes, so consider this your warning.

Hi all! I posted here a short while ago asking how short a gamebook can be - so here it is - a mini gamebook just under 50 pages and about 100 or so links. Its in the same world as my last, but with an episodic style about a failing journalist who finds more than she wanted underneath the local town museum. Ive put it on Amazon as print and ebook and hoping to make it free this weekend like I did with the last book, but I have to wait until it is 'released' on Friday. Do have a look and tell me what you think!

Hopefully the first in 4-5 histories. This one's quicker and more gruesome than Sandbrook so check it out if you like Lovecraft style horror 馃槂

I remember reading a baseball one when I was a kid that I enjoyed. You were the manager of a baseball team and had to make strategic decisions throughout the game. I think it might be this one: https://www.amazon.com/Playoff-Champion-Choose-Your-Adventure/dp/055356000X.

Thanks for the warning. I'm definitely a little scared of how much writing is involved; I've actually written an entire book before but it's a technical how-to, not a narrative:
