Okay, if you are using an SLP tank, you don't need another regulator. Get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/3Skull-Paintball-Thick-Remote-Line/dp/B000X2F5EQ except make sure that it has a QD adapter that is fit for your mag.
That's a pretty good idea.
I was thinking maybe get something like this that comes in a pair, and use the female part like you described.
I will probably use "chemical metal" (from Plastic Padding) as I have a tube lying around, it should manage 100 psi without problems.
Hopefully I can find a tank and regulator with a slide check (I think that's what they're called) that will fit my needs but I haven't really started looking yet. I did read the "Constructing an air rig" post on airsoftforum.com though so I'm pretty psyched.
Will probably start off with a GHK Western Arms M4 mag since I have too many of those lying around anyway. Unfortunately it seems very hard to get non-metric drill bits and taps here in Sweden.
