Op, correct me if I am wrong, but they look like the super awesome ones from Amazon - I keep them on hand as they are super useful. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001E1Y5O6/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sounds like you have a pretty good idea what needs to be done. Water should be the only liquid going into your body other than soup or other medicines. Too much sugar in juiced. Take the indomethecin with pure organic cherry juice. This is the one I find that helps the most. Good luck. I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Tart Cherry Extract pills worked better for me, easier to control. I like the tart cherry juice ok - especially mixed with things. But easy to over do, and a lot of sugar.

One thing that's helped me a lot are these pills:
https://www.amazon.com/Uric-Acid-Support-Supports-Quercetin/dp/B00T40H4RO/

But if I am out to get a cold drink at a convince store, I will always try to find something that has some kind of cherry juice (actual cherry juice) and without HFCS - sometimes I'm successful.. I also will tend to lean towards cherry desserts and other cherry flavored things when there are times to choose it. Whether it helps or not.

> It's hard not being able to go out to eat with co-workers etc.

See, I think where you're at is rock bottom, which on some level is good. I was there a month or so ago, you can find that post here. And while I won't argue that a vegetarian diet is ideal for gout, I personally feel you can live a normal, gout-free life without going vegetarian if you work out and make smarter meal choices.

You CAN go out to eat with your coworkers because there are better choices available:

  • Start looking at the salad menu.
  • Start looking at the healthy options, most restaurants list them.
  • Skip the appetizers.
  • Order vegetables as your side instead of fries.

Sure it sucks, but I think you're with me when I say that the pain you experience from a flare up is much worse than settling on a grilled chicken sandwich instead of a burger.

And I hate to say it, you'll probably experience a couple flare ups along the way because it's a learning experience. Pho is growing in popularity around here, and like you, I'm finding out that it's not something I can personally eat (likely because of beef bone broth), so oh well, I'll order something else or learn to make a gout friendly pho at home. I'll live.

Keep plugging away. Gout is your body telling you that you need to make changes and get healthy; even if you do end up on a daily medication, don't lose site of the health issues.

EDIT // Frozen cherries can be a little pricey, so I've been taking a cherry/celery seed extract that I found on Amazon that I've added to my standard routine.

I'm also 32. My first gout flare up was when I was 25. I don't know what you've tried but Quercetin is the only non-med which has worked for me. It apparently can inhibit uric acid production in the body. I haven't had a flare up in a year. I drink beer and eat meat regularly. I know it sounds too good to be true. But I'm sure you're open to trying anything. I take 2 capsules with every meal.

Here's a good brand:

Until July?! That seems weird. That's a test that takes hours at the most.
Honestly I'd check out amazon and either order the extract juice or just the pills. Also, Vitamin-C is shown to be really good for gout sufferers (like 1500+ mg a day). At this point you really want to do everything you can to increase kidney function to flush as much UA out everyday.

Tart Cherry Extract 1000 mg 120 Capsules - Manufactured in a USA Based GMP Certified and FDA Inspected Facility and Third Party Tested for Purity. Guaranteed!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013RG7C1I/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_FORjxbQX675DX

Sorry to hear about how bad it has gotten. The others have summed up Allopurinol.

I don't know anything about drug testing ... but if they know what you are taking and how that could affect the outcome I would think that could mitigate any issues. At least that would be my hope.

For information from books ... I liked reading Beating Gout: http://www.amazon.com/Beating-Gout-Sufferers-Guide-Living/dp/0981662463/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394566780&sr=8-1&keywords=gout+book

Honestly I think it's hard to find a good Doctor in the States who really understand gout...

Thanks for the info. I am curious if anyone has tried the kidney supplements available in health food stores or online.

Stuff like this: https://www.amazon.com/Uric-Acid-Support-Supports-Quercetin/dp/B00T40H4RO/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1550166138&sr=8-3&keywords=kidney%2Bgout%2Bsupport&th=1

FWIW, after reading your post here, I did some further research and came across this product: http://www.amazon.com/Formula-Cherry-Extract-Celery-Turmeric/dp/B0088JPQOU/ Has the celery seed and bromelain you mentioned, but also the tart/black cherry, which I'm currently taking by itself now.

Haven't tried it yet, but just bought it to give it a go and see if it helps at all. Will definitely report back on this sub.

Drink lots of water. When I feel it coming on I start taking these:

https://www.amazon.com/Mt-Angel-Vitamins-Vegetarian-Capsules/dp/B009LXM8BG

I take 6/day... 2 with each meal. Maybe it's placebo or just the water, but feel like it helps!

u/tesseract4 · 1 pointr/gout

I've been taking two a day of these for about two years now, and haven't had more than a twinge in my foot since. I used to get 1-2 flares per year that would prevent me from standing. YMMV, but I've gotten fantastic results.

u/_ToxicBanana · 1 pointr/gout

Add low/no Fructose to your list, Fructose is processed in the liver and the waste-product is Uric Acid.I know this is not what your asking, but as an easier on the system option, I take Ibuprofen and these two over the counter options.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CFPQ674/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009LXM8BG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This will limit my flare-ups to 3 days.

u/BIGDATA_Construct · 2 pointsr/gout

Well at the least its not bad news regarding Whisky. Isnt Tart Cherry juice not from concentrate what you are supposed to drink? Also these seem to work fairly well. Uric Acid Support or there are similiar out there I bet beside the one I linked.

This $45 carbon fibre walking cane?

Sympathetic minds want to know if it's any good...

Here is a great book, very well researched.

Just a spring loaded little finger-pricker. Heads up though, there are plenty of tips you need to learn to use it (super clean hands, wipe away the first drop-test the 2nd). Otherwise results vary widely, they say.

There certainly are a lot and I do not know for certain which ones are better. Some people swear they must be an extract from a certain type of cherry. I used these for a few years, but the pills had a tendency to get soggy and stick together:

https://amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Cherry-Fruit-Extract/dp/B000GFHP02

Now I use these, which are in capsule form:

https://amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Black-Cherry-Extract/dp/B0013OUN9K

u/BustedBottle · 1 pointr/gout

The only sugars you should ingest are those in dark fruits like cherries and blueberries. Start taking two tart cherry pill extract pills daily and keep on it. Like others have said, cut back on meats and drink lots of water.

u/autocannibal · 4 pointsr/gout

Im a fan of gouch. Usually if I feel a flare-up start and I can get some of this stuff down it wont turn into a full on flare-up. Either way this stuff is like a secret weapon against any kind of inflammation.

u/baron_muchhumpin · 1 pointr/gout

My brother and I have good luck with Tart Cherry Concentrate - I take 1 a day, or 2 if I know I've been bad

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TP54IFO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/jb_713 · 2 pointsr/gout

I take allopurinol every day and take 1-2 of these per day: Tart Cherry Concentrate - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TP54IFO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_swyXpWgsK64lA

Also, cherry juice from Cheribundi seems to be helpful. There have been some close calls, but I've been attack-free since February.

Seems like a long shot, but as most folks with gout know.....im willing to try anything

u/HongManChoi · 2 pointsr/gout

Just looked it up and apparently, yes, it's completely possible to test uric acid at home. I had no idea that was a thing. Here's a couple links-

http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Touch-uric-acid-strips/dp/B00B72291I

http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?_rel=uric&search_constraint=0&search_query=uric+acid+test+strips

http://www.uricacidmeter.com/

http://www.uricacidtest.com/contents/en-uk/d19_uric_acid_meter.html

I wonder if anyone else here has any experience with these. Maybe I'll start a separate post to see.

u/adrianmonk · 2 pointsr/gout

Presumably they mean this one: https://www.amazon.com/Easy-Touch-Glucose-Cholesterol-Monitoring/dp/B00HQ930YQ/

I'm in the US too, and it shows up as available for me to buy.

u/1000Clowns · 1 pointr/gout

I used a Kernel meter.

Buying today, I'd probably go with one from UA Sure.

u/assholesuckonit · 2 pointsr/gout

When it gets bad, I take 2 tart cherry extract caps and 1 turmeric cap all at once and I feel it fades away for awhile. It only works for 4 hours. I've been taking these pills for 10, 15 years no problem.
