Great product!
The book club post was kinda buried, but we've selected two books. The first was recommended by allsortsashenanigans and is Too Loud a Solitude by Bohumil Hrabal, a short literary work from a Czech writer that encompasses themes of censorship, the encroachment of automation, the preservation of art and knowledge. This was so short that we thought throwing in another one wasn't too bad an idea.
Liloving offered up In Sunlight or In Shadow: Stories Inspired by the Paintings of Edward Hopper as our second book. This is a collection of short stories inspired by Edward Hopper's paintings, and it has some "for real" writers like Joyce Carol Oates and Stephen King. darr76 and danger both seem to like the short story collections.
The Cuisinart with the measuring/storage thing on top is quite brilliant. Once you have your measurements set up, you can just bap it and it will grind exactly how much you want.

Me too. I've read some biographies of him. Interesting guy. Not an easy time with women, though. I read a novel based somewhat on his marriages and affairs. Pretty good read, overall.

I really like them, and they fit well.
Just got the New Joe Abercrombie book, Short stories set as prequel to the First Law Trilogy. Pretty interesting. Also going to pick up that book I recommended in the Book Club thread yesterday about the history of american politics as different nations/tribes. (http://www.amazon.com/American-Nations-History-Regional-Cultures/dp/0143122029)
Non-fiction for sure. I do really like history but sometimes its just too dense. I like to switch it up with non-fiction (or some sci-fi) that are kinda self-contained and only relate tangentially to larger events or just a lighter biography. Thinking Shadow Divers, The lost city of Z, Lost in Shangri-La, At Ease - Eisenhower or An American Doctor's Odyssey
I love my merrell hiking shoe. I haven't worn boots since I gave up my 90s Doc Martin alternative phase
This looks amazing. I kinda want a copy for myself. I read The Dead Beat several years ago and loved it.
[This is the first sci-fi series] (http://www.amazon.com/City-Golden-Shadow-Otherland-Volume/dp/0886777631) I read as an adult. I remember enjoying it but it was almost 15yrs ago.
Thankfully not quite that creepy: link to book
Link to long-read article that gave rise to the book here -- now that I look at the photo of the guy involved, in the orange jumpsuit, the girl in the image you linked to could be his daughter. Heh.
My favorite drink is whatever alcoholic beverage I can get my hands around on a big ass cruise ship.
American Kingpin, the story of Ross Ulbricht (better known as Dread Pirate Roberts) and how he built and crashed the online drug market known as The Silk Road, is out and on my amazon wishlist. Hint hint. Just kidding, I'll probably buy it myself for lounge-reading on the boat.
These have a lot more wattage than that other unit and are similarly silent and have no exposed heating element. You can also stash them in a closet or the attic when not in use.
I know right? $12.50 and problem solved and she could have been cycling everywhere.
