There are a few academic treatises on humor. Beware though - these are not funny (although they contain jokes and funny things - but purely in an analytical sense - which, in context, drains the humor right out of anything you're going to read).
The two best may be:
Funny Peculiar by Mikita Brottman and
Rationale of the Dirty Joke by G. Legman
These are both dense, heavy reads, and would really only appeal to someone looking for an academic analysis of humor, not (necessarily) for people who are looking to laugh.

These reviews are good, but check out the "Customers Also Bought" section. My favorite is "Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed"

> This full-color illustrated book is a fun way for parents to teach young children the valuable lessons of conservatism. Written in simple text, readers can follow along with Tommy and Lou as they open a lemonade stand to earn money for a swing set. But when liberals start demanding that Tommy and Lou pay half their money in taxes, take down their picture of Jesus, and serve broccoli with every glass of lemonade, the young brothers experience the downside to living in Liberaland.

It sounds like satire. It's satire isn't it. There's just no way.

American football is a complicated game. My wife learned the game by reading Football for Dummies. In my experience it is the best way to get a good understanding of the game and it starts from scratch.
Baseball or basketball would be much easier to learn. Even young children pick up on basebally quite fast.

If you liked that, you'll love this!

I don't think you should be downvoted for not getting the joke, but I do think that suicide_king should for making fun of it because he didn't get it.

I do in no way have enough experience to fully explain the joke, but if you read the first few chapters of Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, you'll probably get it. Rynaxel gave an okay explanation, too.

A ketogenic diet can (after some initial adaptation time - maybe a few weeks to a month and a half) be better for aerobic sports and competition (like running and cycling) than a high starch / sugar diet. The reason is that "hitting the wall" (or bonking) doesn't happen, as muscles no longer use glucose, reserving it for the brain. Muscles use mostly fatty acids and a little bit of ketone bodies generated from fatty acids.

Note: Electrolytes are still needed, since they (mostly Na) are lost in sweat, but not glucose.

This is sometimes discussed in /r/keto and is dealt with extensively in Phinney & Volek's slim volume, The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance.

Best wishes in your running. After double knee replacements, I generally walk instead. (sigh)

Edit: I now see this is in /r/humor. Maybe this comment is out of place. If so, I apologize.

There's an Obama coloring book, too - just to be fair to both sides.

In fact, there are several. Perfect for indoctrinating your toddler.

I disagree with #6.

This article was written by a male. "What To Expect When You're Expecting" is comforting for women to read since it assures them that they are not crazy and what they are going through is normal.

$10 to help keep your wife from going bat-shit insane and keep her occupied while pregnant? Where do I sign up?

How did this guy get my daughter on his video? Oh, wait, my kid's brunette.

I just try to balance out the Disney with "Princess and the Pizza," the humor level of which is very high. Higher, actually I think, than the video. Although the video is not bad.

They're called "Dirty Tricks" for "getting even". My dad used to read me one dirty trick every night before bed.

So, I think I hate myself for knowing that you are slightly incorrect. According to the book, a single tear only comes from the inner corner of your eye (as opposed to the outer corner). Multiple tears will come out wherever.

I'll go back to my bookworm corner now

Reminds me a lot of Of Ape and Essence by Aldous Huxley. It's like a crazy future where America worships the devil because God was proven to be weak and powerless by nuclear war.
