Yes to the granny panties for sure. I had an abdominal hysterectomy and all my underwear cut perfectly across my incision. I ordered some online and they were perfect in that they had a comfortable yoga pant style waist in the front. Good luck and happy healing to you!

I don't know if anyone (nurses/doctors) suggested it to your wife, but she could try a belly binder. You can find them on Amazon. I liked this one best, but go for what works for her.

For me, the binder was most useful for helping in transitioning from standing to sitting and sitting to standing. Contracting the muscles really hurts post-surgery and the binder helps relieve the pressure and use of those muscles.

Small, flat pillow, like for a toddler. Use it for the ride home to put between your belly and seat belt. You will inevitably sneeze and it hurts like a mofo. The pillow will help tremendously. I also had dry shampoo but honestly, I just didn't shower for the first weak. I felt week to do anything! How will you eat? Frozen meals if needed. Disposable water bottles near your bed, enough for a week, if you don't have anyone to help you fill up.

Good luck!

I had mine for the same reasons last February. I actually could not lay on my side at all for the first month or so, but my doctor would not do laparoscopic surgery on me due to the atypical cells. Maybe you will be having a different surgery? That said, I had one of those huge U-shaped pregnancy pillows, and that helped immensely with laying on my side. This is the one I got, and I liked it enough. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ASMQ07Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm about 2 and half week post-op, the bed rail and grabber have been the preparation items I'm most grateful for.

What really helped me was a u-shaped body pillow I found on Amazon. If you don't want to spend money on one you can always surround yourself with pillows for support.
