Most slim cases by a reputable company will have adequate drop protection, paired with a tempered glass screen protector will take care of the rest. Just depends on how much you want to spend because there are expensive and inexpensive options for both.

I currently have a Lifeproof Slam in the neon green/grey combo (just because I like it)

I kinda have to agree with you on that. The short warranty plus no drop protection, the case is overpriced. But for some reason it feels better than the other clear plastic cases out there. The rounded corners makes it feel like you're holding on to the phone naked😄

I use TYTHES from Amazon. It covers the sensors and camera and everything works fine. I like it because it doesn't show that you have a screen protector installed.

I used the Max version of this one my XS Max and now 11 Pro Max and never had any issues with Face ID or ambient light sensor. No decrease in front camera quality either.
