So the Hachette series has already skipped all the crossovers. There is Revolution, taking place at the end of MTMTE, Windblade and RID. After that is Revolutionaries; all of that can be read before starting Optimus Prime as there's a few months between RID and OP while all the other books continue. First Strike is the last crossover. Tried to restrict continuity notes, let me know if anything isn't clear enough as I might not have been consistent with my edits.

If you like Ian in Revolution and Revolutionaries read the Action Man books I suggest for more of him, but they aren't at all necessary I'm just plugging a book I enjoy with helpful info.
Also apparently Furman has hinted at an extension very recently. Might edit in a link

So
EDIT: Have added the two vs series. Generally they've done an alright job with IDW, but that Requiem volume is very much here's all the stuff leftover with no regard for where it should be read. But also Requiem itself is beautiful and I'm glad that both Wreckers and TAAO are complete even without an extension.
I'd recommend The Wreckers Saga. It's available, cheap, self-contained and contains some of the best stories in the continuity. It touches on all the themes and concerns of the other stories without getting too bogged down in continuity and minutia. It also bridges several of the phases - one story in the 'All Hail Megatron' era, one in the 'MTMTE / RID' era and the final one in the 'Lost Light / Optimus Prime' era. But it is written very deliberately so that you don't need to know what else is going on outside of the actual Wreckers stories to follow along.
If you find The Wreckers Saga isn't to your taste you probably won't like any of the various phases and such. If you do, the things you find most interesting about it will guide you towards the best starting point for the rest of the decade.
Looks like Amazon Australia has a third party selling some copies
