Apple Leather Case ($45) - I used one of these for my iPhone 5S and now for my iPhone 6. It's absolutely beautiful. Feels very comfortable in the hand, and is very minimalist, while providing a good deal of protection in exchange.

Tech Armor Ballistic Glass Screen Protector ($10) - Amazing screen protector. The glass is much better compared to the plastic ones - it sits very close to the actual screen, offers much better protection, has its own oleophobic anti-fingerprint coating, and doesn't take away from the clarity of the screen at all.

TwelveSouth Hirise Dock ($35) - Very nicely designed stand/charging dock that works with the lightning cable, great to keep on the desk or bedside.

I buy tempered glass protectors strictly because they feel more like the original screen, but they have the added benefit of looking a lot better than plastic protectors.

Every time one breaks I think "I'm glad that wasn't the screen", peel it off, and buy a new one. You can get them for pretty cheap on Amazon. This Spigen one even comes with an install tool to put it on perfect for less than $12.

I’m not one that needs ultra protection on my phone but I typically like to feel secure when I drop it. In my simple life... I’ve found luck in simple 360 degree protection. So my current setup is:

Past Note 3,4 and 7 owner here. Go with the 7plus. Yes the phone is slightly bigger but it's still manageable. I think since your used to the screen size, you'd be disappointed in anything less. As far as the phone itself, I love! Super quick and silky smooth.

This one is great. I’ve replaced it with an Apple leather case because I got a deal on it (cousin works for an Apple Store) but this one is great. Showcases the phoneme design with pretty good protection. Won’t break the bank either.

I do, and would recommend it. A case made of TPU is more important to protect from drops, but screen protector will save you from a scratched screen.

The new “tempered glass” ones are all built more or less the same: a 0.3mm sandwich of toughened glass, backed by PET plastic, and a layer of silicone adhesive.

Better ones have a higher quality coating on the glass to give proper anti-glare and oileophoboc (repels oil/fingerprints) abilities. And for the iPhone 8, the screen curve is more pronounced even though it’s the “same shape” as iPhone6/6s/7, so its important to find one updated with a thicker adhesive layer to accommodate.

I use this one and I would recommend it. It comes with an installation kit which helps you align your screen protector perfectly. It's super smooth - feels like the original glass of the phone.

and put a magnet in top right of phone next to camera so that I can use magnetic car mount & Wireless charging and works perfectly! Love it! Being that the case is thin, has a decent grip to it, I put Qmadix Liquid glass on front and back along with a tempered glass screen protector for added protection.

I’m a huge Anker fan, they have really well made products at amazing prices.

I’m using 2 of these, one on my desk and one in the living room. I love how they’re vertical; I have it positioned on my desk in a way that unlocks my face without me having to grab the phone, so I can tap my phone and quickly read my notifications when it unlocks using my face, and only lift it if i need to respond

For my bedside table, I have this one, which is a lot cheaper but slower charge. It’s okay though because I put it there before bed when going to sleep and don’t need a fast charge or anything.

But one of each is really all you want and you’ll have a great set up, and its still cheaper than buying a single Samsung or Belkin wireless charger

Well it’s a concern with any product that usually isn’t certified in some standard, like UL certified or something. Shotty wiring and circuit board on that wireless charger can make it squeal if it’s short circuiting or something.

Usually buying from a reputable source like from Apple, Mophie, Anker, Best Buy is a good call.

Amazon sometimes sells devices that aren’t certified or whatever reason (sometimes counterfeit)... as they don’t really check that stuff.

Spigen Tough Armor Case Looks good, protects well and has a kick stand for video viewing.

I have the Spigen clear case for my X. I had the same one on my 6S Plus. Extremely durable but I will say that clear cases start to discolor over time so be prepared for that. With that said I love my Spigen clear case. The back is plastic but the bumper sides are rubber. Yes. I like them better than the plastic ones, too. They offer better oleophobic (sp?) coatings, and they feel nearly as well as the original screen.

I recently got an XS and got this screen protector and it's amazing.

It comes with a guide that snaps onto the phone. Just place it against the guide, lie it down and press down the middle, then smooth out the sides. It left 0 bubbles, not even around the edges. It's perfect and I love it.

I have not used the mophie wireless charging car vent mount, so I cannot comment on that product, though it does look pretty neat if it works well. In case others comment and share a negative experience about that product, I wanted to share my setup for a few ideas.

I have an iPhone XS Max, so no headphone jack, and an older car, so no built-in bluetooth.

I use the iOttie Easy One Touch 2 Car Mount Universal Phone Holder to mount my phone to the windshield.

(I noticed you mentioned a vent mount, there are plenty of options available for that type of mount as well.)

Then, I use the Mpow MBR2 Bluetooth Car Kit - this allows me to play my music on my phone via bluetooth by connecting an audio cable into the Aux jack in my car and I can charge my phone using a lightning cable. I chose this model since it is powered via the car charger instead having to deal with rechargeable bluetooth adapters.

It may seem a little clunky, but it works well until I purchase a new car (I'm currently at 185,000 miles).

I've used amFilm Glass Screen Protector on my XS and now my 11 Pro, in my opinion they're the best glass screen protector I've ever used and I've used quite a few.

Now as far as case goes I'm using the Razer Arctech Slim case for my 11 Pro and the fit, finish and look is just killer. I also like the fact that it does indeed cool down your phone if it ever heats up. My screen used to dim when I was outside smoking and the sun was beaming down on it. With this case that doesn't happen anymore. I'm extremely pleased with the case and it's one of the best ones I've had on any of my iPhones.

I had a black leather on my 7+ for a year and with the X I went with a super thin Spigen. Honesty, I am a bit OCD so the nicks in the leather really started bothering me. At least with the Spigen it’s $10 so I can replace it cheaply. With it being thinner it add 0 bulk or extra weight which I’m loving.

The SolidSuit is $35 on Amazon (if you're in the USA), and the same price on RhinoShield's website. That doesn't seem too expensive to me, but your circumstances may be different from mine.

Also, I picked up an Anker pad on a lighting deal, and I'm happy to confirm that the SolidSuit is 100% compatible with wireless charging. So that's nice.

Some charging pads are pretty cheap. This one works really well.

Once you charge your phone simply by putting it down, and then just pick it up again when you want to, you realize how worth it this really is.

Got the Spigen thin fit...has a curved out space for the metal piece and supports the wireless charging. To be clear, I do not have the metal piece inside the case so I haven’t tested whether or not it would still charge with that.

It's awesome that you don't even know it's there and the battery lasts like 1.5 months.

I do not have these issues with my wireless charging. I bought a Chinese charging stand off Amazon for $19 and it works perfect. I don't have to move it around to get it to start charging. I can use it in portrait or landscape mode. It doesn't get hot either.

I've had it since I had the S7. I'll admit that I rarely have to use it with the S8 Plus. I take it off my charger at home at 8am and by 6pm I'm still at 70%. I only have to use it if I spend a lot of time in the basement here at work where I don't get a strong cell signal and that drains the battery super quick, even with wifi calling.

Actually I have a Bluetooth cassette adapter that's super cool. People get amazed when they see it.

I would suggest going with a Spigen screen protector. It comes with a nice alignment tool and I've found it feels pretty good.

Yeah I’m fairly sure I’m not on fast charging, I’m using just a normal adapter for it. I love using the charger for when I’m between 50-90% battery and don’t mind a slower charge that’s more convenient.

I don't think I've ever seen one that does that... But regardless, I use this glass protector and love it. The margin of error for applying it perfectly is pretty thin though, but that's what you want out of a well made product.

Spigen makes a few different different clear cases. I’ve tried three different ones. The one I have now is closest to what you’re describing. I’m linking the XS (not max) version that I have. It shouldn’t be too hard to find the max version though. Also pretty cheap.

overall though I find having a fast charger is 10x more helpful than having a wireless charger

So far the mophie or the Belkin wireless charger is certified or recommended (thus, the higher pricing?) .

But the other Qi wireless charger are so far so good.

Take a look at totallee on Amazon. Seems to be very thin and pricing is competitive. Comes with prime shipping as well. It will not protect from hard falls but it will prevent scuffing from minor falls. The scuffs will go on the case rather than your steel band. Spigen actually also has a super thin series that might offer some protection in a thin form factor, it’s grippy so you might actually drop your phone less

i also have a usb current reader, so i could find the sweet spot of the wireless coils to get full potential (7.5 atm).

I got a $20 wireless stand on Amazon, works great even with cases.

I've spent more money than I care to admit on tempered glass and settled on amFilm. They're the only ones that are cheap and durable enough to protect against a big drop.

I messed up the first one, but then I with the second figured out how to do it and get it to look perfect. No bubbles and a 99% perfect fit. Still have one extra since it’s a 3 pack.

I prefer to have a cutout for the camera area and I’ve been using iPhones and screen protectors since the iPhone 4S. I’ve never had any damage to the camera area. That way there aren’t any light reflections or etc messing with the light sensor, Face ID, and the selfie camera.

It doesn't offer much in drop protection as it's VERY thin. It's so thin it doesn't feel like there's even a case on the phone. But it's fine for protecting from scratches and things.

I have a similar one, and it’s great. Light is on to let you know it’s working, then turns off.

I have this case and this tempered glass screen protector. I like them both quite well. I've had plastic film screen protectors before, both as part of a case and as a standalone application, never again. The tempered glass is waaaay nicer IMO. Smoother, firmer, more resistant to scratches/marks. The only time I even notice the screen protector is when pressing the home button - its not in the way or anything, but it is thick enough that I'm aware of its presence.

Whatever charger you get, make sure it's at least 7.5W in order to fast charge your iPhone. Also, a quick charge power adapter that's at least 15W.

I got this one for my X and no issues so far.

People ridiculed me when I did this to mine, but I’ve had my adapter never fall out since for two reasons:

1. It’s shortened enough and sheathed that the edges never get caught on anything.
   
2. the Dongle Dangler is also much shorter than that holder, making the adapter even less likely to be exposed than my keys alongside it.

I went a couple weeks without one on my 7+. I'm always super careful of where I place my phone, which pants pocket it goes in, etc. and low and behold I had micro scratches on the glass after just a few weeks.

I've since applied this tempered protector and so far so good. I've got a nasty, deep scratch on it from a key so I may install the second one as it bothers me slightly. I had a vent mount for a while but really disliked how it blocked airflow. Like you, I didn't want something that would ruin the dash.

I ended up with this. It leaves 0 residue on the dash (I have two and have moved each from one car to another after 1 year+ of use). I love it and will never go back to vent mount.

You bought it at Costco, you can return it. That’s a huge benefit of the membership.

I’ve been using one of these from Anker on my nightstand and another on my counter for our 2 XS phones for almost a year.

They don’t hum or whine, and if the blue light bothers you at night just block it with tape.

I’m traveling now and I’ve used it as a stand on the airplane and hotel desk to watch shows. Charges landscape or portrait.

Only thing bad about it is that it doesn’t come with a wall adapter. You have to buy it separately.

I am rocking this one on my iPhone X and have no regrets.

i got this glass protector and I wouldn't recommend it. I ordered it knowing it wasn't an edge to edge protector so it would be compatible with cases. However even with a case on, there is still space between the case and protector. Not only does it look bad but it leaves areas unprotected.

I got those exact ones but for the iphone x and no problems. here.
