For Aquaman skip almost everything and start with the four Geoff Johns volumes from the new 52. These are called vols 1-4 and have the subtitles of The Trench, The Others, Throne of Atlantis, and Death of a King. They are excellent. I can also recommend the two Jeff Park volumes that come after (5 and 6). I can't speak for anything after that.

Green Arrow, the easiest spot to start is with Green Arrow Year One and then read Rebirth forward. There are a few other good runs(Kevin Smith, Metzler, Winnick, Lemire) but Year One and rebirth will be the easiest place to jump in.

The last three are the most complicated:

Superman has different places to start depending on what you are looking for.

If you want to read about the various Origin's superman has had then you can read: Superman for all seasons, Superman:Birthright, Superman: Secret Origin, Superman: American Alien (A greg miller rec).

If you want to read Superman as an established hero, there are two good places to jump on board: Geoff Johns run that starts with Last Son of Krypton is really good. Otherwise, start with Superman:rebirth which is a really great run so far.

And for some just overall good Superman stories: Kingdom Come, Superman:Secret Identity, All-Star Superman.

Batman...Oi.

Do you want to read older books or newer books?

For older books you have the always timeless Batman Year One, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Batman:The Long Halloween and it's sequel Dark Victory.

If you want to read more recent books, then it just depends how far back you want to start reading.

You can go all the way back, you can go back to the 90's and read Knightfall, you can go back to the early 00's and read Cataclysm/No Man's Land, or you can jump in 2006's Batman and Son when they introduced Damien Wayne. To do that, you'll just read the Batman books by Grant Morrison.
If you want to get got up to modern Batman the fastest, just start with the New 52 run as other's have mentioned that starts with Batman vol 1: The Court of Owls.


Spider-Man, you have to decide what kind of stories you want. Do you want Peter Parker in High School? Then read Ultimate Spider-man. It's a seperate universe from the normal marvel universe, but it is really good. It also leads to Miles Morales who is, in my humble opinion, the best Spider-Man ever.

Do you want to start with Peter as an adult, but Single? Jump in with Spider-Man: Big Time.
I personally, think Big time is the best place in the normal continuity to start. Dan slott wrote some good stories and it feels the most like the pop culture Spider-Man people know.

Lastly two things. If you want to read about Miles Morales, you can just start with the Miles Morales Ultimate Collection:

And let us know if you want to read cool comics that aren't about Superheroes. Because that is where the really great writing is.

For most comics if you want print graphic novels, go with Amazon. If you want print issues, find a local store. If you want digital, go to Comixology.com which does not have the problem of if the given book or issue is in print.


The important thing to remember is that a lot of us comic readers that started before the movies made them mainstream, didn't have internet resources, so we just jumped into random stories that sounded interesting and filled in our knowledge gaps as we went forward. Even now I don't know everything and never will. And I've been reading comics for over ten years.

Since it seems like you're mostly interested in DC characters I'd recommend checking out the current Rebirth Series. Now I'm only familiar with Batman and Flash, so I can't speak to the quality of the other series but I've enjoyed both of them so far.

As for the best place to buy comics I recommend Amazon and Barnes & Noble as they are generally pretty cheap and run good sales fairly often (especially Barnes & Noble).

Now for some of my personal recommendations:

Batman New 52 Vol. 1 Court of Owls, it's Batman at his best investigating an old Gotham conspiracy.

Hawkeye Vol. 1 My Life as a Weapon, it's about what Hawkeye does when he's not an Avenger. It has some really amazing art.

As someone that has been collecting headphones for over 10 years, I can tell you that there is diminishing returns once you get into the $500 + territory. You are pretty much trying to find the sound signature that you love.

Point being, some of the best headphones in the hobby are easily $200-300 range. I would actually highly recommend the HD-600 or HD-650. They are fantastic headphones, and a lot of audiophiles even use them as end game (since they scale incredibly well with Amps/DACS) - and are overall a good balance.

They are both very similar. The 650 has a little more bass/veil, the 600 are slightly more neutral (without a colored bass). But both are very close (I personally find the 600 are more comfortable to wear. But the 650 looks more aesthetically pleasing and audiophiles seem to prefer it over the 600 but they are damn close in sound).

The 600/650 have really nice soundstage, clear separation of instruments - and decent bass (won't be boom). They are just great all around cans. The 650 rank really high on Head-Fi (the largest audiophile forum) and are actually rated the second best headphones on there.

If you don't mind me asking Tim, what sound sig do you like? Are you a treble man? Do you like that crunch/speed? Or are you a bass man? Do you like a thicker sound?

I think Greg has mentioned this before, but it's best to pick out "runs" and just go from there, because I'm not sure that there's a great starting point to get into DC otherwise.

My personal favorite is the Brian Azzarello run of Wonder Woman, that began with the new 52. It's self contained, and does a great job of reimagining her.

On the Superman front, Kingdom Come, Red Son and All-Star Superman are three separate but great self contained runs, but I'm sure Greg can speak more to this.

If your goal is to get back into continuity so you can be up to date, whoa boy are you in for a challenge. I'm no expert on this, but New 52 is probably the starting point. New 52 was basically a complete reboot for every character in 2011 (except batman) so it begins with every Hero's origin story. DC rebirth is the last major shakeup that retconned a lot of stuff (in particular swapping back to old Superman) so that could also be a good starting point.

DC has a couple of big "events" here and there but I'm not super familiar with them, and unlike Marvel they generally don't screw up the ongoing series too much.

After about 4 hours of searching, I'm almost positive it's the Sony ECM-44. If not, it could be the ECM-55 or ECM-66. But I'm nearly certain it's the 44.
