The easiest to start with would be a single line, classic delta. One of our best sellers is the Prism Stowaway Delta. They are made very well and are very compact. Prism is one of the best kite manufacturers out there, so anything from them will be pretty good. Another classic would be a diamond, they are single line as well. There is a whole world of deltas and diamonds to choose from....but if you want durability, you should really buy from a good manufacturer. Some of the cheaper manufacturers like New Tech and Premier can be a little iffy on some of their products. If you'd prefer something more advanced, there are dual line stunts and power kites as well as quad lined kites. Beyond that you'd be getting into de-power kites which are quite fun and some of my favorites to fly.

If you'd like some help choosing something more unique feel free to give us a call and check out our website to see some of the varieties. You can view all our kites in the drop down menu's on the left side of the page. PiedmontKites.com

this kite should keep you busy for years without you ever learning all it's capable of :-) it's about 150us and you'll need some high end lines that will cost you about 25 max.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/HQ-Shadow-Sports-Stunt-Kite/dp/B0035FVGFA/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1410477266&sr=1-1&keywords=hq+shadow is a bit cheaper but it's more of a basic learner kite. you'll get started ok but in about a years practice you'll know how to fly it and need a different kite (or want one anyway) but it's more directed to light wind.

this prism nexus is the cheapest I would advise. it's even more basic than the second HQ but it should be great fun and only half the price.

is a good capable trick kite. price is about 150 I would think

I just ordered a suspiciously similar kite from Amazon. I believe it's slightly different, but it's tough to tell because the pictures on the Amazon site don't seem to even agree with each other. Yours has a sort of pectoral fin, whereas the one I ordered only has that in some of the images.

Regardless, the Amazon one seems to come with a tail (pictured in the listing) that just looks like a windsock. Maybe this helps? Once I get it in hand and a chance to try it out, I'll send you a message.

I think any delta kit would do. I just got into kite flying a few months ago. The delta kite from amazon fly super well in very low winds. I’d say it’s a great beginner kite and you can fly it on most days.

Thanks for the response!

I've been flying a kite like this and I've been thinking about attaching a gopro to my kite like in this video

I noticed that they were flying a kite that was more similar to yours and the weight of the kite may have contributed to the stability of their video. If I were to buy a kite similar to the one in the video, do you know what keywords/size/length/price I should look for?

Thanks again!

Something like this. Less than $20 on Amazon.

These entry level parafoil kites are pretty darn simple, I don't think there's much of a difference which brand you get.

I bought this one for my kids. It’s cheap easy to fly and fairly well built. Nothing wrong with any of the other recommendations but this my be more suited for a non hobbits looking for his kids. IMHO

For a single string parafoil kite, I would suggest the Prism Stowaway Parafoil.

Once you're ready to move on to a two string kite, I would suggest the Prism Snapshot 1.2.

I have been flying for 30+ years at the beach and nothing can beat a basic ring type reel. Every single mechanical reel will break.
