I know of no kundalini yoga books dealing with sexuality specifically.

Reddit has no kundaliniyoga subreddit, so I'm unsure how many of their practitioners might explore here in /r/kundalini. Kundalini yoga is more about growth over-all in a smoothened gentle but rigorous method. You might google for a kundalini yoga forum and ask there.

I am more than familiar with kundalini, and have explored the tantric path. Most tantric paths and yogas have, as an aim, to awaken or stir up kundalini.

Kundalini isn't usually done in order to improve sexuality nor libido, yet those can be side effects.

Some Tantra-focused books with good foundations for kundalini that I've read which you might find useful. They don't go deeply into the kundalini topic as "an exhaustive treatise".

  • Jewel in the Lotus.
  • The Art of Sexual Ecstasy.
  • La Célébration Sexuelle Still untranslated - French only.

In my experienced opinion, the best book on kundalini by far is:

Kundalini and the Chakras: Evolution in this lifetime

Tantra comes in three main flavours. White, pink and red. White focuses on spirituality, with increased pleasure as a bonus. Red focuses on increased pleasure, with spiritual growth as a bonus. Pink is the middle ground between the two. Books don't usually claim to be one or the other. Experienced teachers help define it for students.

Any of the tantric or yogic exercises will do several things including decrease stress and increase your prana or life energy. It's not uncommon for those factors alone to raise libido and sex drive, at times unpredictably. Add the exercise, oxygenation, muscle tension release and circulation effects and you have WOW!!

The idea is to let the effects of the energy increase bring benefits to more than just your sexuality. You should be open to benefit on many levels. Yes?

If you're experiencing whacko libido levels, it is also possible that you've stirred kundalini up to the second chakra (counting chakras depends upon the chakra system - there are many variations and understandings), which is responsible for sexuality, reproduction, recreation, creativity, etc. This is the one about half-way between your pelvic bone and your belly button. If so, learning what it means to raise or draw the energy to chakras higher up the body can be useful here.

If one is going to explore kundalini, then it can be more than helpful to be aware of and practicing some of the supporting wisdoms. These can be from either yoga (Namas and Niyamas) or from Taoism / Buddhism / Zen. A glance in wikipedia can get you started, or the sidebar in /r/meditation.

Various kundalini approaches make no requests for you to be a prude. The idea is to find a healthy balance. Occasionally, the practice of Brahmacharya, or non-sexuality, is used to highten the tension and possibly provoke more energy to direct itself in a kundalini-stirring direction. It could be useful for you to understand some of the methods and intentions of Brahmacharya.

Having experience in any or several varied meditation practices is almost an essential prerequisite to a good kundalini experience. Nothing beats taking courses with living beings to build a good foundation to your practice. In this case it doesn't matter as much what form you choose, but that you do choose, learn, play, and develop a deeper understanding of mind, self, etc.

Be aware that the techniques listed in the books can bring about significant advances involving lots of change, and inspire the kind of growth one might prefer to have support going through.

    ============

Some books I've only glanced at and was not drawn to buy nor read fully at the time - several on this search list.
    Amazon search

You could explore some Osho books, though I recommend his books with some caution as he was considered by some to not bother passing on the wisdom that was meant to go with the techniques he taught. It's apparently one of the two reasons he was booted out of India, and perhaps related to the paranoia that some of his students expressed in Oregon. Still, his writings are fresh and fun, and he had a brilliant mind. He wrote many dozens or hundreds of books, and I've read but a half-dozen, so you're on your own on this author.

Also to consider: Kriya yoga and pranayama.

I haven't done any Bikram, so have no idea if pranayama is a part of their practice.

    Good luck.

Hello my beautiful friend :)

Although I do like to take my time in crafting my responses to posts here, I am choosing to write things down a little more quickly as I am like the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland today... late, late, for a very important date! :)

Not really but I need to attend to an assignment :)

I would like to share with you my experiences in healing my own genital issues. I am a fellow woman.

Most relevant to my journey: I visited a craniosacral practitioner recently and together we helped unblock much stuck energy in my sacral chakra. Craniosacral practitioners help conduct prana (life force energy) to where healing is needed, so that flow can be established. Healing the sacral chakra was a significant part of my first healing. Although I do not think you need to find one of these practitioners (although if this resonates, please do) I would like to suggest sacral chakra healing to you. There are foods one can eat (think orange-colored foods, sweet potatoes, orange red bell peppers, oranges, etc., google is your friend!) meditation music one can listen to (youtube is your friend!) and learning to conduct your own awareness and consciousness in a new way by exploring emotional healing, your sense of creativity, etc:

https://lonerwolf.com/sacral-chakra-healing/

Things that I resonated with for your healing journey:

Marc has given you some very nice advice, and I particularly resonate with changing your laundry soap.

I believe you may have candida yeast over growth. What the heck is that?

Need to caution you, some icky pictures!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candidiasis

Does this interest you? You may take a quiz that may help point you to finding your diagnoses:

https://bodyecology.com/quiz-php/

This is a quiz you can take where you check off your symptoms, the higher the score, the higher the likelihood of yeast overgrowth. Don't feel bad or guilty if you think you have candida. We all have it, and a significant portion of the population has the overgrowth too. Our symptoms just manifest differently, and some are more sensitive than others. Sensitivity is a divine gift, so please do not feel ashamed :)

How to treat?

Yeast feeds on sugar, sugar fermentation leads to increased levels of acid in our body, which lowers our pH and makes us more susceptible to other microorganismal and physical/mental/emotional imbalances :) I think you might be interested in The pH Miracle by Dr. Robert Young:

And although I haven't read it, The Acid-Alkaline Food Guide by Dr. Susan E. Brown and Larry Trivieri, Jr.

Now, I provided a lot of information on candida stuff, but I certainly do not want to limit the possibility that you might have another, or different, root cause for the symptoms you are experiencing. If this does not resonate, you certainly do not have to try anything :) This is just my knowledge that I have gathered over many years of being interested in alternative health :)

May you find the healing that you seek :)

Blessed day, happy weekend :)

The sensation you describe is common, even expected, on the Kundalini Path. Depictions of Shiva typically show the Serpent wrapped around Shiva's neck and he is blue from difficulty breathing. The story of how the Serpent got wrapped around Shiva's neck goes back to the story of the Churning of the Sea of Milk which is a beautiful origin of Creation story. The churning brought up a poison which was going to destroy Creation so Shiva drank the poison. He was going to die, but the Divine Feminine in the form of Parvati intervened and stopped the poison from killing Shiva by encircling his neck. The Serpent represents unconditional love. Shiva is sometimes called Nilakanta which means Blue Throated One because of this.

So in many ways what you describe is an auspicious and positive spiritual development on the Kundalini path that is heralded by the Ancient Texts. It still represents a problem to be solved, but that the issue is emerging signifies that you are moving beyond duality to the underlying substrate of Creation. I would suspect that your Heart Chakra has opened, or is in the process of opening, and now there is a lot of energy flowing up to your Throat Chakra which is blocked.

Whereas the Heart Chakra represents discovering your authentic Self. The Throat Chakra represents the courage to be who You are and express your authentic Self without conditioning. The voice of the open Throat Chakra is directed inward as unconditional love for your Self and outward as the courage to speak Your Truth.

The issue is that due to childhood conditioning most people's throat Chakra is closed. Not being allowed to be your Self and to express your Self freely is a core childhood wounding for many of us.

I had the same throat sensation and breathing issue with my Throat Chakra that kept reoccurring and made meditation difficult. The way I overcame the blockage was by using a modified technique of Vipassana meditation and Inner Child Healing. I have found that these blockages that we feel as somatic sensations are triggers that flash us back to the first time we felt the same primal sensation and developed a fear around it, usually in our childhood.

To over come the sensation I used this technique:

I dropped into meditation and opened my Heart Chakra which sent energy up to the closed Throat Chakra causing the uncomfortable energetic sensation and breathing difficulties. I then scanned the sensation in my throat using meditative awareness which is a Vipassana technique, but is easy to learn.

Most people who meditate already have some sense of this scanning method. It's the same as the meditative awareness that we use to feel sensations like air passing out through our nostrils. If you alternate back and forth between nostrils trying to sense air individually beneath each one then you have a sense of moving your awareness and scanning. It is like a pointer that you can move around your body to investigate somatic sensations.

So when the throat sensation arose I began to scan it with meditative awareness. After just a short bit of scanning a somatic sensation you will usually trigger a flashback. Where typically in meditation you try to stay present, in this technique you lower your guard and allow yourself to dissasociate. In this case, the sensation flashed me back to a childhood memory of sitting on my bed around the age of 4 with my Father threatening to hit me again if I kept crying. Most of us knows what this feels like in some form Trying to suppress uncontrollable crying as a child, feeling like you have a knot in your throat, gasping between cries for air. I then used inner child healing and my inner voice to speak to my inner child within this traumatic flashback. Letting them know that I was with them and that I would always be there for them. That I loved them unconditionally. That it was ok to cry. That I was there to protect them and from now on they could just be them Self. Immediately the energetic sensation lifted and my breathing became easy and regular. Now the sensation rarely arises, but if it ever does, I know what to do. I just quickly imagine my 4 year old Self sitting on the bed and give them the Love they deserve which clears the sensation.

Over time you learn to work with the Serpent, who is the Divine Feminine and represents unconditional love. At first you practice inner child healing and use your inner voice to heal. But then you begin to use the Serpent in the same manner as Vipassana to scan the somatic sensation directly which often heals it directly without flashing back.

This inner child healing technique as well as using the Serpent to heal are both forms of Karmic Yoga. Karmic Yoga is described in the Bhagavad Gita as the weapon we use in the battle that takes place on the Field of Karma to defeat our inner demons. The Field of Karma is where our childhood conditioning is located within our inner realm and self Love is the most powerful weapon we have to fight the inner battle.

🙏💜🙏

Edit: If you feel called the Upanishads would be a beautiful ancient text for this stage of the Journey. The Upanishads are about the relationship between the Trinity of Brahman, Brahma, and Atman. As you begin moving beyond duality, and unlock the Heavenly Chakras, Brahma will likely emerge as an important God for You. My favorite translation of the Upanishads is by Juan Cole. I haven't found a source to download his translation, but it is available here.

Yes, yes and yes. Whoever this highly practiced person is, you can be certain that he is correct in his understanding. Here is an excellent excerpt from a book that covers this very well by Bill Bodri, a student of Master Nan Huai Chin, an enlightened Zen, Taoist and Esoteric Vajrayana Master. This excerpt may help shed some light on the five bodies and what they entail.

----------------------

The reason there is a spiritual emphasis on the different parts of your body is because they must all be transformed on the spiritual path. Every atom and cell of your body must be washed with Qi for years to open up all the channels and create an independent deva body.

If you want to succeed on any path of spiritual practice you must cultivate your coarse physical body of bones and flesh through a pathway that purifies its prana and nadis (Qi and Qi) channels, and this is normally called kundalini cultivation. This washing of your body via Yang Qi will purify your underlying subtle Qi body, which is like an invisible scaffolding permeating every atom, cell and tissue of your physical body. Once you sufficiently purify or transform your inner Qi body, which takes at least twelve years after an initial Kundalini Awakening, it can leave your physical shell at will.

Your inner subtle Qi body is basically an etheric energy duplicate of your physical body that leaves during out-of-body experiences and upon death. It is a perfect body double composed of Qi/prana which is an energy more subtle than the material body, and thus it cannot be seen or measured. Because it is made of Qi it has all the powers related to those energies that appears miraculous to humans, whose bodies exist on a lower plane of material condensation.

As of yet, science cannot sense or measure Qi energies at all. Hence, even though we all posses a subtle inner energy body duplicate, since it is not composed of particles modern science does not yet recognize its existence. Qi also has higher energy substance derivatives called Shen, Clear Light and so forth. You can think of them as more subtle forms of matter that are less dense than our own, but still condensed forms of energy. Thus they belong to different spiritual planes of existence.

Through spiritual practice our inner subtle body or etheric double can become an independent deva body, also called an astral body, deity body or yin-shen, that can leave your physical shell whenever you want to roam or do things in the world. Attaining this body is the equivalent to becoming a junior-level spiritual master.

Buddhism calls the subtle body the "will-born" body because with its attainment you can, at will put on and take off the external body as if it were a cloak and use your subtle body for experiencing the astral world. This is the Buddhist stage of Srotapannaa, or "stream entrant", which is the first level of the Arhats. When you can consciously separate the inner subtle body from the physical shell, this makes you feel a greater distinction from being the gross body, but your root nature is not the subtle body either. The root nature of the universe is an ultimate substance/essence or ground energy level.

As Meher Baba and Shakyamuni Buddha explained, upon attaining the subtle deva body achievement you will consider yourself to be this subtle body, which will then become the center of all your activities. Therefore you will now have two bodies you can occupy - a physical and a subtle. A new mode of life will then open up along with new powers and possibilities. You will still live in your physical body but your new life will be centered in this higher subtle body until you cultivate another body yet higher, the Causal or Mental body made of Shen that is derived from cultivating the body of Qi. Then you will simultaneously posses three bodies, each capable of doing different things independently of the others.

Upon attaining this Causal body the same process of purification will repeat itself. You will appear to others as existing in the physical or subtle body while actually living in that Causal body, but you can also use your lower bodies to do indepdent things like extra appendages. For instance, you can use your Causal body to give someone a series of thoughts while using the Qi of your subtle body to be independently working on an individual's Qi to help open its Qi channels.

When you achieve the next higher body composed of Clear Light (Later Heavenly Qi/Prana) you will then take that as the new center of your life while still appearing to others in the lower bodies, and onward it goes. With each new body you identify with it as your life vessel, but you must maintain a connection with all your lower bodies and use them independently.

----------------------

There's lots more going into how these five bodies are described in basically all religions and genuine spiritual traditions - but all of it would take a long time to type up. In any case, hope it helps!

Best of luck with your cultivation!

Welcome, and to answer your implied first question...yes. It is a lonely path. While you could find a guru, instructor, or teacher that can help guide you and help you understand when Kundalini is awakening, it is basically what you do in your meditation and what you choose to do to aid in that release.
All the above people can only give you the tools for awakening the Kundalini, you have to be the one to actually use those tools. One such tool that has been recommended in a few threads is a book called Kundalini & the Chakras. I have it myself and it is a good book. It teaches you many techniques to practice to initiate Kundalini awakening. But there are some things in the middle of the book that give too much information, I can see you needing those skills sometime after you have achieved the awakening.
Also there are a lot of really good people in this forum that are more than willing to help you. Good luck on your path. Namasti!!

So a dimension that is not open to majority of people has opened up for you. There are two ways how you can you be stuck with such a dimension. One is to resist it and the other is to be overly fascinated by it.

Grounding feels like a good idea if you feel like such a dimension is too much. Good way to ground oneself is to have your attention in your lower belly (three finger widths below the navel) and breath in there. If you get lost in your mind or any other phenomenon just bring your attention gently back to breath. You can also ask from Life/Universe/God to dim it down or just simply to turn off that dimension.

I recommend you check out what Bonnie Greenwell has written about kundalini. I found her book The Kundalini Guide to be really good! If her words resonate with you, it's also possible to have private sessions with her.

OK. Thank you. But the conclusions summarized in the piece you link to are extreme, phrased in sensationalistic terms and presented without a shred of evidence.

Etiquette would seem to require that you in some way summarize the data for your readers. As it is, you present us with the choice of accepting all those too-awful-to-be-true assertions at face value or getting the book and reading it for ourselves.

Begging the Colonel's pardon, but that's not usually how these things are done.

So, like, how many people were in the good Dr.'s sample? How were the test subjects chosen? Over how many years was the research conducted?

This one star review of the book from Amazon sums up my personal suspicions about Dr. Gordon's work:

"It gets at least one star for sheer wacky entertainment value. I've read all his books and they are simply too bizarre and wacky for the author to expect a rational person to believe. Add to that various things that are bogus and u cant expect a favorable review. For example the author claimed a black belt in Chi Kung (or Qi Gong) yet there is no such thing. In another book he claims he and his mentors fight aliens telepathically... Enough said OK."

That depends on what cultural reference you have. In Taoism (I think it is), the Tiger is a reference to the female and the Dragon is a reference to the male... so the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is kind of a reference to a blow job.

Now all that said...

>I know it sounds cliche but i think it was a spiritual experience

I wouldn't be surprised.

Edit edit: I know it sounds silly but I can't tell you how long I've waited to share that bit of info in a proper context... lol

White Tantric yoga instruction videos are not available for purchase. White Tantric yoga is to be practiced only in presence of a Tantric Yoga facilitator, at a White Tantric yoga event.

There are some KY exercises for couples that can be safely practiced at home, you can find them in Nam Kaur Khalsa’s book “Divine Relationships” (Disclosure: I worked on this book).

I also have a blocked pingala channel, with a major line of tension all down the right side of the body, branches and blobs of tension into side channels, and kundalini is active in this area, which has led to some interesting times. My meditation practice is primarily focused on dissolving the blockages in that area. (EDIT: Here I recommended Your Breathing Body by Reggie Ray, who has recently been credibly accused of severely psychologically abusing his students. I have removed the link.) You might want to check out Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness and possibly try a therapeutic modality that involves body awareness, like EMDR, Hakomi, or somatic experiencing. I have to run but will post more later.

I think you have me a bit wrong... I don't mind paying for classes, and I certainly don't mind paying for correct, valid information.

What I do mind paying for is for example the SR example I posted - I bought her "advanced blah blah teachings" for $7.99 and even though she states she is selfless and has no ego, the pdf was full of sentences like "I strolled through town and my aura was so big that everyone was looking at me in admiration and bowing at me" this doesn't sound to me like someone with no ego? So if that perception of the author is correct then how can the other info (that you are paying $30 for) also be correct?

And my point about the power and esoteric knowledge, I probably didn't word properly. Here reddit is free, and you tell people not to mess with K, that it can kill you. On all these other sites people are encouraging anyone to unlock K...via their $49/m online course....

Pay to potentially die (atleast your body) vs get the real info for free. Which would you choose? You have given me far more real info than any accumaltive knowledge I have gained in the WWW domain so far!

I am also reading a book (that I payed for :P) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007F2I3F0/

Do you know of the Author? He has mentioned K quite a bit but that was not why I bought it... I seem drawn to this topic of spirituality lately. And work stuff is no longer as important as it once was. Ironically I am an internet marketer but I don't use websites (and have no intention of using K as a niche!)
