Depends on what you're looking for!

Best of the Best? Korbanth is neat, and they have pretty short lead times. Really nice sabers, but pricy. They have two versions of his saber:

One without Weathering

One with Weathering

I'm still waiting on my graflex from them, but I've been speaking back and forth with Randy and he's always been polite and friendly, and quick to reply! I really appreciate that.

If you don't want to spend that much, and don't mind getting exactly what you pay for, there's always the Hasbro sabers.

And if you don't want something fully canon, but high quality, you could look at the Aeryn from Sabertrio. They have lots of customizations, and can do their sabers ranging from Stunt Sabers (Without sound) and Deluxe Sabers (High quality blades, sound, the whole shebang)

The price to change depends on the hilt and electronics you have installed now. For example, if you have a saberforge hilt with a single button NBv4 or Pico Crumble setup, you could technically possibly re-use the chassis, but you would need a second switch. You would still need to re-wire everything but the cost could be as low as Proffieboard + Switch + Misc. like wires, heatshrink + your time. If you had a two button setup like an NEC board or Prizm, etc. you might be able to get away with just Proffieboard + misc + your time. Key to re-using an existing chassis might be the need to purchase a special micro-USB cable with an angled port; like this https://www.amazon.com/1m-Micro-USB-Cable-Cord/dp/B00EANUQ5M .

If you're going to go full Cool Uncle on this, I recommend presenting the saber in a wooden box, something like this.

This can be either natural, or fancied up with wood stain outside and foam with fabric over it on the inside. This can make a fun project, for pretty cheap.

The blade would be separate, true - but a maximum level Cool Uncle will have the blade and an Allen wrench handy, maybe in a shinai bag with a couple of spare blades.

For anybody who searches and finds this thread later, I bought the ones I linked from Amazon and will cut to size. There's 10 in a pack so I can mess one or two up. ;)

These: https://www.amazon.com/Prime-Line-Products-8510-Thumbscrews-Aluminum/dp/B00E8NARBC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1519919549&sr=8-7&keywords=%238-32+thumb+screw

If anybody ever needs an update on how it turned out just reply to one of my posts in here in the future and I'll reply when I see it. If it turns out super great I'll probably make new post to show pics.

If its leather then any sort of leather conditioner should age it nicely. One of the best ones to use is Obenauf's Leather Preserve. It darkens up the leather and seals it real well.

They are meant to mainly be shown off, but have much better lighting then duelling ones and can withstand some lighthearted dueling

You know what, I had it wrong - the Amazon brand that I've purchased before is Kybers (not Kyberlight). Costs more, but it is pretty nice, all things considered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FTDH81M/

There's an inexpensive blade up for sale on Amazon, as well. I can't personally speak to the quality, but it has some positive reviews.

yea darkining the metal instead of painting over it looks a lot nicer. If you still want some red though using careful light coats of something like this could work wonders

I would imagine Blue Magic Metal Polish would remove the stain. I haven't used it in this specific application (copper on a Roman's Inception), but I have used it on brass rods and it gives an amazing shine to them. I would suggest not touching the part as much as possible. Even though Blue Magic is supposed to provide a protective covering I found extensive handling of the rods tarnished them once more.

Someone a few weeks ago posted their setup and used something like this. I thought that looked really good.

Edit: This one is better actually since it doesn't have the lip on the edge.

Check in with your local plastics or hardware stores. You might be able to find some clear 1/8" thick 1"OD tube. You could get a standard blade tip from there and mirror it yourself, or a pre mirrored one. I don't know if anyone sells blades longer than that otherwise. You'll have to find appropriate length diffusion film, too.

Something like this is sold in lengths up to 72“ and you can cut it to your desired length: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OM9J2O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_il9gAbJZAX0QN

Well, Target carries it and runs sales all the time, so there's that.

The real, non-TFA inflated price for Force FX replicas is around what I said. A few weeks and you'll see what I mean on ebay and other places.

Here's and Ultimate FX version of Darth Vader's saber for $159 from Amazon.

They're around for that price if you look and aren't desperate to buy something this second.

It looks like pipe insulation. You can repair or replace it.

In is either one of these two.

Pipe Insulation Inexpensive

Pipe Insulation - a little more money

u/interweber · 2 pointsr/lightsabers

I wrapped the led strip in some packing foam sheets

It honestly wasnt the best though. At least with 60LED/m density, you can kinda see zebra lines. Maybe with 144 LED/m density LEDs, which i still have to try. Something else I still have to try is this film wrap.

u/alfrancism · 1 pointr/lightsabers

Nope this one is the upstone kybers basic saber. I wanted something RGB and sound. And for the price you can't beat this.
