CSS-326-24G-2S+RM pair here behind pfSense. Happy with them overall. Quiet little low power switches work good. 馃憣 Best part is budget friendly.

Honestly this book by Tyler Hart is very good for MikroTik beginners, and his second book in the series is good as well.

I'm glad you think my book looks promising - please purchase a legitimate copy either on my website or on Amazon.

I'd like to keep it under $10k if possible. We have budget for higher end switching in the office, so why not? I'd need something that supports L3 and iscsi. Pretty simple really :/

EDIT: I found this

It says Passive DACs aren't supported, but I take that to mean that it's not tested and guaranteed to work, not that it won't work at all.

I'm using this passive DAC and it's working 100%.

For your server, you can get a Mellanox ConnectX-3 and run a longer Passive DAC to your CRS328. I do this and it works 100%.

I use these and they work pretty well, too.

I like the variety of sizes, but cutting up window tint makes a lot of sense.

I am curious what replies you will get.

I, personally, do not like PoE injectors. I prefer PoE switches and am looking at https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-ProSAFE-GS108PE-Gigabit-GS108PE-300NAS/dp/B00M1C03U2/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1481041712&sr=8-7&keywords=8+port+poe+switch as an option for my setup.

I mean, they make Gigabit Passive PoE Injectors.

I've got a rack full of passive PoE and af/at devices that hum right along at gigabit.

Basically every Ubiquiti product would be boned too. I can't imagine Ubiquiti would be so popular if their whole line was *limited to 100 Mbps only if using PoE

At the end of the day, you just have to choose which random Internet person to believe.

If you need it fast, this brand has always worked for me. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LZVE3VQ/

But why?

You could this so much better with a standard usb battery.

TalentCell Rechargeable 12V 3000mAh Lithium ion Battery Pack for LED Strip, CCTV Camera and More, DC 12V/5V USB Dual Output External Battery Power Bank with Charger, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M7Z9Z1N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6W6SDbXQGKG8Z

$25 for something simple.

Or if you need a LOT of power,

TalentCell Rechargeable 72W 132WH 12V/11000mAh 9V/14500mAh 5V/26400mAh DC Output Lithium Ion Battery Pack For LED Strip and CCTV Camera, Portable Li-ion Power Bank, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016BJCRUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RY6SDb975MER2

$65.

The ubiquiti er litemaybe able to hit gigabit speeds. That plus a separate gigabit switch might be cheaper overall. Especially compared to a cloud core.
