Did you not notice that I said what the source is? Jared Diamond's Collapse?

You want chapter 15, starting on page 441, but it is a good idea to read the whole book.

I never said to repeal it. Repealing it would be bad. I don't support Trump or Obama. Also, I don't believe those filters completely filter out the lead. At best it's 99.x%, but that's from a really nice filter. What kind of filters did they get? Also, they are still showering in the water. What do you have to say about that? Did they also give everyone shower filters?

I found the first filter crappy that they offer: https://www.amazon.com/Brita-Basic-Faucet-Filter-System/dp/B000EOOQPW/?ie=UTF8&qid=1498673099&sr=8-3&keywords=brita+saff-100

This one is much better that they offer: https://www.amazon.com/PUR-3-Stage-Advanced-7-7-Inch-3-2-Inch/dp/B0009CEKY6/?ie=UTF8&qid=1498673366&sr=8-1&keywords=pur+faucet+mount+fm-3700b

And they offer this too, which I think would be needed: https://www.amazon.com/ZeroWater-Cup-Dispenser-Meter-ZD-018/dp/B003QXM3U8/?ie=UTF8&qid=1498673456&sr=8-1&keywords=ZeroWater+23-Cup+Dispenser+ZD-018

I'm picturing more this (Angry Billy Goat Terrorizes Town - youtube) than [this](cute baby goats jumping - compilation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTwIK-vEEKw) to justify my wrestle-goats-to-the-death-with-my-barehands-(maybe use a stick or rock if they have horns)-and-eat-them -after-thoroughly-killing-any-worms-to-live ... ...and taking a few bottles of goat dewormer with me just in case any survive or, more likely, any eggs are ingested. better to kill those things before they have a chance to get a foothold!

It's all fun & games until the gore kicks in! (not linking to those videos)

Whatever happened with Billy? He still hopping around somewhere or has he since moved on to that great pasture in the sky?

The only thing that gives me hope on this is that a bunch of startups are working on making it cheaper to grow meat in vats than with animal agriculture, and it's about 99% more efficient that way. A great new book on this is Clean Meat.

It'll be a while before we're vat-growing filets but milk, leather, collagen, and egg whites will likely hit the market within a year or two, and ground meat doesn't look too far off.

Change can happen rapidly if the economics are right. Whaling was the fifth-largest industry in the U.S., with a lot of political power, then somebody invented kerosene and 95% of the whaling industry was gone in 30 years. (What remained was just for the whale bones in corsets; that lasted until the invention of spring steel.)

Most of the grain we grow is for animal feed. If we stop doing that, a lot of that land can just go back to prairie and forest.
