I purchased some 3M Scotch-Blue 2090 tape and it works great. I have a hole in my plate from a fault I had in one of my prints and the tape seems to fix the hole.
I am currently using a raft as it seems the best and have had no adhesion issues since I applied the tape.
FWIW I ordered and have successfully printed with both Hatchbox and USAFilament (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LKL2Y5W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01)
I did see a bit of the "leaking" that the OP mentioned with the USA Filament, but otherwise it's been fine for the prints I've been making.
I used little glue dots.
