A few things:
SuperHot (you stand in one place)
Chronos (fixed camera position in a 3rd person adventure)
Eleven: Table Tennis (ping pong simulation, 1:1 physical movement only)
BigScreen (not a game, but lets you screen share with friends or join public rooms)
Pinball FX2 (if you like pinball this is a great sim)
I Expect You To Die (an "escape the room" game with great quality and humor)
Wilson's Heart (a stylized "film noir" story/puzzle/adventure game with fixed teleport positions)
The Unspoken (become a Dr. Strange-like mage in 1v1 or single player magic battles; I haven't played the single-player campaign but the PvP only uses teleport to fixed spots)
Star Trek Bridge Crew (you're seated on the bridge of the Enterprise)
Space Pirate Trainer (physical movement only; you're too busy dodging bullets to get sick)
That should give you a good start! Welcome to the future!
Edit: Some people swear by the VR Cover replacement facial interface, but I haven't used it. I've also heard great things about the WidmoVR cover - it covers the standard Rift facial interface with a replaceable soft cover that may make it more comfortable. You may want to check it out as a slightly cheaper alternative.
How big is your planned playspace?
Additional sensors, cables to extend the headset USB/HDMI. Avoid going above 2m extenders as you may have issues and need HDMI repeaters.
PCI Card for people with substandard USB subsystems
These are the good cards which work for most people and are recommended by Oculus
StarTek 2 port card (1 controller) – Cheaper StarTek option that could be used for 2 sensors or a sensor and headset.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013HT6K3Q
Supported Inatek 4 port card (1 controller) – Don't get the 5 or 7 port card as the design is not really suited for Rift sensors.
https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-Expansion/dp/B00B6ZCNGM
Use the Inatek for your two front facing cameras and nothing else. Plug your third or fourth USB 2.0 camera and Rift HMD into your motherboard.
Supported StarTek 4 port card (2 Controllers) – Optional middle tier PCI card solution which can run all four sensors or 3 sensors and HMD. Equivalent to two Inatek cards.
https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00HJZE9VK
Supported StarTek 4 port card (4 Controllers) – Optional top of the range PCI card solution which can run all four sensors or 3 sensors and HMD. Equivalent to four Inatek cards.

Edit: You again :) I've responded to 3 of your posts today :) Seems like you made a decision. Some more stuff below you could think about.
Replacement Interfaces, Covers and Foam Inserts
VR Cover is what you need when you have sweaty friends who leave your headset foam soaking wet and gross.
I'd recommend the new facial interface with easily swappable foam pads. Swap out that soaking wet foam in seconds for the next person using the Rift.
Alternatively you can go the cheap option of just a cover for the existing rift interface but it takes a bit longer (~30 seconds) to swap and is nowhere near as comfortable.
While the cheap option is great the newer facial interface and velour foam pads are much more comfortable and better than the stock foam.
All of the above are washable as well.
For glasses wearers that do offer the replacement interface in a "deeper" version but it may impact on the FOV (Field of View) of the Rift as your eyes are further from the lenses. I have never tried these.
Video explaining how they work and why they are different

Screen Protectors
These Healingshield 48mm curved watch face protectors work a treat if you want to protect the lenses from scratches. I was skeptical they might impact the visuals but I honestly can't notice them at all. Don't buy any cheap versions of these as they are usually flat and don't sit on the curved lenses of the Rift properly. These ones fit perfectly and have no issues with bubbling.
Mounting Sensors
If you want to mount the sensors in the corner of your room you can unscrew the sensors from their base and attach them to wall mounts.
If you have access to a 3D printer these. I use them for three of mine
or these
Here is another picture of the sensor itself:
http://imgur.com/VJgtyLj
Here is the gear that I used:
Light Stands (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HNZJLG4/) - These things are great. Very easy to setup, very small base (can be expanded if you want, but the sensors are light and they seem very stable).
Mini Ball Heads (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M07M9D4) - Make for easier adjustment and greater tilting.
USB Cables (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7SA21U/ - 10 ft, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7S2FRE/ - 6 ft) - Passive were fine for the two sensors at that length.
Very happy to get these off my desk and higher up. I need to get my third sensor setup as well because the angle that they are pointing makes it tough to detect at the back of my play space (it's about 6 x 9).
Overall very happy with the setup and all the advice I received from this board. This is a really great community.
So you have four corners on the recessed ceiling (higher up), and four corners on the lower ceiling. I would almost prefer to put the cameras in the corners of the lower ceiling, because it would give a more straight-on view of the player/controllers. Each camera has a narrower viewing cone at extreme close proximity. The further from the main playspace they are, the more that cone has a chance to "spread out" and cover the actual playspace. In this case, you would draw your playspace with at least (2 ft) or (0.6 m) distance from each of the four walls, so people don't bash their knuckles at the borders.
However, you might not want your cameras to be further than (12 ft) or (3.6 m) apart from each other (for best tracking quality). I don't have a big enough room to run into this limit, so you may be fine with further spaced out cameras. If the lower ceiling corners are further apart than (12 ft) or (3.6 m), then you may want to put them in the recessed ceiling anyways. You can always ignore the Oculus Rift setup's warnings about camera spacing, by the way. In fact, with larger playspaces, the Oculus setup wizard will always complain. Don't worry about it.
Also, you might want to consider using this USB card. It can handle the throughput of all four cameras in USB 3.0 mode, if desired. You can downgrade any camera to USB 2.0 by simply running a USB 2.0 cable to that camera instead of 3.0. A passive USB 2.0 cable is fine for short runs, but consider an active USB 2.0 cable (like the one that comes in the box of an extra Rift camera) for longer runs. You should put your Rift headset in one of the motherboard's USB 3.0 ports (USB 2.0 might actually be fine), and then put all four cameras (you might only need three cameras) in the USB extension card.
You can search this subreddit for discussions on whether you want/need to have the cameras/headset on 3.0 or 2.0. I prefer to run everything at USB 3.0, but it may not be necessary.
For USB 3.0 cable runs that are less than 10 feet (say, those corners nearest to your computer tower), use these passive USB 3.0 cables. You're also going to want a passive USB 3.0 extension for your Rift headset.
For USB 3.0 cable runs that are more than 10 feet away, you should use an active USB 3.0 cable. This is necessary for cameras that are further away from your tower. Note that the cable I linked has an optional barrel port for a 12V power supply. You only need to power these cables if you're daisy-chaining two or more of them in a row (for runs longer than (33 ft) or (10 m)).
These CAT6 round cable clips should work well for cable routing, especially for the slightly thicker active USB 3.0 cables. These general-purpose adhesive cable clips work fine for runs of the thinner, passive USB cables, but you may have issues with the adhesive depending on your wall.
You'll want this HDMI extension cable for your Rift headset, to make use of the extra space. I've had a good experience with bunching the HDMI and USB Rift headset extensions together by using these lightweight Velcro ties. I have about a (10 ft) or (3 m) square playspace, so you may encounter different problems than me if your playspace is larger. I only have three cameras, and it works fine. Good luck in your setup, I'm sure whatever you do will work great!
Although Robo Recall was a bit too arcadey for my tastes, it's still very fun and free, but Lone Echo... omfg, Lone Echo is amazing. Absolute must-play.
I also recommend Wilson's Heart, Obduction, and Robinson (which just got Touch support!) if you are into VR adventure games.
If you are into racing, and have all the right gear (seat + wheel + pedals), check out Dirt Rally and Project CARS 2, as well. They are incredible. I've noticed that people don't tend to have nausea problems with racing games when they are using a seat and wheel.
If you are ready to step things up, Elite: Dangerous is the one VR experience that keeps me coming back more than any other (Dirt Rally comes in second). You can easily spend a lot of money on it, though. Add a HOTAS setup, Voice Commander, and a VC voice pack, and you've added $300 to your purchase price... but once you do, it's no longer a game... you are genuinely living in space. I don't even really think of it as a game anymore. It's a second life. It's real.
Oh and as others have mentioned... don't leave your Rift near a window. Those damn fresnel lenses can damage your screen like a magnifying glass focusing on an ant... and Oculus will NOT repair it, not even for a fee.
Also, I strongly recommend mounting your cameras to a wall or ceiling. These are the mounts I use and recommend: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D49TU4/
I've found just about any USB3 extender cable works, but apparently, some people's motherboards don't output enough power for longer cables. If you run into that problem, use a USB3 or USB-C (if your mobo has one) based, independently powered hub. I've found you can get away with 2 cameras running over a single powered hub connected to a USB3 port, or 4 cameras connected to a hub connected to a USB-C port.
Here's the USB3 hub I recommend to everyone with power issues: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VDVCQ84/
Edit: Oh, and if you already have Alien: Isolation, there's now a mod that restores the game's original VR support for CV. Keep in mind, it still has plenty of rough edges and is gamepad only, but playing through that in VR is one my most cherished gaming memories.
I recently picked up the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS to replace my Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X. I would recommend the T.16000M setup over the T-Flight mostly because the throttle and stick are completely separate, which is easy to appreciate when you've fumbled around with the T-Flight's awkward design when it's separated. The T.16000M also feels a bit more robust and having more buttons/options on the throttle (especially in VR) is a huge plus. All that being said, I spent a lot of hours in Elite with the T-Flight and you can't really go wrong with it. I fondly recall the shit eating grin I had on my face the first time I throttled up and instantly felt more 'connected' with my ship. Cheers.
The best entry level HOTAS for Elite is (in my opinion) the T16000m setup. I've had that one, an X56, a T.Flight and a logitech flight stick and the 16000m is definitely my favorite. Plenty of buttons, pretty good ergonomics, affordable, and expandable (you can add a second stick and reverse the grips for your other hand as well as rudder peddles, though i don't actually like the ones that match the 16000m). It also has the same HALL sensors as the pro level Warthog flight stick. Elite in VR is awesome by the way
EDIT: you dont actually need a HOTAS for Elite though it is recommended by most people. I played like 300+ hours of Elite on an Xbox one pad. It isn't perfect but it works pretty well considering Elite has console support already so they have put thought into the pad controls. Also you can add a chatpad for extra binds. o7
I did a group test on USB3 extenders here is what I found out :
I tested using an Asus z170 Deluxe motherboard it has both Intel and AsMedia USB3 ports. I also used the Oculus recommended Inatek 7 port USB 3 Card.
——Worked——
Cables in this category mean the sensor detected as USB3 in Oculus devices and didn’t lose connection and provided solid tracking testing with the headset on, no matter what brand of USB3 port it was connected to (Intel, AsMedia,Inatek).

I use a Vive Link Box to extend the headset. I like this approach because it does not really matter what cables you use because it's an active repeater with its own psu and it's made with VR in mind.
I use it as a breakout box to connect my puter in the bedroom to my Rift in the living room. I'm also using the displayport (dp to mini dp cable) connection on the Link, freeing up my limited hdmi for my projector. It's nice to be able to plug into an dedicated ports in an attractive component sitting nicely on a shelf whenever I want to use it.
Link Box

For sensors I found the ugreen active 3.0 extensions recommended on this sub to work very well (meaning they do not revert to USB2.0).
I'm using a new Alienware 15 r3 (i7 6820K, GTX 1070) If you watch your deals you can get one for around $2.2K or less (got mine for $2K after tax.) They have some component issues they are working through at the moment but for the most part it runs like a dream. My AW15 replaced an enormous watercooled i7 4790K, GTX 980 ti Classified rig. Steam VR benchmarks on the two machines are within a few decimal points of each other at 10.8 & 11 respectively (Classified out ahead.) I have an Oculus and a Vive (and a PSVR & Gear VR) both run without a hitch, supersampling up to around 1.3 to 1.5 across the board (still need to do some fine tuning.) I run both HMDs through the Vive Linkbox plugged into the Thunderbolt 2 / DVI on the AW15, plug a second monitor into the HDMI (though I only use the external monitor) and still have a Thunderbolt 3 and AW Amplifier Port open for further horsepower and lighting fast storage, though it probably won't be needed for at least a year from now. 3 remaining USB 3 ports (one type C) I'm using 2 Anker 7 Port USB 3 Hubs for all other connections (3 Rift Sensors, Link Box, wireless keyboard, external RAID enclosure) everything seems to be working exceptionally well. You can get larger HUBs but you will overload a single USB 3 port so it is best split them up. All and all I am very happy with the switch to the laptop and I have room to grow with the TB3 and AW Amplifier for the future.

Seems to be pretty good. People also seemed to have success with using the Vive extension box (https://www.amazon.com/HTC-Vive-Link-Box-pc/dp/B01LXR6DKV/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=vive+box&qid=1550992342&s=gateway&sr=8-1)
I don’t know about that far. Maybe with active, it’s like 2am for me so I’ll take a better look at your-setup tomorrow and see if I have any suggestions. One question, do you use the oculus built in mic and audio?
Edit: oh looks like you have hdmi boosted from your cable description so you prob don’t need the HDMI repeater.

Great seller and great product. Sure, you could homebrew your own solution with dog leashes and ID badges but it will be more expensive with a marginally better benefit (if any). It comes with both anchors and adhesive pads. I have a popcorn/textured ceiling so I opted for the drywall anchors in the ceiling and they’ve worked beautifully despite the unconventional setup I have where I play VR.
You're potentially talking about different games. It might be that you're complaining that TF2 doesn't have Wii Balance Board inputs, if you get what I mean.
This is the first VR Input I'm thinking of maybe getting. Pretty sure it would work just fine with the Oculus or the Vive.
This will maybe be the second VRInput I'll get.
And my point is that both of those controllers are better than the HTC / Steam Lighthouse controllers, for flight- and car- based games.
So, it may be the difference between mouse+keyboard, vs console controller, vs Wii remotes. They're VERY DIFFERENT, and they're suited to different games.
I CAN'T play a FPS with a console controller or a Wii. I just can't make myself do it. I love keyboard+mouse just so, so much.
What will I want for a FPS with VR? I have no idea!
But for a flight sim, or a car sim, I want a real flight stick, or a real steering wheel.
EDIT: Then again, I sure hope the games I'm playing know exactly what kind of controller I'm using, and exactly where it is, so they can be rendered perfectly in VR... So yeah, maybe they will have Lighthouse positioning on them...? But not so I can pick them up and swing them around!
If you're going to share the rift with glasses owners, I recommend screen protectors. Once scratched it can never be replaced/fixed.
These fit really well:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00SJ22D5Q
You could probably fit the 43mm versions too, but this provides enough coverage and I cannot see the edge of the protector when playing.
Also, I generally wear contacts but find my eyes dry out and get itchy in the rift. I actually prefer playing with glasses. Buy these:
https://www.zennioptical.com/p/metal-alloy-full-rim-frame-with-spring-hinges/5500?skuId=550021
They look retarded but they're basically free and it's like they're hand-crafted for the rift. Absolutely perfect fit. "Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all..."
I was just reading another thread and decided to buy this just today. I had been looking at the x52 for a while, but it's like double the price of this, and have been hearing bad things about them after being bought out by madcatz.
This Thrustmaster was also designed together with frontier, so I'm guessing it should work pretty well? (will find out Friday) I hear the buttons don't feel as nice, as they're not mechanical except for the trigger, but apparently the sensor accuracy is better. Not really sure which is better better, but just giving you another option.
I'm coming from a T.Flight Hotas X and voice attack, and that's already working great, but I can't find a good way to mount the T.Flight, so looking for an upgrade.
Voice attack is amazing, and I honestly don't think I can go back to not using it. Like someone else said, anything not combat related I don't need buttons anymore, which was a big problem with my T.Flight
I have 4 sensors, each mounted on top of 7'6" DIY stands made out of cheap 5'9" Ikea floor lamps..2 lamps per stand, each in it's own corner. The 8' long stock cables of the sensors only have a few inches worth left over when mounted on the stands, so extensions are a must no matter where you position them. I use the 'Monoprice 15-Feet USB 3.0 Extension Cables' from Amazon, with the sensor in the far corner needing 2 cables to reach the stand. This gives me a 10'x10' area, with an actual playspace of 7'x7'. I also shelled out for a Startech 4 port USB3.0 PCI card recommended on the Oculus blog. The sensors on USB3.0 use a lot of power, so you'll need to connect either a SATA power adapter or a molex power adapter to the PCI card...if you go that route. I haven't had any issues whatsoever, completely glitch free. I used the Sensor Bounds app in Oculus to make sure the sensor beams covered my play area high enough, as well as covering the corners closest to the stands. The beams aren't 90 degrees, so the higher the top of the beam, the less the corner gets covered by the lower part of the beam. It takes a few minutes, but it helps to completely cover the entire play area.

Btw...the best part of my DIY stands...they only take up 10" squared. Tripods are at least 2' squared. I considered microphone stands, but they only extend 5' or so. Nowhere near tall enough.

I'm still waiting for my Rift actually, it arrives in another week, so not sure yet. But if you'd like I can report back when I get everything setup.
10m Active USB.3.0 Extensions (for front sensors)
3m USB 3.0 Extension (for HMD)
3m HDMI Extension (for HMD)
HDMI to DP Adapter (For GPU)
USB 3.0 PCI-E Card (to power the 10m active extensions)
I've read good things about all of these, with a lot of success stories. Hopefully all goes well on my end.
I bought this pack, it had 4 protectors in it iirc.
Just clean the lenses with a micro fiber cloth to make sure there is not dust on there.
If there is, it will create a bubble. I have one on mine, but it is not visible while wearing the rift, so I've decided to just leave it as it is.
The dust could damage the lens though if it gets pressed into the lens, so it would be best if there wasn't any dust.
I haven't tried it, but maybe warming up the protector a little before applying it could help it fit better.
You'll need to work the edge of the protector with your fingers for a few minutes until it stops peeling off, the protector is flexible enough to adjust to the curvature with some work.
For cable management, I use this one and like it a lot. The o rings in a prusik knot are great for gently griping the cable but the small hooks for the rings are not great for taking it down for seated games. I added cheap carabiners to make it real easy. Some systems just loop the cable trough a carabiner and that is not ideal but the combo of the two is perfect. So that one you are looking at would be fine just picking up some 2” diameter o-rings.
For my space, I have the cable run up the wall and across the ceiling using cable clips then near center room start using the badge holders. I use three towards opposite wall, then about 18” from wall loop back towards center of playspace using 2 more and stopping about 18” before center so cable is behind my head. Think a “J” configuration.
Works for me but you may need to modify based on your space.
Get Cable Guardian for rotation management so you don’t twist up your cable. Just search this sub for it.
I just use a 3M Command hooks on the wall for my HMD and controllers, works for me as there is no chance for knocking the HMD over. But if on the shelf works best for you that stand should work or just use a shoebox.
I can't say anything about the device you bought, but Anker's 10 Port 60W Data Hub works great for me (I'm using it on a laptop).
Pretty sure yours will be good enough but if you have a lot of peripherals to connect to it (besides the Rift stuff), it might not work completely, so try to connect only the bare minimum and then add stuff in to see if it stops working correctly.
I had endless problems with USB. Problem is it's different for everyone, many are fine with just their Motherboard's.
What I can tell you, if you want to run extension cables, the money no object solution (the only thing that go everything working acceptably for me) is the following:
Startech PEXUSB3S44V
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HJZEA2S
Also, found many of the recommended cables hit and miss but Ugreen's have been excellent. Always use the shortest you can.
For 2m I have these on one sensor and one on the Rift itself:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P0ES0YE
I also have 1m and 3m version on my other two sensors.
To go with the 2m extension to the Rift (only if needed obvious) I used (again Ugreen):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A30FLE2
Best of luck. Look forward to seeing you in there
I have successfully used the following 3' and 10' passive DisplayPort extensions:
StarTech.com 3 ft / 91 cm 20 pin DP DisplayPort Extension Panel Mount Cable - DisplayPort to DisplayPort - Male to Female:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YKX6JK
Cable Matters DisplayPort to DisplayPort Extension Cable (DP to DP Extension Cable) 10 Feet
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L1K1KDE
Note: I have occasionally observed static/sparkles in the video feed when using the 10 foot extension. Since the Rift S cable is 16 feet, adding another 10 feet seems to be on the verge of the limit for what we can do with passive extensions.
The following did NOT work:
StarTech.com DisplayPort Cable - 30 ft / 10m - Active - 4K DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable - DP Cable - Active DisplayPort Cable
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IFZN2O8
I connected this directly between my 1080ti and the Rift S. I had to use a female-female DP adapter.
The Oculus software showed the DP was connected, but the screen was totally blank/dead - nothing at all.
I did test the 30' active extension and female-female adapter with a 1080p LCD monitor and it was working fine, but no go for the Rift S. Either it can't handle the bandwidth, or something about this cable (perhaps the fact that is a unidirectional cable) prevents it from working it with the Rift S.
The StarTech was the only active DisplayPort extension I could find -- if anybody has experience with any others, please comment!
Sure thing fam!
USB 2.0 16 ft - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006LFL4X0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
USB 3.0 15 ft - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AA0U08M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
HDMI cable 10ft - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CRA11IU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
HDMI Repeater - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M02Z4FU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The good news is with a repeater you can just use a regular HDMI cable and not an extension with male/female connectors. I only bought an extra cable because all the ones I had lying around were only 6ft or so and I wanted longer.
I had some crackling in the audio the first time I connected the headset with extensions but hasn't been any since then (not sure if I had/have it on 2.0 or 3.0 for the headset which would be the culprit since HDMI is only for the video portion and USB carries audio).
Like I said - all of these are working on my current setup. Motherboard is an MSI Z97-G45 Gaming with my 4790k and running a 1080 ti GPU. Monitors are on display port so am fortunately able to run this directly from the GPU's open HDMI slot.
I also use an Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop and the extensions all work with it as well so hopefully you have good results!
Total : $505
You may not get the HOTAS with it, but for $500 you can get pretty close to OPs setup. Not as fancy, but definitely plenty good enough for a highly immersive VR experience. ;)
USB extenders usually have more luck at the 10-15' range, especially if they are active. My two front sensors have 15' active USB 3.0 extension cables and they work perfectly fine.
For my headset I used a 10' HDMI passive extender and a 10' passive USB 3.0 extender. I didn't want to go past 10' for the headset in case I had problems, plus the additional 10' was more than enough.
For reference, this is the HDMI extender I used specifically (note amazon canada):
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B004C4SECG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Depending on your computer placement you might need a usb3 extension cable for one of your sensors, your 3rd sensor you purchased comes with one but I needed a second one for my other sensor due to placments. This is also option but I grabbed a 10ft HDMI and 10FT usb3 extension cable fro my headset as well to help give me better range with more slack. Also some camera mounts for mounting your sensors on the walls helps alot.
For referance these are what I ordered, im in Canada so these are all Canadian links so you may need to find your local equivalent

I'm running a similar setup to what you're looking at, just a bit shorter and less expensive. I couldn't see the need for the extra five feet.

Some zip ties, heat shrink and cable sleeving keeps it nice and tidy. I keep it clipped to the side of my desk with a binder clip to keep tension off the back of my computer. It also makes it nice and easy to disconnect when I'm not using it.
Other people have reported having good luck with the Vive box.
https://www.amazon.com/HTC-Vive-Link-Box-pc/dp/B01LXR6DKV/
If you go that route you'll also need to find a power supply and you still need to find cables.
I didn't have any luck with the Insignia cable from BestBuy. It's seems pretty hit or miss.
Hygiene will be an issue, nothing to do with trust. Some people sweat in sitting games. Some people are known to wear makeup on their face - in a variety of skin tones, sometimes with a bit of glitter! But, simply buy a waterproof VRCover and stock alcohol wipes (and make sure nobody wipes the lenses with them.)
https://www.amazon.com/Oculus-Interface-Standard-Version-Replacement/dp/B01MQZVF6K/
The receptionist or whoever is closest will have to do a bit of tech support. Just make sure they get "training time" to enjoy VR themselves.
Get lens protectors. I wear glasses and had the same fear, got the 42mm Healingshield protectors that have been recommended elsewhere on this subreddit and they fit perfectly. Quick to install and if they get damaged/dirty over time, they're easy to replace. You really can't see them when you're wearing the Rift, I tried looking to the sides with it on my face and you can't find the transition between the protector and where it ends at all. I would say these are a must have for those with glasses and just a good general safety precaution for anyone else.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SJ22D5Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Carabiners are useful. Clip one to a back belt loop on a pair of jeans/etc, then loop the cable through it. It goes a long way towards keeping the cable out of the way of your feet. It also cuts down on the amount of "tugging" you feel on your head as you pull the cable along behind you, which makes it feel a little less immersion-breaking.
> Do I need to get some extension cables to allow more freedom of movement further away from my PC? If so, which ones?
I think so, assuming you have the play space. Oculus has some recommended cables. I bought these 10ft extensions on Amazon and they have served me well with quite a few different headsets with no issues - HDMI and USB
I have provided the links to the products I use.

If you think you're going to be sweating quite a bit (perhaps because of beat saber) I recommend a different facepad by VR Cover.
https://www.amazon.com/Oculus-Facial-Interface-Replacement-Hygiene/dp/B01MQZVF6K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1541091609&sr=8-2&keywords=oculus+face+pad

Like TOO_FUTURE said before me, definitely set up a ceiling rig so you dont have to worry about cables running around the floor.
https://www.amazon.com/MIDWEC-Packs-Management-Oculus-Headset/dp/B06XY5WKXW/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1541091631&sr=8-10&keywords=oculus+accessories

Lastly, you might want to think about investing in a 3rd Oculus sensor. Having that 360 degree coverage and not having to worry about facing forward all the time will make your VR experience that much better.
https://www.amazon.com/Oculus-Sensor-16ft-Repeater-Cable-pc/dp/B0727WDPX6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541091677&sr=8-3&keywords=oculus+sensor
You now have an awesome clamp mount that will allow you to mount your sensors to any shelf or desk surface that's less than 2" thick, super-fast and easy. Side note: this clamp mount works for anything else that accepts a 1/4" screw as well, including small cameras, flashes (with the appropriate hot shoe), webcams, microphones (1/2" to 5/8" adapter may be necessary), etc.
In terms of where to mount, Oculus prefers that the first two sensors you set up are within 6 feet of each other, on one side of the room. However, you do not need to do this. I often just mount mine on opposite corners of the room (the same way an HTC Vive is set up) for better roomscale experiences. Note that you'll need a USB 3.0 extension cable to do this. I've had good luck with this 5m one for $15. The Oculus software will complain that they're too far apart but you can still hit the Next button and everything will be fine. I recommend mounting them 2-3 feet above head level, pointing down at roughly a 30-45 degree angle so that they cover the entire area. Make sure the play area you intend to use is visible to the sensors even while kneeling/lying on the floor. If they're not, move/re-aim them.
All of that said, if you can drop an extra $60 for a third sensor, I'd recommend ordering this one which is bundled with a 5m USB 2.0 cable. Note that USB 2.0 is fine for the 3rd sensor but not for the first 2 because tracking gets impacted, if it even lets you get past room setup. If you do end up getting a third sensor, mount it somewhere in the room opposite the other two so that you have a sort of triangle. This should give you best-case scenario roomscale tracking. Note that you'll need to get a third clamp, screw, nut, and mini ball head for your third sensor unless you just want to set it on one of your shelves.
As a side note, there are many mini ball heads on Amazon that are cheaper (by up to half) than the ones I linked. I'm a photographer so I had these lying around. However, I've used cheaper ones and they suck. If you can afford them, get the Giottos.
Not sure if "cord commander" (awesome name btw) is the same as Cable Guardian but yes, I can also highly recommend a ceiling setup if possible. I built mine with these: Keychains, HDMI extension, USB extension
I have also crafted a solution for the keychain HMD pull issue, and will be posting pics and instructions when I get them prepared.
It might be! I will say though I just got that powered USB3 hub recommended by people (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZQ07NE), and I went from having to split my headset and 2 sensors across my motherboards USB2 and a 5-port Inateck USB3 PCI-E card to now having my headset and 2 sensors plugged into the hub, and the hub itself is plugged into the Inateck, and everything works great. I think it really just depends on people's particular setups/motherboards/USB.
edit: Actually I just double checked. I have a single sensor and the headset plugged into the hub, which is plugged into the Inateck, and my second sensor is also plugged into the Inateck. Before that powered hub, I wasn't able to have all three plugged into the Inateck itself without errors. So in my particular case, it definitely seems like it was a power issue.
I've invested some €30 in this VR cable solution: link amazon . It works pretty well, though you can still get tangled up in the cable when you tend to turn too much in one direction compared to the other (apparently, I much prefer to turning to the left for some reason). It does get the cable successfully out of your feet however. All in all it's worth the price I'd say. As I live in Europe, I bought it on amazon.de .
I used this on my oculus quest works great and is super clear
Healingshield Watch Face Protector Guard [Front 3pcs] (42mm(1.65in))

I would think so, I know /u/Cybereality (Oculus staff) listed various successful cable extenders [here] (https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/30513/yes-extension-cables-do-work-w-cv1/p1) I personally got active extenders [here] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00MPMFKSI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) or in the USA I think people were having success with [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-Female-Extension/dp/B00DMFB5OK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462293641&sr=8-1&keywords=active+extender+usb+3.0)
Yeah, I bought these 2 extension cables (6ft), wall mount for the headset/touch controllers and cable suspension system. They all work perfectly :)

and yes works perfectly, haven't had any issues with it
I got this usb 3.0 extender : https://www.amazon.ca/UGREEN-Extension-Extender-Transfer-Playstation/dp/B00P0ES0YE/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&qid=1519593671&sr=8-30&keywords=ugreen+usb+3
I got this hdmi extender : https://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=3342
The hdmi one is recommended from oculus' website itself. Link : https://www.oculus.com/blog/oculus-roomscale-extra-equipment/
I had tried another usb and hdmi extender before that didn't work. Those two worked. I have a gtx 1070.
Good luck my friend.
I have a MSI Gaming Z97 GAMING 5 motherboard. I purchased these:
USB: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00GV0MUJ2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
HDMI: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B004C4SECG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I tested them both last night and they worked. I had a random passive 2.5m usb 2.0 extender sitting around and it worked to extend my sensor last night as well.
Yes, I stayed up too late perfecting my set up before my controllers arrive today..
Had same issue setting up third sensor and even after I did after much fiddling I had lag and stuttering in vr. My rift is using a gaming laptop so ymmv, but my tracking setup and issue was 100% resolved by adding an anker 7 port powered usb hub and moving the headset and two sensors to the hub. Roomscale tracking is now nearly perfect. You could also add a powered PCIE usb card in a tower with good results. Search this sub and you will see it is nearly always a usb power issue with adding that third sensor.
One more thing, stand at a diagonal angle when in oculus sensor setup as all three sensors need to see the touch.
Here is the hub I use:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZQ07NE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use the Cable Matters DP and USB cablse. Sorry my memory failed me, actually I just got the 1.8m (6 feet) it seems. I forgot I got a shorter one for the Rift S (had much longer 15' HDMI ones for cv1). The included cable on the Rift S being longer made this all I needed to reach all parts of my play space. I really just like to have something between the headset and my video card ports, and an easy access to unplug/replug right next to the couch, so these work perfect for me.
I did a quick search and found some folks talking about using at least 10' extension and maybe up to 5m, but couldn't find a link to a specific cable (I only looked for about 1 minute, I'm sure if you dust off your Google-fu you can find it if you really need one that long, I would imagine such a cable would include an active repeater and perhaps get kinda pricey).
Here is that thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/beloox/oculus_rift_s_display_port_extension/
And here are the one's I am using with no issues:
6' (1.8m) DP cable (Cable Matters):

6' USB cable (Cable Matters):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7S2FRE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought mine for the 2nd sensor i got with the Touch controllers, the cable is from CSL and is 5 meter long or also 16 feet like the one you mentioned.
It's a usb 3.0 active repeater cable and is working like a charm.
Got it from here
Some of the higher level players swear by kb+m for pvp and combat. They play flat, but it is what it is considering. If you can get used to kb+m or controller, you'll be fine.
However this is the HOTAS I own, and I would recommend it any day. Elite has preset bindings for a good selection of HOTAS already, and this is no exception.
I have this hub. I just checked with it and nothing is different. I just tried all combinations. Hub plugged into a 3.1 port on my mobo and the rift plugged into both the charging port as well as the rift plugged into any other port. Hub plugged into the 3.0 port on my renesas extension and the rift plugged into both the charging port as well as it plugged into any other port. No difference.

I guess one of my last options is to get an inatek port. Hoping best buy is open tomorrow and they have one.
I bought 2 meter HDMI and usb3(x2) extensions, and have their 3 ends strapped into a neat bundle, this is then secured discretely to the leg of my desk (I use velcro to keep things portable). I then have one of these attached about 60cm from the plug end of the rift's cable that gets clipped onto a drawer handle when the rift is plugged in and in use to protect the rift cables from being yanked out (kids, pets, clumsiness). When not in use, I have the cables coiled under my desk or inside the same old 15" neoprene laptop cover that I keep my rift in. This then either sits on my desk or is kept out of the way on the floor, propped up against the wall/desk (or under my desk).
edit: I have a big, solid, bankers-type desk. YMMV...
A lot of people, including myself have done this. I had mixed results with the original Rift personally, but it seems to work a lot better with the S possibly because the cable is heavier.
You can get retractable cable hooks on amazon. Having a retractable system will allow you to crouch without pulling on the cable/hook
> "Which all of you know is a must to enjoy this."
Can't say I agree but to each their own.
Have you tried the Vive Link Box? I've heard that people have extended their Rift length with it.
Maybe this youtube video can help. Also make sure you have your latest BIOS for your motherboard and of course drivers. I got a 2700x this year and had tons of usb issues with the Rift which was weird since it ran fine on my old pc. Turned out I just needed to upgrade my bios.
I can assume you are talking about the Hygiene set on Amazon? https://www.amazon.com/Oculus-Facial-Interface-Replacement-Hygiene/dp/B01MQZVF6K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1538429079&sr=8-5&keywords=vrcovers
It is the same items as sold on their site. The kit gives you their interface, 2 leather covers, and their comfort cover. Not sure what else you are looking for or what else you're expecting? They work great.
I use these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009XRUDZI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P0ES0YE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I didn't need longer ones but both work fine They do longer ones too, you may need active ones over a certain length though
This is what you want. I wear glasses and these are both clear and protected me from a good scratch.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SJ22D5Q?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd
I bought some USB 3.0 and DP 1.4 6ft extension cables to use with a pulley system and they work flawlessly on my index, so it should work just as good with the Rift S. Personally I wouldn't go over 10ft, only if you want to invest in some active cables.
The cables I got:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RJ13CH9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Lone Echo is a great game but only 6-8 hours only other game on your list i have played is Elite Dangerous i have about 800 hours into it, but the game is not for everyone. Watch some youtube before you buy it it can be hard to get into but once you get flying and the controllers down its a lot of fun. If you get ED i suggest a HOTAS this one will work good.
1.) Buy some:
You might want to extend Rift's cables. I use:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NH12O5I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
2.) My Rift lays on the table. I cover it with a towel (with a moomin on it xD)
Do you know if when you ordered off Amazon.ca it was directly from them, or from a third party? On their website now, it says they are only selling through third party sellers and im trying to figure out if its always been like that or they are just out of stock... (https://www.amazon.ca/Oculus-Rift-PC-Powered-Gaming-Headset/dp/B07PTMKYS7/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=oculus+rift+s&qid=1559265640&s=gateway&sr=8-3)
Check out VTOL VR. It is completely playable with only the Touch controllers.
That being said, DCS is tons of fun in VR. I use a Thrustmaster T16000M stick and throttle which works great with most of the modules.
I've noticed that I can only use my wireless adapter in certain USB ports otherwise it'll constantly disconnect. I think it has to do with a power issue as it solved itself as soon as I got a powered USB hub.
And before anyone assumes I was using an unpowered USB hub I was using one of my mobo's USB 3.0 ports. I even tried my monitors USB port and it still would constantly disconnect. Now that I'm running a powered USB hub through my monitor's USB port everything works great.
I'm using this in case anyone was wondering. http://amzn.com/B00VDVCQ84
For 2 meters or less almost any decent cable will work, bigger than that you need active cables and hdmi repeater.
These are the ones I use and they work perfectly (6ft, 2m)

I think it is more about power than the cabling...
Inatek USB card as noted below, which is available on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00PAFDW3M/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
or a Powered hub might work for you, it helped me though I already had it, but the PCI card is probably better:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00VDVCQ84/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
or a shorter Amazon basics cable length perhaps? 6feet instead of 9?
If this is the facial interface you got, then yes they work amazingly together. I have this exact face plate and a pair of WidmoVR lenses and you will be entirely satisfied! The WidmoVR lenses are amazing! That face plate comes with a nice cloth cover that totally makes up for the stock foam that scratches the shit out of your face. You can also remove the cover and stick with the nylon foam, which is nice and comfy too, but if you get hot fast it can become a little uncomfortable.
Here ya go
It's just a 15' Monoprice active extension, as clearly shown in the video around 1:40. A Monoprice (non active) 2.0 cable is what came included in the box for me when I bought my 3'rd sensor. I recently replaced my Monoprice active extension because it was giving me issues... :/
You really need a HOTAS for flight sims in VR. This is a good price. It will be the best thing you ever bought.

These are the mounts we used, and a lot cheaper than the ones linked on the wiki: OdiySurveil (TM) Metal CCD Security Housing Mount Bracket for CCTV Camera
We also bought this 3.0 USB Anker port as I was under the impression we would need it and it was recommended on a thread. We actually ended up not needing it, but we still have it available in case we need to free up usb slots. I would double check on other threads that it does indeed work before just taking my word for it, as I haven't tested it yet personally
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MQZVF6K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is the one I recommend.
For the Glasses if you are on a Rift these are the ones you want.

Make sure you know your IPD, don't guess here as this could throw everything off.
If you have any questions further I would recommend filling out this form

They will be the most suited to answer more detailed questions than I have answers for.
You should get some sort of cover to protect the lenses. I've heard watch face protectors work pretty well (though I haven't yet tried them myself): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SJ22D5Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2
Would like to say this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A30FLE2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 HDMI extension works well too! :)
Yes, I'm planning on returning it now. Although I was thinking to get the cable that the wiki recommends, which is this one It seems to be slightly cheaper compared to your link and has a number of reviews to back it up a little. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Not available in most stores for same-day pick-up, but beats Amazon's next-week availability.
USB extensions
I also had a bit of confusion when reading through Oculus' guide to room-scaling about what to buy to extend my range, so I though I'd at least share what I bought for three sensors:
Total: $57.03
I bought the two pack of extenders because I've had iffy-luck with HDMI cables from Amazon before, and it was only a few bucks more for another one.
Amazon has the same listing in the US: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PTMKYS7
And I check it everyday !! So like you I'm eagerly waiting.
I am using this combo HDMI/USB 3.0 extension cable (10 feet). Don't need to worry about passive/active stuff, just plug and play. I have been using these for 3 weeks now and they are flawless.

I only know of Amazon and Best Buy (online). Here’s a link from Amazon:
Oculus Sensor
My 3 sensor setup is and has been working flawless for me. My system is an Asus maximus viii hero and an Nvidia GTX 1080. My two front cameras are on USB3 both on extension cables from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P0ES0YE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and the back camera is on USB2 with monoprice extension cable. All sensors are mounted from my drop ceiling.
Would this work or do they need to be active? https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-Female-Extension/dp/B00CFL6ARO/ref=sr_1_cc_4?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1481005336&sr=1-4-catcorr&keywords=usb+3.0+extension
It seems on the oculus setup guide I can use a 2.0 extension which I already have so I think I'll be okay. Thank you.
For it to help with power issues, it has to be powered separately by a plug. The success stories I linked in my comments used these:
This HDMI extension is the one officially recommended for the headset by the Oculus wiki. Note that it says 6ft extension max, not sure if any length beyond that will work or not.
Be sure to buy a matching length USB 3.0 if you extend the headset HDMI. Apparently the one I added to my wish list on amazon has disappeared and I cannot figure out how the heck to find the oculus wiki page with extension suggestions, so that's frustrating me right now. lol
EDIT: Found it, this is the USB 3.0 6ft extension to match the 6ft HDMI extension: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7S2FRE/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3MBEYWUWT48H&colid=1YO6HWUKO56VO
Yes, I have all my cables extended.
Here are the USB cables I use for the sensor camera and HMD USB connections and [here is the HMDI coupler I use] (http://smile.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Plated-Female-Coupler/dp/B00CJHXY0U?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00) plus a generic HDMI 6 feet cable from Monoprice I ordered some time ago (plus my 970 has a mini to norm HDMI dongle too). There is a USB extender cord packaged with the Rift that I use for the Xbox dongle.
Looks like all the dongles and extra cables work just fine.
I routed all the cables to the front so I can easily plug and unplug everything without crawling under the desk and scooting the PC around...
I'd try the amazon basic HDMI cord. It's very thick, which is technically undesirable for other applications, but it's a very good thing for VR as it lets you move the data further
The amazon basic USB 3.0 extension is also cheap and works. But length is more of an issue with USB than HDMI, so keep that in mind when ordering. For instance, if you want to do a set up with longer than 10ft HDMI, I'd use a USB 2.0 extension or alternatively find an active solution so the USB 3.0 works.
EDIT: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-Female-Extension-Cable/dp/B01D5H91KE?th=1 (I used the 10 ft, and have no problems, YMMV)
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Extension-Cable-Male-Female/dp/B00NH12O5I (same as above, remember the USB stuff is finicky and depends on the PSU on your computer. But I'd say under 10 ft --this is 9.8ft-- is fine)
After your follow the instructions to get them straight. Invest in a pulley system to keep them up off the floor.

I have these. Works great!
These are super low profile: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R96X9DS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And I use these rather than tape to hide my cables to keep the wife happy:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Wiremold-1-Piece-0-75-in-x-60-in-Cord-Cable-Organization-Kit-Ivory-Cord-Cover/3129629
Also this to go "wireless":
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6EB8DM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I, and multiple other people, have found great success using wall powered USB hubs. Zero problems with USB power or bandwith post using one of these.
Is this for VR? I use a suspended cable management system like this one:
www.amazon.com/Retractable-Management-Headset-MDW-Adhesive/dp/B01M6EB8DM/
Coupled with one of these belt clips:
https://www.bindvr.com
This solution has eliminated all my cable hassles entirely. The overhead system keeps the cable off the floor and the belt clip keeps the cable from pulling on your head when/if it gets bound. Works great!
However, it will be VERY obvious to you when you need the third sensor. You'll find yourself frequently facing the direction without sensors and visual glitches everywhere, trying to turn around and deal with whatever in game objective you were dealing with previously.
If your not experiencing this then wait :)

Here's one
I'm not sure which specific one I bought, but they all should be pretty similar. The 3m adhesive thing keeps it so you don't have to damage your ceiling either. They're absolutely a necessity for PCVR imo
I'm using these and they work great.

Some notes:
1 - I set up my cable with one of these kits, in my experience unless you train yourself, because you're still going to primarily turn in one direction, the wire will still get twisted, you need to take off the headset and untwist it occasionally (if you feel it pulling)
2 - This screw needs to be in a drywall anchor, or a bigger screw into a stud. It might feel snug now and work fine enough for you to ignore everyone's advice thus far, but it will eventually tear out. Best case scenario, you're left with a small hole.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6EB8DM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This works too.
Been using it for both my rift and vive without issues.
Truly the best way to play.
I bought this and it works perfectly fine for me.
AmazonBasics High-Speed Male to Female HDMI 2.0 Extension Cable - 10 Feet
MSI Z170A, i5 6600k, RX 480 8GB.
Yeah the headset does tilt a bit, enough to press into your face. If you take it off and just hold it in your hands you can see the side arms can rotate up and down, maybe like 10 degrees or so, which in turn changes the angle of the display part. On me this shift is enough to almost close the nose gap.
I use 2x 5m active USB 3.0 extenders that look like the Monoprice / CableCreations ones (a lot of people gave them good reviews on here), but they're generic branded so cheaper and would be the same components, as a few companies just rebrand them:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AA0U08M
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0179MXKU8
I bought 2 of these recommened in Heaneys Roomscale Guide.
You've got me worried now! I already have the 10m version of this cable and found that the cameras weren't detected connected to this extension when it was plugged into either of my intel USB3.0 ports. Luckily it worked connected to my Asmedia USB3.1 port. I hope these 5m versions work plugged into the Startech card!!
Thank you!
Yes all devices were recognized as 3.0. Here are the extensions:
USB
HDMI
I bought a ugreen hdmi extension, and an Amazon basics usb 3.0 extension, working perfectly. From Amazon.ca

I'm running a gigabyte z170 motherboard, and a GTX 1080ti reference card. All 3 sensors + headset are into motherboard, no expansion card needed for me.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQZVF6K
I just got one of these and it's great. A must have if mutliple people use your headset as the material is much easier to clean. Also, there's no need to worry about hair getting threaded in the foam anymore! Also comes with a washable cotton cover you can put over the padding
I don't get how so many people are able to plug 3 (or 4!) sensors into a powered hub. I have this Anker one that was recommended in other threads and I get the USB controller bandwidth alert when I have more than 2 sensors or the HMD + 2 sensors connected. I've tried plugging the hub into the motherboard and into the Inateck card.
edit: wonder if my USB 3.0 ports are not running at full speed like in this thread, will check when I get home.
I have ordered this active USB 3.0 extension, picking it up today.
According to this guy it works fine, and so do most of the USB 3.0 cables regardless of active/not active.
I use just a set of suspenders for my cord and it gets things done pretty well I have never messed with a cord Kiwi Design VR Cable Wire Cord... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777H24ZG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
thanks for your reply! Mine are about 10 feet away from each other, at two different heights (one's base is about 2.5 feet off the ground, the other about 5 feet). I'll test it out a bit more when I get home from work. the extension does seem like the most likely source of problems. it's a 5m active cable, this one here.
I got this and that
Works like a charm.
For the 2 sensors on the wall above the computer I'm using 10ft USB 3.0 extension cables. For the 3rd camera I'm using a 16.4ft USB 2.0 extension cable, as well as a 6ft USB 3.0 extension cable because the 2.0 cable wasn't long enough. I have all 3 cameras plugged into the same USB controller on the motherboard. Since I'm using a 2.0 extension cable, the 3rd camera is running via USB 2.0.
I'm using a 10ft HDMI extension cable and a 10ft USB 3.0 cable for the headset. The extension cables are electrical taped together and secured to my desk using velcro straps. I have the headset USB plugged into a PCI-E USB card I bought because I was running out of USB ports.
It's worth noting that for the first couple of days, I was getting occasional errors where the it said the headset was disconnected and I would have to unplug the USB and plug it back in. Since moving the headset to the USB on the PCI-E card (off the same controller as the sensors) I have not had this issue or any other issues to speak of.

Getting a proper Hotas will make ED much much better even in non VR mode.
I've heard mixed things about saitek hotas'. While they look and feel really good, I hear they break pretty easily and saitek customer service is shitty AFAIK.
I'd recommend getting the thrustmaster t.16000m Hotas.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B01KCHPRXA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501722497&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=thrustmaster+t-16000m&dpPl=1&dpID=41FobH-77SL&ref=plSrch
It was designed with elite dangerous in mind, I think they collaborated with Frontier.
This is what I have and it's fantastic for elite dangerous. They button layout on the throttle is really smart, although the lack of buttons on the stick itself is slightly annoying. In Canada it was cheaper than the x52 by $50 and I couldn't be happier with it.
My friend has the widmovr lenses, and they work great and pop out really easily
I use Healingshield Watch Face Protector Guard [Front 3pcs] (42mm(1.65in)) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SJ22D5Q?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf and don't notice any distortion but I might just be used to it.
My Monoprice 10ft HDMI extender works great! See the wiki, or here.
The easiest way is to just buy a ready-made kit like this one (which I personally use):
https://www.amazon.com/Managment-Suspension-Playstation-Microsoft-Accessories/dp/B0777H24ZG
It depends on where you have your computer. The rift cable is about 3 feet shorter than the Vive, which comes with this extension box to use extension cables. This box needs external power via a power plug, which means more cables, while the best buy solution is less messy.
https://www.amazon.com/Managment-Suspension-Playstation-Microsoft-Accessories/dp/B0777H24ZG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542356874&sr=8-3&keywords=vr+cable+management&dpID=414ZOskM6DL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
its rather cheap, needs some time to set up right, looks wonky, but the effect... oh boy, its sooo much better that way
So, these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/CSL-repeater-extension-amplification-amplifier/dp/B00MPMFKSI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499795238&sr=8-1&keywords=active%2Busb%2B3.0%2Bextension&th=1
with the original 2.5 would be ok then?
Edit: According to reviews on the cable, this is perfect.
2 Ordered!
I believe some of these sellers will ship out to Europe, though it make take some time. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00SJ22D5Q/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new
I've also heard of Vive users putting KlearKare protectors on, but I'm wary as these need water to apply - and you don't want to wreck your Rift while trying to protect it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4fmqcl/tested_out_watch_lens_protector_for_vive_lens/
Alternatively, you can buy lens inserts so you don't have to use glasses:

If you check the Wiki for extension, there is the monoprice one.
Also you could go with a HDMI coupler + HDMI cable route. Like this one from monoprice and a quality HDMI cable like this one from Monoprice too.
This is true. I bought the Rankie and USB 2.0 6ft and I'm having issues. Super disappointed

This is what i ordered for the USB hub
HOTAS if you plan to fly
Wheel if you plan to drive
Gun Stock if you plan to play online FPS
SkullCap if you sweat a lot, it will keep your hair from making your headset wet
Mamut grips for comfort
These get near-universal praise on here, I actually got one on a whim today and set it up an hour ago.

I assume you mean Flight Stick and/or HoTaS by controller ?
Depends on your budget, really. The default recommendation for lower budgets is the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X, it's the best of the very cheap stuff : https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-Flight-Hotas-Flight-Stick-pc/dp/B001CXYMFS/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_t_1/144-3896507-6211029?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=68D5QCDNF8F3TNA7K8QG
But i'd really recommend to go higher-budget and get the model above, from the same manufacturer, the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS : https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-16000M-FCS-HOTAS-Controller/dp/B01KCHPRXA
The stick is comparable, but the Throttle is a lot better.
If you're going higher-budget than that (there's really no limit to those ahAh) you should do research, /r/hotas is a good subreddit. You're likely to see a lot of recommendations for the X52 and X55 but I wouldn't really recommend them, for the price they're very plasticky, and have too high of a failure rate.
If you mean gamepad, then go with the Xbox One controller, it's fine.
Get this one, it is just perfect for Elite and VR https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-16000M-FCS-HOTAS-Controller/dp/B01KCHPRXA
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JJ519KC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C7S2FRE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and these are the ones I got as recommendations on this subreddit and they work flawless.
If you want to do 10ft extensions on the Rift S you need high quality cables, at least for the usb 3.0. I use Cables Matters usb and displayport cables to do 10ft on my Rift S. Nothing I have seen will allow the Rift S to do longer than 10 feet extensions.
The amazon basics 10ft usb cable would not work for me and I returned it and the cables matter one did. You also need a good usb port, in my case I needed to order an Inateck ktu3fr-4p usb card to have my Rift S work without and black screens or static passthrough problems.
