Compressed air tank with black rubber fill valve dust coverIncludes yellow thread cap and rebuild/repair instructionsLightweight aluminum compositePure energy reactor regulator
This is my 'setup' right now. It's balanced well and works just fine, though I do take off the air tank to run it as a secondary with a holster.
I would definitely recommend getting this holster -- the one made by Tippmann is utter garbage. This one is adjustable, so it works with most pistols and can fit the TiPX with some work.
12-gram CO2 cartridges fit in shotgun shell loops like a glove. So do 10-round tubes, the best way to reload your magazines as you go.
I use this vest and it fits five extra magazines: two for each of the bottom-forward large pockets, and one in the pocket directly above that with the four shell loops. Those will fit CO2 cartridges perfectly.
A word of warning, though... while this vest works perfectly fine, it's a bitch to clean and I'm starting to regret that I didn't get a MOLLE vest with mag pouches. You can't hold more than five magazines with this vest.
Also, consider getting the FXR carbine-mod when it becomes available next month. And even if you don't like that, the ZetaMag (which is an extended magazine that gives you 20 shots per magazine) is definitely worth a look.
When I started I pieced together a kit from decently priced items. I bought a Tippmann A5, tank, remote, and mask for maybe $200 or so. It was a pretty good setup for starting out, IMO, and you can add all sorts of frivolous / helpful things to something like an A5 when you have some playing money.
I'd suggest the BT-4 Combat, just for starting out. I actually JUST bought one on ebay for $70. They're $80-$100 on Amazon. From what I've seen of it, it's pretty similar to the A5. Thehiddenhedgehog uses one to good effect on his youtube channel.

I like Empire tanks personally. I've used them since I started.

This was my first mask. Took a .68 to the face my first game. Worked great! I've upgraded a few times since then, but I still have it and really like it.
http://www.amazon.com/US-Army-Ranger-Performance-Goggle/dp/B001TKP74E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457389082&sr=8-1&keywords=us+army+paintball+mask
$87 marker + $22 tank + $26 mask = $135. Add whatever shipping would be and that leaves plenty of room for pods, a remote line, and any gear you might want (vest, camo, boots, gloves, etc).
Get each thing individually. Packages are a rip off and most of the stuff that comes with it is complete trash.
The Empire Helix is the cheapest dual pane mask I think? Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.
The Proto Primo is the best gravity fed hopper you can buy. The next best thing would probably be a used Halo B or something, and that's gonna run you around $50 or so. And for a mech gun you don't really need a force fed.
This 47/3000 HPA tank is cheap and suitable. Cheapest I think you can find.
35 + 12 + 40 = 87. Round up to 90 for the sake of simplicity and shipping. Might even be closer to $100. Leaves you between 0 and 75 given your earlier stated budget.
Everybody around here will tell you that a GoG eNMEy is the best mechanical gun you can buy. And they would be right. But they're $150 new and around $100 used. If you can find a used one and don't mind the extra scratch, go for it and you'll have a pretty good budget setup. If not, you can find a 98 Custom or something along those lines and still have a good time out there. Search the used markets. A great thing about 98 Customs is that they're rental guns. Fields that either shut down or are changing stock will often sell off their old rentals cheap as dirt. I've seen 98s go for as low as $30.
Granted, if you're buying a rental gun you can assume it's been beat to shit. But these things really are tanks. They're kind of a pain in the ass to work on, but there's really not too much to mess with on them internally. If you're even reasonably handy, it shouldn't be something to worry about. Another similar blowback marker that's used as rentals are BT-4s. Not sure if they're really functionally any better or worse than 98s though.
If you have any more questions I'd be happy to help. Unfortunately paintball is an expensive sport/hobby to get into and your budget doesn't give much room to work with. Good luck and have fun out there.
I do not know why you need a Knife in paintball, I like the pods in the back with my tank on a line so its less in front so I can crouch easier. My friend uses this one Click me for link He enjoys it, I prefer just a pod belt. The pod belt I use is this Proto 3+4
it is not the price that matters.
a thermal lens is two-paned and works very well against fogging. avoid those "anti-fog coating" lenses. they never work as well as a thermal lens. the keyword when browsing for the correct lens is "thermal."
find one that fits your face. again, price is not paramount. proshields start at under $50 and have thermal lenses. they have been around for something like 10 - 20 years, so every pro shop worth their salt would want to stock replacement lenses for them, which makes it convenient to you when it's your turn to change the lenses. the same length of availability also gave them the advantage of having a huge variety of color choices, though most of the fancier ones are more likely limited editions and you would only find them on the used market. the mask itself is modular so you can swap color parts. http://www.amazon.com/JT-ProShield-Thermal-Paintball-Black/dp/B00083DEWU
but if fogging is a concern, the priority in your mask choice should be that first, followed by comfort. looks and price should be last, because it really is a safety equipment.
“The sight of shooting someone is so satisfying” here comes another school shooter with a bad upbringing, jk man. All honesty it sounds like your buddy needs a job to support his new found hobby and paintball is a money pit. I wouldn’t suggest giving him all your money dude, after all that is YOUR money but if you wanna do something for him i saw someone suggested this earlier in another post save your money and get him this if you really want.

this one is good
pods to go with
you're gonna love it :)
Check the manual and parts guide and get some Dow 33 grease. And the maintenance is easy. There's YouTube videos on it. Basically just clean and re-grease the o-rings between each day of play.
I like the rail. The mask is basicly useless UNLESS you pyt a thermal lens into it, you need this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002VEZ9E/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1457964941&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=proto+switch+lens&dpPl=1&dpID=41vJsSyN-XL&ref=plSrch.
That deal is respectable, I paid 250 for just the marker last year. Just factor in a thermal lens and an HPA tank, and decide if its an amount of money your willing to spend to get started. You will probably upgrade that hopper eventually, and ideally you would want to find a better mask, I reccomend proflexes. But all and all I think this package is a decent way to get started.
Just want to itterate one more time, you need a thermal lens or else you not playing paintball, your playing "blind man with a gun"-ball
https://www.amazon.com/Powerex-MHR9V-230mAh-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B0002LAKOS
So these are true 9.6v NiMH rechargable batteries. They are akin to the old batteries inside of spyders and powerex has always been the OEM behind these. I used them back in the day for vintage guitar effect pedals and was surprised when I got back into Paintball to see that people didn't know about them. They are over 10v when fully charged and finish near 9.1 when fully discharged. They are hands down the best battery for paintball and a pair of them with a charger might run you 30 bucks and you don't have some frankly ridiculous frankenpack battery weighing you down.
I don't have this particular gear bag but I have a smaller bag made by the same company and it's been very good to me!
I'm pretty sure this is the one youre looking for. http://www.amazon.com/JTUSA-Elite-Thermal-Paintball-Mask/dp/B00083LMBA
I always recommend my pod pack when this question inevitably comes up.

Really aren't many options at this price that are as good from what I can tell.
I went with these:

> 4) There are carbon fiber 17, 22, 25/4500 etc tanks on amazon and ebay. They are not called paintball tanks. Check high pressuure tanks like below IORMAN 0.35L 4500psi Carbon Fiber Air Tank https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYTL3PV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fEcRCbA56ADB7

Kinda tight if you're buying new.
Usable gear would be a kit like this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B019EALJ10/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1522785480&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=paintball+kit&dpPl=1&dpID=51zEMBiWPML&ref=plSrch
...but throw the mask it comes with away and use a Helix thermal.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002C01IWU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522785682&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=helix+thermal&psc=1&smid=A371G8H8A5MY53
Something like this maybe?
Vforce profilers work great, but the coating stopped working after several months. Now I use the Proto Axis mask with thermal lens, though its tight on my glasses.
Check out Cat Crap anti fog for your glasses. You buff on and then off. It works pretty well.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002ZNA488
I have a Raptor, it was my first mask. It was uncomfortable for me, fit kind of weird. It's a single pane lens, so it'll probably fog up while you're playing.
I then bought a JT Proshield which lasted me 2 years before I decided to get a different mask on a whim. I still keep it in my gearbag because it's a good backup mask.
Spend the extra money, get a Proshield at a minimum.

I just bought after a buddy from out of town showed me his at clowns vs zombies. 75$ shipped to my door, and it holds a ton. My main complaint is that I cannot lock the zippers closed. Weird thing is it looks like you can only order through amazon and there aren't many pictures online.
Have the exact same tank and I got this for it: Exalt Paintball 68/70/72ci Carbon Fiber Tank Cover - Black / Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0088RA4EE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_jA74ybE5Q1KR6

I don't believe they're being made any longer. I have two of these.
They're cheap to buy used. Usually cost less than $50. Their life span lasts as long as they keep passing hydrotests. But, they are heavy.
If you can scrape together another $10, you could always go with a flex8 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00083DETS/ref=twister_B00083C6NI?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
As others have said just go with DOW 33......you can find a giant tube of it on Amazon under Dow Corning Molykote 33. Or this link : http://www.amazon.com/Dow-Corning-Molykote-Grease-Lubricant/dp/B0141NIS8M/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450356580&sr=8-2-fkmr1&keywords=dow+33+mo
I shoot and tech the vanquishes and luxes for my team and bought a single tube of this 2+ yrs ago and I still have a ton left.
Anti fog. https://www.amazon.com/EK-10003C-Cat-Crap/dp/B002ZNA488
