Cheap and not too crazy. You can always pick up a sounding kit for $15.
Get some way to sterilize, like alcohol, and some surgical lube to prevent infections. Bladder infections are not fun...
I got mine from Amazon, specifically this set. They are great quality and I haven't had any problems.
I would recommend starting with the 4mm end of the first sound, 3mm is almost too small and feels sharp.
These are what I have and I've been very happy with them. Lots of size variability, and slowly increasing sized tips to help with stretching
