Yess the good stuff!! This is the one in the video, but I'd actually recommend the IngenuiTea or IngenuiTea2 - they're a bit easier to clean IMO! Happy tea-making! 🍵🙏

u/Einsteins_coffee_mug · 3 pointsr/pocketoperators

Yup.

these are my favorite for hand held PO noodling since they keep the cable neat cooked up like that. Takes up less room than a straight 3’ cable would.

And these guys are great for a nice solid desktop setup.

Depending on how you record or mix the output, you may want to pickup a 3.5mm to 1/4” breakout cable to deal with any stereo/balancing issues you might encounter.

NP! You’ll want something like this to convert from RCA to 3.5

As far as recording, AudioShare seems to be the best. And it supports copy paste into into apps like GarageBand and Gadget

After some discussions with other users, I realized capturing the stereo backup file is a bit trickier than expected with a PC. But I found a solution using a $18 audio capture card from amazon that works perfectly. I recorded a complete walk-through, but if you're familiar with the process, the only missing piece for you is the USB stereo audio capture card. Here's the specific one I used:

If you have any questions or if I can clarify anything or improve the video, please let me know.

Thanks!

I have an AmazonBasics electronics organizer that I keep in my bag, pocket operators fit perfectly in the mesh pocket side, folds in without issues, holds more stuff, and costs $12: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Universal-Travel-Electronics-Accessories/dp/B002VPE1QG

That said, I'v been in Morocco past few days and just too much hustle going on for me to bust it out and try to make a beat with something cool in the background. So traveling with it, easy, using it while traveling, still working on that part...

For those who are new to hobby and not considering getting a field recorder yet, but want to save samples - could be a good option. I’m using this USB audio capture card https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Audio-Capture-Windows-10-11/dp/B019T9KS04 .

u/TheTomorrowMachine · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

If it’s a combined headset input, I don’t think it will take audio in from a regular aux cable. A small USB interface will work great for just AUX out recording. I use this on my MacBook Air and it works great:

u/Proper_Refrigerator · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

Well I record my PO-20 using this interface and this wire. It's all worked perfectly well for me.

u/AsksAStupidQuestion · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

Did you get any kind of protective case for yours? I bought a little case for like 5 bucks in hopes it would protect it some.

u/PoopRaider · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

Yeah I got this https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP-153-Stereo-Breakout-Cable/dp/B000068O3C

It works to if you unplug one of them if you have two different inputs. It sounds great now!

u/just_em_cee · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

I use this cable

https://www.amazon.com/Headset-Buddy-Line-level-Smartphones-iPhone-Mic-Line/dp/B00OAW85ZG

to record straight into my iPhone, all you need is a 3.5mm aux cord and a headphone input (TRRS). It would also work to record into the MacBook with decent quality, but you will trade stereo quality for mono. If you want to maintain your stereo field, I highly recommend a 2 channel audio interface to record in left and right as 2 separate channels.

u/ironmonger_ · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

Looks like that interface has a stereo input, so you'd need to daisy chain and sync your POs in order to record them at the same time (aux cable from output of one to input of the other).

Then you'd connect a cable like the one linked below to your POs output (sorry on mobile can't see a better way to link), and plug the white jack into the left input on your interface and the red jack into right input.

That ought to do it, your interface seems pretty old but assuming you have the right drivers etc it should be fine.

I use this little dongle if I want to record to my phone. Seems like it works out good.

3.5mm Headphone Adapter, MillSO CTIA Audio Splitter (2 TRS Female to 1 TRRS Male) Compatible for Xbox One, PS4, Smartphone, Laptop to a Double Plugs Gaming Headset Adapter - 30cm/12inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0788M8W77/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ZZMEDb3F1J90D

u/Rayman323 · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

If you mean something like this then you can do the same with any free audio recording software and one of these things.

Just sync up the audio with the visual in a video editor of your choice, and your set!

u/B_Provisional · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

Well obviously you need the proper cables or adapters to go from the PO's stereo 3.5mm/1/8" output to the guitar pedal's mono 6.35mm/1/4" input. I would personally use a 1/8" stereo to dual 1/4" Y-cable like this because I happen to have a bunch of them already. But there are any number of solutions.

As for switching on the pedal... it needs to be powered and connected. The "on" switch is the foot toggle on the front. RTFM?

u/ignurant · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

Sure... just need something like this, most likely. Switch the input to Line level (as opposed to Phono).
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0018KUS9E/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1505084873&sr=1-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=rca+to+1%2F8+adapter&dpPl=1&dpID=413eUFQbBiL&ref=plSrch

If you want to route the audio into Traktor and use Traktor effects, you'll need an audio card that supports line in. I don't know what the good recommendations are these days for that. I use an ancient NI Audio 4, but you can literally use anything that allows you to get audio in. If it's an old MacBook Pro (2012 or earlier) the audio jack can act as either in or out. If it's a windows laptop, you might have audio in. Without a dedicated sound card for input, you might have some latency, but I imagine you can get it sorted.

u/JohnnyJiuJitsu · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

There’s a video on YouTube. It’s in the settings somewhere https://youtu.be/sB4MT9H8SjE
Edit: you might need a usb audio interface. Something like this : Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter for Windows and Mac. Plug and Play No Drivers Needed. (AU-MMSA) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_r2z2DbNJW2NZ4

u/slick8086 · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

What kind of split cable?

something like this should work..

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006T65CXE

The thing is regular audio splitters don't generally have the right connectors for the cell phone side.

u/markofthedevil · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

You can get something like this to separate the input and output from the macbook 3.5mm jack:

StarTech.com Headset adapter for headsets with separate headphone / microphone plugs - 3.5mm 4 position to 2x 3 position 3.5mm M/F https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SP0WAQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_NHuoybDGNWKK9

u/SlickPocket · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

You might want one of these for recording into audio interfaces or plugging into certain sound systems: 3.5mm stereo to dual 1/4” Mono Y-Cable

u/niceguy44 · 3 pointsr/pocketoperators

That's the plan! I can't really record anything right now tbh, but I ordered a "Headset Buddy" from Amazon after seeing people talk about it here and on YouTube, which will enable me to record. Other than that I've just got an aux cable, a headphone splitter to listen + record at the same time, and the 3.5mm to iPhone thingy.

u/johnlago · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

This little thing is technically an audio interface, but very small and cheap. Gets the job done (in stereo for the backups!) for my PO-33. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019T9KS04/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_l-4WDbXB93TX1

u/bonobo_34 · 2 pointsr/pocketoperators

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009XH4HU I use this mixer with up to 8 POs in mono or 4 in stereo. It's cheap, battery powered (one 9 volt), and sounds decent enough for POs which are kind of lofi to begin with. For sending sync to all the POs I use the korg synckontrol iOS app (no android version unfortunately) hooked up to a series of headphone splitters.

u/JensonCoins · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

Yup. It's a odd. A lot of those connector kids seem to be audio > digital, so you'd need an adapter to step the line out to an audio jack, then run it through a connector kit (like iRig), to convert it back to digital... it seems like you should able to cut out the middle bit.

I found this mic connector which might work...

u/walkie26 · 10 pointsr/pocketoperators

The Amazon Basics case for My Passport hard drives is cheap and just about the perfect size. My wife had one for her backup drive, but now it's my PO travel case. :-)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003LSTD38/

u/webchimex · 5 pointsr/pocketoperators

I personally recomend you the po-33 because you can sample anything. THe sequencer part is mostly the same on all PO as far as i know.

For recording to your computer you need to check that you have some sort of line in jack, either 3.5 microphone or line in. Something like this:3.5 male - male cable.

u/indzhev · 1 pointr/pocketoperators

If you talk about sampling from the phone to the PO I think the PO itself makes the samples much worse, than your phone. If you talk about samples aleady made by PO and want to send them to the phone, all microphone jacks will ruin your record. Behringer UCA202 is a cheap audio interface and should do the trick with most devices (you will need an adapter). I tried it with IPAD and it works. Most probably will work with android too with OTG cable.
