Amazing how many people still have that general model of router...I do some "IT-related-work", and frequently encourage customers to upgrade from these.

The biggest thing with these is that Wireless G has been out of use since around...2009, 2010? And while it says speeds are 54Mbps, that's a max theoretical, and is literally never reached by these devices. Practical speeds are 19-22Mbps.

It seems like your external antenna is helping with range, which would be another one of the pitfalls of wireless G.

Since you've asked for suggestions in some of the other posts on here, I would say if you wanted to upgrade, my recommendation would be a Dual-Band Wireless N (or if you wanted to spend more money, Tri-Band Wireless AC), where you use the 2.4GHz band and your antenna for the POGO players, and the 5GHz band for your personal devices (assuming that your devices have 5GHz capability). And, as others have said, you can use DD-WRT or something similar, and limit the available domains/ports.

Examples - Dual Band Wireless N or Tri Band Wireless AC. I used the Dual Band one for 4 years before I ended upgrading, and it worked great for me.

Awesome on you for wanting to try such an ambitious project!

> This is not true

So you trust Amazon and Gamestop over Nintendo? It clearly states on both the UK and German Nintendo shop that Go Plus is currently only compatible with "iPhone 5/5c/5s/SE/6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus with iOS 8 - 9" and that "As of July 2016, the Pokémon GO Plus compatibility with phones using the Android operating system is under development."

No mention of Android anywhere on Amazon, though it seems Gamestop indeed claims compatibility with both iOS and Android. I doubt they know more about the development progress than Nintendo though, and are just being "optimistic" it will be ready in time so they can sell to more people.

Idk what that would be like.

The charge is this small USB cable that has like this shell and 2 metal points on the bottom.

I did buy this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ABST70E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for $5. It fits so damn perfect, and looks better than the original

Edit: I jsut checked amazon for that mi band charger, it looks identical!

Update: The mi band 2 charger also looks the same, but they say they are not compatible with the other.

How do you define expensive?I purchased this and with really heavy use throughout the year I've only gone through 2 batteries. That's less than $2 for a full years worth of batteries.

They are so cheap that whenever I find a friend who owns a go plus, I just give them 2 batteries. 2 batteries should last a year for 95% of people and cost pennies.

Any app that requires login could lead to a ban because all the requests to niantic servers are made from your IP that they can match with the one returned from PoGO.

If you want to give it a try, ScanGO doesn't require login and doesn't interact in any way with niantic servers from your device:

Github: https://github.com/pompobit/ScanGO

It is based on thirdy part services, so it is slower than the apps that use logins, but you can see that the speed is more than acceptable, runs in background even with the app closed and it has system background notifications and pokemon filters.

disclaimer: I'm the dev of ScanGO ;)

Absolutely. This is the one I got, extremely fast shipping, no issues with the device and works great on TMobile. My only real complaints are pretty minor - when comparing to an S8 or iPhone, the screen colors are a little odd and not near as bright in direct sunlight and the camera isn't amazing, but isn't awful by any means. Battery life is solid and overall construction is solid. Micro usb and no waterproofing is a bummer, but it's a great little device for the price and the game runs flawlessly on it.

I purchased THIS
one last week. It doesn't fit tightly and haven't been able to get a solid connection to fully charge it.
EDIT: (definitely not the right one.. It doesn't work.)

I use a fairly reliable antenna from the router and an adapter to switch from SMA to TNC. It works wonders and it's relatively cheap.

I'm not too familiar with the dev side of things so do you think just allowing niantic alone would cut it or do they have different login server domains, etc?
