interesting sets...where should I start? I already told you Chatot and Sylveon, so I'll skip them. if I already mentioned some of these others, I apologize:

  • Flygon with max Attack and Special Defense EVs, with a perfect Special Defense IV, and holding an assault vest. Earth Power and Dragon Claw for STAB, Steel Wing for fairies, and Flamethrower to cover its 4x Ice weakness. neutral nature, which isn't great, but I do prefer that over something hindering.
  • Absol with Slash, Psycho Cut, Night Slash, the Super Luck ability, holding a Scope Lens instead of its mega stone. Flamethrower for some unexpected coverage against bug types, Psycho Cut covers Fighting types. it has a perfect Speed IV and max Attack and Speed EVs. another neutral nature, but again, it isn't a problem.
  • Bellossom, set up to work for doubles with my Vileplume as well as by itself(although Vileplume works better alone): Sunny Day, Solarbeam for STAB, Moonblast and Moonlight. holding a Heat Rock, both it and Vileplume have Chlorophyll. planning max EVs on its defenses, although I'm still training that one since I need more stuff for doubles anyway. the nature is Sassy, which helps for something with boosted defenses, and the perfect HP, Special Attack and Special Defense IVs aren't bad either.
  • Vileplume doesn't have sun by itself. instead, it has Venoshock and Toxic instead of Moonblast and Sunny Day, max HP and Special Attack EVs. Naive nature really helps in doubles more than anything. there aren't any perfect IVs on this, but it has a 30 in speed, which actually makes it pretty fast for a Vileplume without Sunny Day or EV training its speed.
  • Relicanth with Scald, Ice Beam, Earthquake and Rock Slide. it has Swift Swim, so it can also be used in doubles along with the Rain Dish Ludicolo that I'll be working on soon. however, with max EVs on Defense and HP, it can more than hold its own in singles without Sturdy(which is the ability I was hoping for while hunting, but Swift Swim is also quite usable for something so slow.) it's also Naive, which is also beneficial in doubles, and it has a perfect IV in HP as well. I'm not sure what item to give it, but I'm thinking Assault Vest to cover that low stat a little better. either that or Leftovers.
  • next up is one of 3 things in Marill's family. I was shiny hunting for a Sap Sipper and ended up with 7 without it. I traded away 5 of those, kept 2 that I liked, and eventually hatched the Sap Sipper by complete accident, with a bunch of other troll moves on it. first is the defensive one. a Marill with what I thought were perfect Defense and Special Defense IVs, but as it turns out after messing with some Homebrew stuff and checking my saves with it, they're actually both 22 rather than 31. either way, it's still a good set. EV trained both defenses, gave it Eviolite, taught it Aqua Ring, Defense Curl, Aqua Tail and Play Rough. the ability is Huge Power, which helps but it isn't exactly necessary on a defensive set. I could have run with that no matter which ability it was.
  • Azumarill, EV trained HP and Attack, gave it Leftovers, taught in Aqua Ring, Aqua Tail, Play Rough and Dig. this is something I use pretty regularly, and it can usually take a hit without losing all that much. Naughty nature, which boosts attack, and a perfect IV in Attack, combined with the ability that I flipped, from Thick Fat to Huge Power, easily makes it one of my most competitive shinies.
  • the Sap Sipper Marill has 3 egg moves, Perish Song, Present and Camouflage. I'll also be teaching that Aqua Ring. it's also holding a Red Card, which can maximize the trolling if it gets hit by any contact moves. I haven't EV trained it yet, since I have no idea where they should go, but I'll probably end up boosting its defenses.
  • Medicham with Zen Headbutt and Reversal as primary STAB, and it has Recover and Guard Swap. it naturally has the Pure Power ability, and it also holds its mega stone, so it would get it regardless. my strategy tends to be that I get hit, use Reversal at low HP, follow up with Recover, and repeat as long as I can. I might replace Guard Swap with something like Drain Punch at some point, since I barely get use out of the move and it's just taking up a slot at this point. its nature is Adamant, which is probably the best thing I could have on a Medicham. EV trained its Attack and Speed. it gets one-shot a lot more than I'd like to admit, but it isn't exactly the strongest thing around, even with its mega.
  • Braviary, which has a Modest nature(terrible for a physical attacker) and 0 IVs in Speed. I EV trained both its Attack and Speed, flipped its ability from Keen Eye to Sheer Force, gave it a Life orb, and it's actually one of my most viable self-caught shinies. Steel Wing, Brave Bird(which takes recoil from both it and the Life orb despite the ability), Roost and Air Slash. I think we've talked about this, but Sheer Force and Life orb gives you the 20% boost and for most moves, doesn't caught the Life orb's damage. one of the reasons this Braviary has Air Slash is because Aerial Ace takes life orb damage, which I would rather save for Brave Bird.
  • Venomoth with Roost, Poison Fang(which has a 50% chance to badly poison and does damage, I'll take that chance instead of just giving it Toxic), Venoshock and Bug Buzz. EV trained max Special Attack and Speed, Gentle nature, which doesn't really help or harm my set.
  • Sneasel with Fling, Metal Claw, Ice Punch and Thief. holding a Hard Stone, because it does the most damage without slowing it down. the Iron Ball would do 30 more damage, but halves speed, which would be very bad for something so fragile. the strategy here is to throw the hard stone upon entry, then to start stealing items. if I get something useless like a Meadow Plate, throw it back at them again and steal something else. that has been very useful. Metal Claw is great for Fairy coverage. EV trained Attack and Speed. perfect Attack, Defense and Special Attack IVs.

did I mention all of those sets were on my shinies? I have way more that are a work-in-progress that I can list, especially for some sets that aren't on my shinies like the crazy Baton Pass team I'm working on, but RES says I've already used 6000/10000 characters so far, so I'm going to move on for now and address the other points. as my sets here have taught you, I don't tend to use status moves either when I can have nice coverage instead, but there are some really great ones that I use frequently, like Roost. as Poison Fang on my Venomoth shows, I'd rather have my status moves also do damage when possible. I love moves like Nuzzle for this reason.

it's good that you're interested in what the Wii U has to offer. I would definitely argue that Wind Waker HD is pointless unless you get it for real cheap, since the Gamecube version looks better when upscaled than the Wii U port looks. it's a bit sad, but even with the stuff with the triforce charts that get cut down at the end, I'd still rather play the original. everything else you said is understandable. I'd highly recommend Super Mario 3D world if you can find it for cheap, even if you're not too big on Mario.

from the sound of it, you could probably import UK consoles and get some power adapters for cheaper than getting a console that's Norwegian. like this but for Norway and the UK instead of the UK and the US. it's a shame that these things aren't as accessible to you.

it's actually the case that every Nintendo handheld before now, and I believe every other handheld from other companies, has been region-free. it's a shame that the 3DS took a step backward while the PS4 is one of the first truly region-free consoles. there's always a way to get around that, though. I briefly mentioned homebrew stuff I've done with my 3DS very recently, and within there is a region-free launcher, which would allow me to play PAL games for example, without a PAL system. I don't have any use for that, but it's still pretty great.

regarding Castlevania, it's not really that it's repetitive, as much as that I simply didn't like it. despite being regarded as the best one in the series, Super Castlevania 4 was very unforgiving, and I didn't care enough to continue emulating it. it felt like I was fighting with the controls the whole time, and it just wasn't fun. I've been told that the newer games are very different, to the point where fans of the NES and SNES ones don't even think it's the same series anymore. I might care more for those, but I haven't given any of them a fair try.

regarding Elder Scrolls, it's a bit of both, but it's mostly that I haven't given it much of a chance. I'm definitely much more into turn-based and RTS games that fall under the RPG genre moreso than expansive, open-world sandbox RPGs like Elder Scrolls, but I don't think I would hate it. there are some exceptions to every rule, like I said about shooters a few commens back. I'm definitely interested in Kingdom Hearts, and despite not liking Square's battle systems in the past(the Final Fantasy games and Mario RPG weren't fun for me at all, despite both of those having amazing stories) I've been told that Kingdom Hearts is very different and it's not quite a traditional RPG, and it's kind of its own thing. I've heard some pretty mixed things about Chain of Memories, and it seems like the system in Paper Mario: Sticker Star. I'm actually in the minority, where I didn't hate Sticker Star, but I definitely still much prefer the first 2 games in that series.

my apologies for getting back to you so late, but as you see, there was a lot to list, a lot I had to double check, and I'm still right up against that character limit. anyway, if you've got everything, let me know when we can trade.

> That's impressive if you can read all that Japanese. Did you study it or did you just translate the page?

I studied it and used to be pretty good at it, but after not speaking/reading Japanese for over 2 years, I'm really bad at it now, unfortunately. I still can read lots of Kanji, though.

Thank you so much for the recipe! It appears as if this one was made by the same person who made the Pokéblocks guide (kakeru). :D This will be very helpful in the future!

> I'll check out my local gameshops and see if they have any copies I can pick up cheap. I do have a few extra memory cards and they shouldn't be that expensive to mail.

Oh my, that would be indescribably awesome! o_O I realised I need to buy an English game anyways. I have a German Ruby and a German Emerald only so far, so I'll probably should go for Sapphire. Or any other game, as long as the battery is still working.

I have also looked for the e-Reader and the cards on the internet and I actually found a cheap e-Reader and the one pack of cards I would need to get the crucial Nutpea berry (ラッカ) on amazon.com, but unfortunately shipping would cost me over £60 … :/ You wouldn't happen to be willing to have these two items shipped to you and then forward them to me, would you? (#__#)' I feel a bit stupid for asking but I can't bring myself not to mention it, I'm desperate …

> is there a list somewhere of the Pokemon you can get the purification ribbon for?

You can get the purification ribbon for every Pokémon that can be purified after you have snagged them in either Colosseum or XD. Here’s a list of snaggable Pokémon in Colosseum, and here’s a list of snaggable Pokémon in XD. If you want a special Pokémon, the capture guide for XD by Smogon could be useful.

> If you need help with any berries on 4th Gen just let me know. I just recently got them all and have been planting and growing them like crazy.

I'm missing #57, #58, #62, #63 and #64. Do you actually have all of them, I mean, all 64 of them? ô_ô Would be so happy if I could get all of them! Is there anything I could help you with? I'm more than willing to give back!

PS: I've read some of your other posts so far. You seem to really know what you're doing and to enjoy the games a lot. I like that, as I see myself as someone playing like this too. Very soothing to know there are others out there; I sometimes get the feeling everyone's just liking the 'story' so much, having huge problems with Gym leaders and the Elite 4, never really looking into the games deeper, and then starting all over again after 40 hours or so (which is perfectly fine, of course, just very different from how and why I play) … :S

Edit: grammar, berries in Gen IV

Hello! Fellow senior Civil Engineering student here! Pretty cool giveaway you have; I especially like the Engineering theme!

  • IGN: Jaycee

  • Requested: Structural since that’s my intended concentration!

  • Deposited: Female Lvl 12 Inkay, Nest Ball

  • Favorite LEGO Set: https://www.amazon.com/Spongebob-Neighbors-Bikini-Bottom-3834/dp/B001GN6XI8

SpongeBob was one of my favorite toons growing up and enjoyed building this set. Also a little tribute to Stephen Hillenburg (creator) who recently passed away.

Thanks in advance and I hope all goes well for your future in engineering!

Some people around here farm them, as in get literally dozens every once in a while and trade. If you wanna do the same, or get your own: here is a link to the ISO of the colosseum bonus disc. You can try burning it on a disc and shoving it in the gamecube, get a cable, a gameboy advance, and R/S/E and you're set. I know gamecube discs are smaller than usual, but you can buy your own mini DVDs to burn on from amazon. Here's a good one I found; half a real disc's price, and multiple discs in case anything happens. GOOD LUCK!

EDIT: I added the wrong amazon link, fixed.

That sounds pretty useful. I assume it makes farming WiFis a lot easier? Is this the correct one?

I've been thinking about getting a Powersaves device for a while now, and with Porybox out now, it seems like a good time to do it. But just to be sure, this is the correct device, right? If so, I'm just going to order it now!

I decided to buy new in March-ish this year. Target still has them, and at the time it was 20% off at 31.99 USD. Considering it's a Pokemon game, I wasn't expecting them to dip below retail ever, so I'm very happy with that.

Amazon is offering new for less than retail as well: http://smile.amazon.com/Pok%C3%A9mon-Alpha-Sapphire-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B00K848IH0

Speaking of the awesome breeder! Also, I couldn't really find anything else about the 2wire router. I would suggest buying a Netgear or Linksys router (hopefully might solve the problem). Never had a problem with Netgear so far.

One of the fastest ways to get boxes full of shinys. Go to /r/SVExchange and purchase a game saver and you can check the Egg Shiny value. Then on the svexchange forum you find a person who's four digit Trainer Shiny Value matches your egg and they will hatch it and give it back to you and it will be shiny.

I'm in NA is there any reason you chose them over Amazon? Something like this?

u/Ho-ohsMeMoney · 1 pointr/pokemontrades

Haha it's definitely worth it! I think most people have this one I'm not 100% sure what the difference is but everyone I asked told me to get that one so I did :p

I'm not UK, but this is mine. It has the save backup for egg checking and the features all the breeders hate.
