Grab a pack of nylon washers. Try adding a second one on either side of the bearing carrier. If you add a second washer and it spins freely and cleans up the slop you're good. If adding a second washer makes it too tight you can try sanding down the nylon washer. Make sure to check it's not too tight by spinning the wheel with your hand. Sounds like you have enough slop a second washer should be fine.

Also I think you're the same person that had asked before but when checking for slop in the wheels make sure you're holding the a-arm, drive shaft, and toe/camber links in your hand. You only want to see the slop in the wheel and not holding those bits will make it seem like there is a lot of play.

Follow the directions and you'll be fine. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver to build it, and that's about it. If your Phillips screwdriver is one of those types with "bits", you'll need a regular one as there is a hole that those other ones won't fit in. Everything else should be included, including grease. You might want some threadlock for the metal to metal fastenings: https://www.amazon.com/DuraTrax-Pit-Tech-Threadlocker-2/dp/B0015H6DVC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492756164&sr=8-2&keywords=hobby+thread+lock

You will need a radio, receiver, servo for steering, and battery and charger. You picked a non-performance model here, so you won't need high-end stuff. You could probably get by with a cheap Futaba servo: https://www.amazon.com/Futaba-FUTM0031-S3003-Standard-Servo/dp/B0015H2V72/ref=sr_1_4?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1492756615&sr=1-4&keywords=Servo

For radio and receiver I'm hoping someone else can help. I have a Spektrum radio and receiver that I like a lot, but there are cheaper ones - I see Flysky(?) thrown about here often.

For a battery, I recommend a 2S lipo pack such as this. A 5000mah pack will give you around 20 minutes of hard run time and maybe more. Pay attention to how the wires exit the pack! Wires that poke out the end won't work. Neither will the kind that exit the top. You want a pack with wires that come out the corner.

Shop around on the charger. Get a lipo balance charger. Maybe someone can recommend a good one for you as I've got a fairly expensive dual charger. Help me out guys!

arrma granite

iMax B6 charger

batteries

Here is a link for an arrma granite monster truck. Great value for performance and reliability. The iMax chargers are great and perform very well at a low cost. I have run these lipos for 20-30 cycles at least with no issues.

I would strongly consider going to your local shop over ordering online. Mostly because you get a better idea of what’s out there and can learn a lot. Also most of the time prices of items in stock match the internet without shipping or wait time. That said I still order stuff online obviously.

Hope this points you in the right direction. Have fun with your boy!

Edit: This comes in at $380 or so.

u/moto6523 · 1 pointr/rccars

Yes, that battery will work but you can probably find less expensive options. Just do a quick search on Amazon for a "6 cell NiMh 7.2v battery". The mAh rating tells you how much energy can be stored (the bigger number the longer the runtime. something between 3000 & 5000mAh will work well & give you good bang for the buck).

Ideally, you'll want EC3 connectors already installed on the battery, unless you want to buy an adapter or do some soldering.

Venom Batteries are nice because they come with adapters & eliminate some guesswork.

This charger will work for you. I had it when I first got into the hobby & it charged up a battery in about 45min. It should give you much faster charge times than the ECX charger found in the box.

Go cheap futaba reciever and goolrc esc with a goolrc motor. Very affordable. Treat it right and it should last awhile. All purchasable on amazon. Don't skimp on reciever and controller sadness will insue. Same thing for servo go 3003 futaba. All affordable stuff even the knock offs are decent. Lowest grade but good stuff for the low price.

My gool rc esc burned up after 6 or so runs. Got a better esc from them with 80amps and was very happy. But I'm pretty sure it burned up because I abuse the shit out of my cars and was running a 3s at very high gearing also was ramping my car onto my roof and it fell a lot. I really like goolrc product for price and quality. This is dollar store electronics. Pay any less and you are in toy range. Literally my goal was to go fast on a budget. Now not with the set up linked but with the companies linked I've gone 65 and the products lived to run again.

I've tried lesser electronics and was nothing but dissapointed. These products I have owned multiple and only lost 1 motor and 1 esc due to abuse.very happy and don't blame them for the loss. Gear this shit right and you are so good. Owned all these products no complaints

Look on Hobbyking. All the things you picked work but are either overpowered, discontinued or really old. (also your radio includes a receiver so you don't need to buy one extra.

Servo I'd suggest (care with warehouse availability)

Makes it all a little more expensive but trust me you'll have more fun this way.

Before you use the Lipo definatly read the instructions tho!

u/theleastfav · 1 pointr/rccars

I have no recommendations for a charger, I'm using an older Racers Edge SC1500, so I'm not sure what the current good chargers are. For batteries Venom is pretty good, they come with universal plugs so you can convert to whatever you have. Deans is the standard plug that most people use, it has solid contacts and resists corrosion fairly well.

Venom 20C 2S 4000mAh 7.4 LiPo Battery for Tamiya Cars https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002QE3AVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZwsSBbRWXWYA7

There are cheaper batteries too.

Fconegy 2S 4000mAh 40C 7.4V Hardcase Lipo Battery Pack with Deans T Plug for RC Car RC Truck RC Boat, RC Hobby https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0791W1TKP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_WxsSBbNMBSZHR

Spektrum brand controllers are good, flysky I've heard has latency issues and cheap components.

Your track may require a LiPo bag to charge in, I recommend getting longer balance plug adapters to go between the battery and charger so you can easily get the battery in the bag.

The blue stuff is most common - you'll find it anywhere, but I find it's too strong for some small screws (like the ones you find in RC cars) , so I've stripped out a few screw heads and started looking for another solution.

The one I ended up getting is the Loctite 222 "low strength", which is purple. I ordered it form Amazon.com and had it delivered to me in Canada (east of Toronto): https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-555339-Purple-Strength-6-milliliter/dp/B0002KKTT0

If you do use the blue, use the smallest amount possible and you should be OK. And only use the stuff on metal to metal - it apparently doesn't like plastic.

For what it's worth, I'm the only guy I've come across in the dozens of people I RC with who uses the purple stuff. That's how rare it is. LOL

Hey man here is the setup I’m running on my Tamiya TT-02 which is a great setup for cars like this. Here is the esc I recommend it’s good for brushed motors or brushless motors and its can use a sensor setup or just the regular 3 wire. https://www.amazon.com/Tamiya-45057-ESC-TBLE-02s-brushless/dp/B00BBQDVO4/ref=asc_df_B00BBQDVO4/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241969730126&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11612280333244796961&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9028541&hvtargid=pla-470020405324&psc=1

I don't think you'll find anything decent in that micro size. Most of the good ones are 1/4" hex drive.

I've tried the Dewalt 12V, the Hitachi 3.6V, and the Makita 12V.

The Makita was my favorite and that's the one I kept. Most people in R/C like the Hitachi the best because the clutch has a slightly lower setting than the other 2. My Hitachi arrived with a defective power switch, so I returned it. I like the more traditional gun style of the Dewalt and the Makita, which also have the variable speed trigger. The Hitachi was just too long and cumbersome.

The Makita has a 2-speed gearbox and a better (lighter) clutch than the Dewalt. That's why I kept the Makita.

I'm gonna copy paste something i wrote from another thread here because I'm lazy. It may not make complete sense, but its relevant ;) .

I was only able to find your replacment ESC on Hobbypartz, but I would just upgrade honestly. Also, I've never used that website before, so use caution (as always with the internet).

As for an upgrade, I don't know enough so I'll leave that to some more experienced users.

u/qazme · 2 pointsr/rccars

The Velineon system comes with a VXL ESC that rated for 2S lipos. It's plug and play with your Slash. Replace the motor - throw your pinion on it and mesh the gears - bolt in the esc - plug everything up and you're off to the races. Your batteries should already have the traxxas high current connectors on them.

Glad I could help you - I really like the Velineon motor, you'll enjoy it they are a blast! Not sure what happened to your other motor - sounds like it may have gotten to hot. So probably wouldn't be a bad idea to pick yourself up a cheap IR heat gun/sensor. I use a Duratrax Flashpoint but if you have a harbor freight around you they have a gun style on for like $15 or cheaper. Make sure you stay under 200 F on the velineon - which on 2S with stock gearing and tires shouldn't be an issue at all.

so basically for the price of 1 name brand i can rock 2 of these

https://www.amazon.com/Floureon-Dean-Style-Connector-Quadcopter-5-51x1-89x0-98/dp/B00N9SU5U0

?

and then a charger such as https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDMYL&P=ML

would work just fine ?

sorry to hit ya with the questions but i just like confirming stuff before i buy

Edit. Some reason it didn't link the right batteries. I did link traxxas versions I thought. Im out now so I'll look them up later. Ty guys.

If it’s made for a car with the same engine and header you should be good to go. You just gotta make sure your engine is running the right temps

With that being said keep an eye on your engine temps make sure you keep the engine temperature at least 190 degrees Fahrenheit and don’t let it get above 230 degrees

Get yourself one of these is you don’t already have one Duratrax DTXP3100 Flashpoint Infrared Temperature Gauge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00144E8A4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uhN4DbC3FF8GG

I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Hobbywing-WP-SC8-Waterproof-Brushless-Controller/dp/B008N5EXKC

I love it. It can also handle a 4s lipo if the motor can handle it. I have used it in my old savage flux 2350, my slash 4x4, and my Wraith. it is a little large though. Another option:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__42478__Turnigy_TrackStar_Waterproof_1_10_Brushless_Power_System_3520KV_80A_USA_warehouse_.html

Yes, it is hobbyking, but it is in the US warehouse so shipping is not as bad. If you want something with a warranty, look at the Castle Mamba ESCs, or any of the brands that have a US presence. A funny thing I noticed was that many companies like Orion(Kyosho), HPI, etc. have rebranded Hobbywing escs. The first esc I posted is actually used in the Kyosho Mad Force VE, and it is branded as a Orion esc. The HPI Bullet also uses a Hobbywing esc.

Here is a set of EPX turnbuckles/rods I found on Amazon. It looks like Redcat uses the same length for all 6 turnbuckles. As others have already mentioned Redcat uses the EPX chassis for a variety of vehicles like this one. If you just search Redcat EPX on Amazon you will find plenty of parts.

As for the part you mentioned "the thing that connects the rod to the differential" is this in the center or one of the dogbones that puts power to the wheel like this one? If you look at the first link with the turnbuckles you will see they are bought together frequently because without a turnbuckle the dog bone can go missing.

u/TrauMedic · 1 pointr/rccars

I basically have the same truck you are looking at. I have a slash ultimate and run gens ace batteries in it. Venom is also good. 3s 5000mAh 50c is about the max battery you can run stock so that's what I went with. Works good just need to watch temps and get a cooling fan.

u/Sudzy1225 · 3 pointsr/rccars

It depends on the physical size of the battery, and connector. If you have a deans connector you need a deans connector, unless your good at soldering and can replace one yourself.

I purchased these, and would recommend them to anyone with a 1:10 size truck.

when I'm at the track doing practice laps, i can run for around an hour to an hour and a half per battery.

u/colt4cm · 2 pointsr/rccars

The EZRUN WP SC8. I have it on mine and I can vouch for it's reliability and waterproofness. It can handle any future motor you use with ease.

u/daryn987 · 1 pointr/rccars

I picked up atamiya rs540 running at 7.4v.

I have the stock spur gear installed.

I’m not certain what pinion gear I should install. The one I bought doesn’t fit, the teeth are to small, I just used 18t thinking it would fit.

u/flyingwolf · 1 pointr/rccars

Wow, Traxxas went full retard on incorporating the plugs.

The guy below there has an adapter for you.

Also note the dedicated charger is only 50 dollars.

u/SomeGnosis · 2 pointsr/rccars

Nice looking!! The only upgrade I made to mine was the sport tuned motor.

I personally am afraid of getting what I pay for when it comes to chargers and batteries so I do t go for the cheapest.

Have you tried thread locker? Locktite 222 purple is a good "won't go anywhere". Blue 243 is "won't go anywhere without force". Red 263 is "the screw will NOT come out without heat or EXTREAM force. Do not use Red on small screws. Blue is what I use regularly, and haven't ever had any problems in the 20 years of use. Each bottle will last you years if you use occasionally(aren't in manufacturing). I've never used a whole bottle before losing it.

Check out their own website if you want, and message if you have any questions. Have a good one.
