There are lots of great resources.

  • Dr. Adrienne Keene is great!
  • Kent Monkman is a genius but might be kind of inaccessible to beginners.
  • DeLesslin is working on food sovereignty & very intelligent
  • James Leask used to write wonderful articles about comics & Indigenous culture
  • Thomas King's Inconvenient Indian is a very humorous & comprehensible read on the broken treaties, residential schools and policies of genocide against the Native Americans.
  • Many reservations have a visitor center or a museum you can donate to, volunteer at or just visit.
  • It'll take some research but the protesters of the Dakota Access Pipeline still need help.
  • There is a huge biography of Russell Means, a member of AIM, that is a starting point.
  • It is unfortunate, but Native women are still targets of bigots and serial killers because their deaths are not investigated. You can support the search for missing women by encouraging your local police & policy makers to take it seriously, or by donating to this group.
  • Kevin Locke often gives educational speeches and concerts

There is so much out there. I'm happy to give you more resources if you want to DM me. I am also white, but was lucky enough to grow up with a lot of Native friends and family. I'm happy to help you out if some words seem hurtful or are confusing.

I also second that Smoke Signals is a great movie. Reel Injun is good too.

And remember, guilt is not bad in this situation. Your pain is a fraction of what contemporary and historic people experienced. Don't try to run away from it. Use it to make you a better person.

Please invest in a better vinyl player. That tonearm doesnt have any weight to it and actually damages your records. If you're serious about vinyl that is...

Might I suggest the Audio-Technica ATLP120USB

Great record by the way! I bought it aswell, love the red!

Far Bright Star by Robert Olmstead is excellent as well. If you're a fan of Cormac McCarthy you'll love it. http://www.amazon.com/Far-Bright-Star-Robert-Olmstead/dp/1565129806

Lonesome Dove is my favorite book ever. I wanted to name my son Augustus, sadly my wife disagreed.

Even though The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is my all time favorite movie, my dad’s favorite Clint Eastwood movie is Outlaw Josie Wales. Huge recommendation for you is a book called The Gunfighters that I saw on here. I bought it for like four bucks used as an impulse buy. It was one of the most interesting books I’ve ever read. It’s about a lot of the most famous gunslingers, with not less than six of them being actual outlaws or deputies in the Tombstone movie.

It looks like Boilerplate, the hero from a comic about a fictional steampunk robot that was supposedly involved in a number of historical adventures.

I had a Pirates of the Caribbean liars dice set that I thought was pretty cool. I agree an RDR themed one would be amazing!

Thank u! It is my go to hat for pretty much anything outdoors. Here is the link to that exact hat:

Please don't try it. Especially if, as you said below, the barrel is filled. I have several Denix replicas, they don't fire blanks at all. If the guy who sold it to you sold it as a blank-firing one, he hosed you. Here's the nickel one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Denix-Schofield-Revolver-Nickel-Finish/dp/B004BDTCDS

Looks like you can get on Amazon for 30 bucks (in the US) or so.

I had my doubts that a book that was almost 120 years old would be in that good of a condition-- and I was right. This looks to be a half scale reprint of the catalogue from the 70s.

Circling back, I think this is the book I had in mind. Was quick in audiobook format, think I got through it in a workout or two at the gym.

The pants are these ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HQOEQ8Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AkoWDbV13BKYT

The boots are these ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002V3W66/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yioWDbTRQ64AX

I got my boots at a local western wear store many years ago, so that is why they look so worn.

You should buy this book and use a few of the pages

The catalogues in the game are designed to look like old Sears Roebuck ones. You'll find pages and pages of shotguns and revolvers for low, low prices.
