If it makes things easier, the Brawler64 by RetroFighters is a modern take on the N64 controller. Imo the plastic molding on the controller feels a little cheap - as well as the joystick, and it’s not going to be the best controller for shooters due to the sensitivity. But it’s still one of the best options out there for the N64. I actually have five of these controllers (one of each funtastic cooored variant they have released)
The Tribute 64 is another great option. It has more of a retro feel, almost like an N64 controller meets the GameCube controller.
I included Amazon links, but if you decide to purchase them then also consider ordering through their official websites or Castlemania games as well to support the small businesses :)
Hyperkin makes a bt nes controller called The Cadet...
I have one and i can honestly say it works like a charm....the controller is comfortable and the buttons are accurate and have a good grip to them..i have not noticed any type of lag.. personally I would recommend ..they are just as good and not as expensive as 8-bito
So I spent quite a while on this for myself last year, and after a bit of searching, my conclusion was that the best experience will be to buy these three things together:
8BitDo's DIY line are fantastic, and as best I can tell are the only way to get an original form factor wireless controller for the NES.
Nintendo also sell modern wireless NES controllers, but they have extra buttons and rails for connecting to the Switch, which I think ruins the look.
8BitDo also sell the n30, but those aren't styled like the NES controller and have extra buttons.
OK, thanks. I see some of the later CRTs were widescreen or "HD". Do you know if this will affect game performance?
EDIT: The Sony KV-34HS420 for example. Will the widescreen aspect ratio will distort games or does the high-resolution support result in inferior low-resolution performance or incompatibility?
... I'm probably obsessing over this a little bit too much.

True, though playing N64 Quake II using this would probably be a pain in the ass considering that the D-Pad moves and the joystick turns.
