I ended up going with the UtechSmart Venus. It was a really tough choice between the two, but this one seemed to be more ergonomic while offering similar features

As for audiosurf, on AS2, my computer only hits 45-50 fps (old laptop). I was trying to find mods to make the game easier to run, as I'd like to be able to play ninja turbo (or your mod). Do you know if that's available? Otherwise, is there any way to make AS1's mono faster than elite ironmode [as-steep]?

Buy him the stuff so he can build a nice home play pad.

This is a good no latency controller board that can be the brain of his ddr/piu pad.

I bought one with the game for my US Switch and both work fine. The controller is considered a generic wired controller by the Switch, so it will technically work on any game and Switch console. In Taiko Switch, when you choose a mode, it asks what controller you are using so the controller will work correctly. As long as the drum option is in the US version, it should still work fine.

I bought mine from amazon.jp. Assuming it still ships internationally, this should be a good way to get it: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B07D1H7CW3

I bought a passcase (primarily used to hold your RFID cards for public transit in Japan) that allowed me to insert 2 cards (front and back) and it has an RFID separator in between. I have a pump it up card on one side and a banapass on the other side which works out pretty well. If you're thinking of buying a regular passcase without an RFID divider, I've seen products like this but I didn't see great reviews for them so I decided on getting a slightly more expensive pass case that had it built in.

I specifically bought this one which also has a center pocket which I store my other cards that I don't use as much + round 1 card

If you haven't gotten it yet, here's a cable and the 2014 version for $30.
