  • If you have some more money to spend, I highly recommend the Stephen Mitchell version. This is not a strict translation, but the dead tree version has detailed notes about what he omitted and re-arranged. The audiobook is available from Audible, or on audio CD.
  • I recently discovered a hip-hop version of The Canterbury Tales, performed by Baba Brinkman. He begins with a 12-minute rap version of Gilgamesh, followed by a few interpretations of the original Canterbury Tales, and finishes with Beowulf. You can listen to The Canterbury Tales Remixed on Spotify. Warning: this is pretty explicit in spots.
  • Speaking of Beowulf, the Seamus Heaney translation is awesome. You can get an abridged version from Audible or on audio CD.
