I really like Joann's, especially since they have coupons. For some odd reason my Michael's has just about the same stuff, but I like my Joann's store better. I also have a local Scrapbook Shop, but it's mostly stickers, and stamps. They do have a lot of great local sports papers (I live in the Detroit Metro area, so they have Red Wings papers and embellishments, Tiger's paper, etc.) But it's way overpriced for paper, so I usually only go in there if I'm looking for something specific I won't be able to find at Jo's.
Also, I love Amazon. I am currently scrapping my wedding shower, wedding, and honeymoon. Instead of doing three seperate albums however, I decided to look into the scrapbook binders. And if I buy that with the page protectors I need, I'll get free shipping, because it'll be over $35. They also have some paper stacks that are out of print or really hard to find. And with Amazon, you can usually choose two day shipping. (It does cost more, but at least you have the option!)

Go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby and get an album (3 ring types are my preference but the post-bound kind are more common.)

For paper, Michaels sells pads of themed paper, often for cheap. Any kind of card stock will work. You can also look for loose sheets at HL, Michaels, or even Walmart or JoAnns.

Something she’ll likely need is a good pair of scissors (ie Fiskars) and a paper slicer.

Lots of craft shops sell cutesy stickers and embellishments. I find the alphabet stickers to be pretty useful for putting titles on certain pages.

The only other thing she will absolutely need is a way to attach photos to the paper. There are several ways to do this. Whatever you choose, just make sure it’s photo-safe so you don’t wind up damaging your prints. This is what I use.

Good luck!

Fiskars for sure! I have the smaller version of this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0019IDJXW
Love it, have used it for almost ten years and the blade is juuuust starting to fade. I would recommend a 12x12 cutter. Given that mine is smaller I use two, one for bigger pieces and the precise fiskar for any small papers and all photos. Good luck!

They make scrapbooking products for recipes. I'm thinking of something like this http://www.amazon.com/C-R-Gibson-Kitchen-Cookbook-Scrapbook/dp/B009PI3532

You'll want room for whatever you are writing the recipes on and room for a picture (and do include a picture!). Take a look at some of the recipes you have-will they fit on a single card or will some need space for both sizes?

I've seen these done a couple ways, one like the link I posted, one in a smaller album (8x8 US size) where the entire page was the recipe and small Instagram sized pictures were added to the top or bottom. I prefer the one like the Amazon link, but I also am more visual.

The items you'd link to would also work, just also give some thought as to how you'd use the book-if you would actually use it in the kitchen, you'll want recipes to be in a large enough font/writing to be easy to read and that the entire recipe could be seen without taking the card out.

Hope that helps-post back if you have other questions.

When I make something and want the stuff in the scrapbook to be unharmed and removable I either use something like this or this. I really like the glue dots, but be careful because there are permanent ones. As for saving money, my best advice is when you go to Joann or Michael's never go without a coupon. They ALWAYS have coupons, usually 50% off a single item. They also frequently have scrapbook paper sales. Try buying expensive stuff one at a time so you can get 50% off everything. Also Joann usually lets you stack coupons.

Ideally, something like this is fantastic. It has a rotary blade which cuts more like scissors than slicing the paper. It's smoother and straighter, and you can buy other blades to use with the same system that can cut different edges, like a wave.

A cheaper version is something like this. I own this tool, but plan to upgrade to a rotary style soon. This tool may not always cut exactly straight, but I personally think it is better than the chopping style.

Also, with sliding/rotary type tools, you're less likely to lose any bits of your fingers than you would be with a chopping style cutter.

I like the idea of a jigsaw puzzle table, too. Or, you could always get some rolling storage trays so at least she could group her papers and embellishments together. Hope that helps!

This is great!!! Sometimes layouts really show their age, but this is pretty timeless still! This scissor set on Amazon has a Stamp edge scissor if your feeling Fiskars-y

Honestly, I've gotten so fed up with cutters that I just use an x-acto knife on a cutting mat with the ruler. Since it's clear, I can get it lined up exactly how I want it.
