TLDR: Have decided to build a photo/video editing PC in a Cougar QBX case - i think I've got half the parts decided, but they need a sanity check and some recommendations to fill gaps. Aiming for max £1200 / $1500.

Following my last starting post, it became clear that my idea of mounting a somewhat high performance machine behind my monitor wasn't really going to work. Similarly the smallest cases that could practicably work e.g.: Node 202, were going to be a pretty tight fit and need some pretty active temperature management and construction handiwork which is a it beyond me. I think the QBX probably just about qualifies as SFF though, so would be really grateful for any further advice :)

Having spend most of the last day reading about all number of cases, I think the QBX Cougar case is my best bet. Attracted by the NCase M2, but the price was a bit steep for me and I can't afford to wait for order fulfillment.

I considered AMD vs Intel. I think I'll be mainly doing things that don't benefit from multi-cores, so have decided to go for intel.

I have the following parts picked out already, grateful for any suggestions for those, there are also some gaps. Really grateful for build suggestions on the following:

Motherboard: The one selected is one that was put forward in another thread. I'm not really clear what makes that particular motherboard a good or bad choice. It is described as 'gaming' but gaming won't be a primary feature of the machine - but if it means decent sound and graphics card support great.

CPU cooler: Not sure what will fit given the case being small-ish, have noted down Pallas 140mm Low Profile CPU Cooler and Noctua NH-D15 in my research but what would you recommend?

RAM: I want 16GB, but how much does the brand (or speed?) matter?

GPU: I think I want a Geforce 1060 with 6GB memory, but which variant. This seems quite important for the machine, some of the other threads on Reddit talk about having a 'blower' model in the QBX case - likewise heard they can be noisy. Thoughts appreciated, but if the case can include any alternative cooling I might consider it. Don't care about asthetics, do care about noise/heat.
Storage: Will the SSD selected happily work with the motherboard slot?

Power supply: Again, going off another recommendation in a QBX thread in that the SFX PSU with adaptor fits well and gives more space inside. Happy for other suggestions though.

Monitor: Lots of photographers have recommended the Dell monitor listed. Again, will consider others but would like something that is a well supported recommendation for my price point.

Keyboard/Mouse: Want wireless variants, but don't need anything super special.

Very good to know about the fan controller. I suspected it wouldn't be able to power the fans. That seemed a little too easy. However, I will likely go for a 1 > 4 splitter so there is no wires that are unconnected. That would bother me.

Also thanks for the heads up on Corsair PSU > Silverstone. I was actually already planning on that, but for some reason, Corsair SF6000 isn't showing up in PCPP right now, and I wanted a placeholder so I knew where I was at financially. So I will be getting the Corsair SF600 + ATX -> SFX adaptor.

In regards to the front panel/header, I was going off comments like this that I had read:

"Nice but USB headers 3.0 and 3.1 not a good combination with Fractal Nano S (3.0) and Corsair H80i v2(USB 2.0). Z170i is better if you are going with these two items."

"But you can't use the front USB right now because new 3.1 to 3.0 adapter is not yet available AFAIK."

So yeah it didn't make sense to me, but since I heard a few people mention something about it I just figured there was something I was missing.

Thanks for the heads up on the RGB header. So that is a header that is in place specifically 100% for people who want to add aftermarket RGB lighting, and they would plug it in to that header?

I will not be getting an NVME SSD, as of right now I am getting the 850 evo 500g. Shortly after I build my computer and get another paycheck I will likely go back and get the Crucial MX300 1TB M2, so lessen the wires and get a good bit more storage.

And noted on the amount of accessories. I am not really bound by specific budget. I could upgrade to the 1080ti and still keep everything else if I thought there were a legitimate reason to spend another 200$ on a GPU. I am getting a 27'' 1440p 144hz G Sync monitor, and from what I can tell the 1080 should handle that at high settings pretty easily If it can do that then I really don't need to dish out the extra money for a 1080ti imo.

Plus part about building a PC (for me at least) is the aesthetics. Having parts that you love, and love to look at. I will have an open window case, so I wanted to use parts that I liked and made the computer look good - without compromising on space. So after looking at every Define Nano S build on PCPP I decided the one I linked above best represents what I'm trying to do on a computer (both aesthetically speaking and performance wise).

I always recommend the inwin chopin or its uglier/cheaper sister the BQ656T. Yours looks different from mine lol but I'm confident they all share the same internal shape and stuff. The Chopin is mostly OOS thats why prices are driven up. But when its in stock you can find it for ~100USD

I have a 2400g, asrock fatality itx mobo, and m.2 ssd. The 150w psu is plenty as your OC will be thermally limited. As for cooler options, in this case the stock cooler will fit but if you do want to OC, upgrade to the noctua l9a or c7 cu. I have also seen people remove the fan from the stock cooler and gerry rig an 120mm fan on the original heat sink with good results. I personally have the l9a and i strapped a 120mm thin fan to it for better results.

At this size you will not beable to fit any 3.5" drives. As for the build, its o k. You should break down the case so you can re reroute the psu cables thru the front and behind the mobo, and with some patience you can get it looking nice.

I personally love my chopin and its really smol. Some people have said the tiny psu fan gets loud, but personally I've never had a problem. I'm also really impressed with the 2400g and its performance. Pretty easy to OC/undervolt. AMA

Just to add to the trouble of choosing, I'd throw the Cougar QBX (19.9 L) or the Sharkoon QB One (14.9 L) into the mix. Both are great cases that'll fit your parts perfectly.

• CPU: Comes with a better cooler than the 2600 and it'll better boost clocks. Same price as the 8400 and a decent cooler, and much better value in my opinion.
  
  
• RAM: Upped it to 16 GB and slightly faster RAM. It was within your budget and it's nice to have a bit of a buffer before maxing out your RAM. Also Ryzen benefits from dual channel RAM.
  
  
• Case: I left the case open, as it's very much a personal thing. I'd personally get the Sharkoon QB One for around £50, but the Cougar QBX and Sugo SG13 are also great options.
  
  
• PSU: Switched to a very decent SFX PSU. It'll allow you to switch to an even smaller case if you feel like it in the future. You might need a SFX to ATX bracket, but those are fairly cheap to come by.
  
  I hope this helps, or at least serves as inspiration :)

If you're doing anything that taxes the CPU, that L9i will get pretty loud. I used it for a few days on an 8086k with the Boost disabled (4Ghz max)/undervolted and it handled it OK, but loud. I think my temps were in the mid 70s or so, but the fan was full blast. You could also try a fan shroud which has proven helpful for people in lowering temps. If you don't have access to a 3d printer, Jim will print one for you based on your case/ram/heastink/etc.

I tried the LP53 and that did a much better job with the noise/temp ratio. Similar temps, but I was able to tone down the fan quite a bit. Honestly, I probably would have been happy with that if I didn't already have an Asetek 545lc to try. I'm using that now and I like it a lot more.

I have to echo what everyone else is saying, I would drop down to the 8400 if you don't want to delid and I think you'll be fine with the L9i. If you want to save some money there, I'll sell you my L9i. I currently have the higher rpm fan on my Asetek 545 and the retail one with l9i, but I'm not sure I need the higher rpm so I could switch them out. May even sell the 53, but I did just get in my adapter/fan shroud in so I may test that out first.

   Video card is case vent
   

   
   The A4-SFX does not need the graphics card to have a blower. The blower-style cards never have fan stop and move less air in total compared to the dual or triple-axial coolers.
   
   The video card is the main venting force of the Dancase. A reference blower does not help or hurt the case, while a 130mm fan on a Aouras Gigabyte card will help the whole case. The huge differances seen by diffrent users of the A4-SFX are a result of the video card loading and fan speed changing the case tempature (IMHO).
   
   

   Plan your airflow with tape
   

   
   I own both the A4-SFX and the M1. The A4-SFX needs what I call the tape mod. This involves covering the side panel with clear packing tape on the inside wherever it is not above a component fan. I also cover the bottom vents and the front half of the top panel. This will cause the power supply to have a reverse flow when it's fan is off, and all exhaust will be via the rear top panel, PCI bracket area, and possibly the IO shield area.
   
   Highly-efficient power supplies generate less then 70 Watts of heat. Power supply components can often tolerate extended periods at/over 100C. Don't worry about power supply heat in SFX as you can't keep extreme part cool.
   
   

   Dancase and CPU coolers
   

   
   The Dancase A4-SFX holds 58 mm of top-down cooler. This is just the Intel Stock cooler height. Daniel expected 55-95 Watt non-overclocked CPUs, when he made the A4-SFX he had a 65 Watt.
   
   If you want to use 95-Watt and 105-Watt processors in the Dancase A4-SFX, you will need to tolerate noise, throttling on synthetic loads, and/or be careful about your components.
   
   Most of the coolers are of simmilar construction and effectiveness, if used with the same fan. This is because they are of similar size and fin area. I have been lucky enough to have a V1 and V2 with several of the popular coolers. This includes the C7, L9i, LP53, and a Cooljag/Nexus 7000-low. All of them have been used with the Noctua 92x14 fan as 120 mm fans do not fit with normal RAM.
   
   The height of the RAM also will make a difference in airflow, with the short height allowing more. Dan suggests VLP modules to improve airflow and these are just a bit taller then the DIMM locking points. Some coolers can accommodate 15mm-thick 120 mm fans with VLP RAM.
   
   

   Ncase M1, for your consideration
   

   
   For the highest-power parts at the lowest noise, you should consider the Ncase M1. It holds 3-slot graphics cards, as long as they are not too tall. The Ncase lets you run 120 and 140 MM top-down CPU coolers or 92 mm towers. It has dust filters that the A4-SFX lacks.

It's impressive for sure, I definitely won't deny that, nicely done! I also saw mention that you've had that hardware since 2013 so I wouldn't dare fault you for that setup but for anyone else that is interested in pursuing a similar setup in under 3 liters, it is worth mentioning that the new AMD 3400G APU would likely provide similar performance (it's ever so slightly faster than the 2400G), with less demands on power.

It's pretty impressive how well these APUs can perform. It's just too bad the 3400G isn't on 7nm. Maybe the next-gen APU will see an greater bump in performance too.

I have no opinion on the EVGA Hybrid, but I do have an EVGA 1070 SC with the Accelero Xtreme III and Noctua NF-F12 fans (which should perform similarly to Corsair's ML120's.)

I'm very happy with my setup. It runs at 31°C at idle, and around 53-54°C at load, with a max of 60°C. I set a custom fan curve with EVGA PrecisionX so that the fans run at 10% (350RPM) at idle and 15-25% (560-860RPM) at load. The card's default curve turns the fans off at idle, but my GPU isn't getting much fresh air from the side panel fan, so the GPU temp would slowly creep up over time. At 10% fan speed, the idle temp stays stable and cool, and the noise difference is imperceptible.

And for your second question...yeah, I think you could do it. I would recommend reading the instructions completely a few times before starting, just so you understand the whole process because it can seem daunting at first. Also, buy a roll of double-sided thermal tape! It will make installing the small heatsinks way easier. Arctic wants you to use epoxy to attach them, but that gives you limited time to install the heatsinks and you have to leave it overnight to cure. The tape is better because it has neither of those issues, and it's non-permanent, in case you ever need to RMA the card.

Built an SG13/2700X/2080 back in March and I absolutely love it. Here are a few suggestions from my experience:

• If you don't mind only using one fan, you can fit the thicker H80iv2 for better cooling.
  
• I purchased a Noctua NF-A9x14 and set it up as a secondary exhaust as seen here (not my picture).
  
• SFX PSU with a vented ATX to SFX bracket made building easier while improving airflow.

The only one smaller is the aquacomputer quadro, but it's pretty expensive and uses molex, that being said you can download their software to finfigure any fan to any RPM you want. It's more of a fan controller than a fan hub. it's also about 3x the price.

If you plan to go dual aio at some point, I'd recommend the Quadro, because you can easily control RPM of each individual fan (or even use a splitter for 2 fans on one header so they run at the same RPM)

Few things to consider:

2.50" x 4.92" or Approx 63.5 mm x 125 mm is the footprint of a SFX PSU
3.39" x 5.91" or Approx 86.1 mm x 150 mm is the footprint of a ATX PSU

I had already been planning this for some of my builds to give room for a standard dual slot card to breathe since the nano has a very limited space between the PSU and GPU. I would actually recommend this to anyone using a non FE card with this case as it will allow your card a better chance to cool properly.

TLDR: YES

There are currently two thin itx AM4 boards, one Lenovo and one Chinesium board on TaoBao. I believe RAM speed is limited on each though, hindering your APU performance. Best bet for an APU is a mini itx x470 board with a little overclocking. My suggestion would be to look at customer photos on this amazon link for a visual example. Guy built a little gaming rig on a MITX board using a 2400g.

With regard to the Hades Canyon NUC, they're great little boxes. This can be extra attractive if you plan to hackintosh because the support is actually pretty good. The only caveat is they are not upgradeable. There has also been success using these with eGPU setups if that's your thing.

1. Before Accelero III: stock clocks on blower style cooler getting 80°+ within minutes of playing games. I could adjust fan speed to lower temps, but fan sounded like jet engine. I refused to run my GPU at these temps, so I ordered the Accelero III. After Accelero III: GPU on stock clocks never exceeds 63° and OC'd the temps never exceed 67° The fans typically run around 30% while gaming and are much quieter than the blower cooler.
   
2. While my Accelero was in route, I watched some install videos and read up on it. When I received it, I took my time installing and it went quite well. I used thermal adhesive tape instead of the included thermal epoxy. It seems to be holding really well; I cleaned the surfaces using coffee filters and 91% isopropyl alcohol to ensure a clean surface for optimum adhesion. Just search youtube for install vids (Optimum Tech video here) and Artic Install Manual
   
3. I used this fan adapter for my card. I needed this because my GPU only has 1 fan header and I didn't want to add another cable in the form of a splitter. The less cables you have to deal with in this case, the better. I used this thermal tape; I just used scissors to cut to size. I recommend some tweezers because the backing can be difficult to remove to expose the adhesive. I'm using two NF12 fans in exhaust configuration; they are connected directly to the GPU via previously mentioned adapter so the GPU controls the fans. I would recommend you have several different size phillips screwdrivers available; I used an ifixit screwdriver kit.

Yeah they do make an adapter, but why fiddle with it when you can get a native cooler? Also, these fans will fit under the PSU and motherboard.

I’d also look at your RAM too. The performance boost of 3200 vs 3000 isn’t really worth it with a Ryzen 5. You might be better served using lower latency 3000 RAM, but that’s for you to decide. You could save a few dollars by going with 3000 (same latency) over the 3200 you picked.

What’s your use case? Are you gaming, streaming, etc.? What resolutions, framerates, etc. are you looking for?

6. Sliger gives an option for:- internal 20pin- USB A and USB C- internal 20pin to USB A and internal type L to USB CGo for the former with an AMD mobo cos they dont have the internal type L socket for the individual type C port like on Intel mobos. Mine got shiped with the latter so I cant use my front type c port :( Need the new silverstone CP14 connected for the USB C port on the front panel or the new front panel IO for it to be useful

You might get slightly better results from the Slim Noctua.

The Scythe is about the best cooler you'll fit in your Raven. Beyond that would require an AIO, which would probably not work in your case without mods. Here's my Node 202 modded to fit an H55.

I think you'll find that you may have better luck delidding your cpu and playing with your fan curves than with changing fans. The 7700K is a toaster to begin with...

Z270 chipset does support overclocking, while B250 and H270 chipsets don't

I have the AsRock Z270i Fatal1ty and I undervolt my (delidded) 7700k so I don't produce as much heat, as I don't have the mesh front variant of the case. I liked the Z270i Fatal1ty and Z270i Strix for the Z270 motherboars. If you're not getting a K processor I would go with the H270i Strix over the other options due to the features on it compared to other H270i and B250i boards. If your gaming I would get 3200MHz ram, as it does help in memory dependent games.

The SFX psu gives you more room to work in, and the adapter only cost around $10. I would say go for the extra 20 euro for the 600W psu, as PCPartpicker doesn't account for overclocking and I would rather get a slight overkill then a psu that isn't enough. With the adapter, I was able to fit the C1 from Cyrorig (however its a bit tight, and would install all the modules and cables before). You're using an AIO, air cooler doesn't apply.

I use this fan, however I believe there probably is a better one, whichI'll let a fan expert give a proper recommendation. Since you're using an AIO, I would recommend a good Static pressure fan (separate) and using the variant of the case that has the mesh.

For my ncase, I use a h75 on my 6600k and a h55 with a kraken g10 on my gtx 1080. It's all pretty dang quiet, not loud enough for me to comment on. I tied the h75 for my cpu to its own fan curve and the rest of the fans are on a Silverstone pwm splitter.

So my 2 case fans, 120mm h55 fan and the fan for the kraken g10 are on the same curve. When my gpu throttles up, the case fans do too. It's perfect like it is and I'm not gonna touch it.

Fans:

1 120 noctua in the bottom front slot pulling air into the kraken fan for gpu.

1 92mm slim noctua for rear of case.

2 noctua 120s for each aio cooler.

You can use a good air cooler but in my case my cpu never really gets warm enough to throttle high enough to make much noise. I like the look of the dual fans on each aio rad when you pop the side off :)

I don't know what your application is for this build...but if you want to save money or deflect for another time, etc. I'd recommend just a single stick of 8GB ram (for now) - upgrading to the 16GB later. So this should drop it by ~$90.

Then I would recommend a SF450 or SF600 for your PSU - as this will open the door for future SFF builds as well. In addition to it, pick up the ATX to SFX adapter. What this will ALSO do is give you more room for your cooler to breath - if not get a bigger cooler that has better cooling capacity.

This is my very first SFFPC build. I am coming a Fractal Design Nano S. This Velka 3 is Tiny! I did some small amount of basic modding to make it look like I wanted it. I replaced the 16mm Anti-Vandal switch that came with it for one that has an led for power. I wrapped the psu cables in an automotive cloth wiring harness tape so you couldn't see the bright psu cables from the original. I taped over the Velkase Fans to hide the colors of the stickers and cables as well. I also used the small quadcopter antennas.

Replacement Power Switch

• For the Replacement LED I chose this one from Amazon in White color. I snagged this to create the harness. Using Shrink tube and Cable Sleeving and some solder to attach it to the switch.

• I chose this cooler just to try. This was way before the Black Noctua NH-L9 Released. I replaced the fan with a Velkase fan because its all black and has the same dimensions and also has a higher RPM. So far the temps have been good. My CPU isn't stressed while gaming (1080p 60hz). I think I turned on game mode in the bios and the CPU is at 3.4Ghz on all cores. The cooler is rated for 65W TDP.

• So just a small side note the case came with plenty of M3 Screws BUT I noticed that some are different styles. There are two types. Ones that are longer, and have a smaller phillips socket. And ones that are shorter and a larger phillips socket. The shorter ones actually are shallower and they don't protrude on the sides of the case as much. I used these for the exterior panels. The longer ones I used for mounting all the internals as they had more "bite" to hold everything together
  
• It also came with a prototype of the pico psu blanking plate for the PSU. Response from Michael on this exactly "the PSU cover is just an experimental part with limited use, so it is not mentioned anywhere. If the direct plug in HDPLEX 200 (not yet tested) physically fits into the case, then the PSU cover can be used with it. A PicoPSU from MiniBox can be used as well, but only if you correctly drill two small holes around the smaller circular opening in the plate."
  
• One thing I want to point out is with my particular case it had a blemish on the side panel. Not sure why but its noticeable when looked at closely. There's one on both sides in the same spot but this on is the most noticeable and more noticeable in person

They claim it is made of 'aircraft grade aluminum' earlier, I'd imagine it's Aluminum-magnesium Alloy, not true magnesium alloy (IE 50+% mg instead of 50+% Al). They specifically call out 6061, which is the same material the iPhone 6 frame wase made of. Which is funny, because that's not typically aircraft grade, the 7XXX series is, 6xxx series is more cars/boats.

I'm sure the case would be fine - but don't forget to factor in shipping. I'm not sure I would go with a Ghost over it - but I probably trust TaoBao agents more than I do Loque at this point having dealt with the former and only watched people generally struggle with the later. But the Ghost is currently on Amazon for not much more - so it may very well be the better option.


Some other comments:
Reviews of it observe it has similar issues with paint mis-matchin as the ghost did.
There are a few reviews comparing it directly to the S1 - stating the S1 is superior quality (in part due to the steel frame)

The one you provided are for ATX power supply (though it can work for SFX series since it is type4 connector) and is too long for Ncase. Custom sleeves are basically two objective:

1. Personalized or better look (color can be monotonous or different color every wire)

As for 2600 vs 2700 it is all about those 2 extra cores, since stock cooler works fine for stock clocks and for OC you would probably want something bigger and quieter. So if you do a lot of tasks that will benefit multithreading maybe 60 extra pounds for those 2 cores will be a good investment but 2600 is such a good value atm.

Obviously some trade offs, but the major benefit is dealing with amazon and being significantly cheaper.

Looking at exactly the same combo with the ncase m1 - ordered the 2080 Ti, waiting for the 9900k + a mini-itx board now, but looking at going the aircooling route, most likely a noctua U9S with NF-A9s. Not planning to overclock as mostly going to be used for gaming. Hoping to get an opinion on whether an Accelero will help further lower temps, or better to stick with stock?

Do you have a single or two fan GPU? My single fan GTX 1060 never gets above 70°C. I have this fan on the bottom with a dust filter, for intake to cool the GPU. And I'm using the NH-D9L for the CPU, with a NF-A9 fan on the back of the case directly behind the CPU cooler, pushing air out the back.

I'm using a Big Shuriken 3 cooling a 3600x in a Steck and it works really well, max gaming load is 70C. You don't need the SM560 with the 5700 XT unless you want to mount an aftermarket cooler on the 5700 you can use the SM550. I would probably use the 92mm AIO, people have used those with the Sliger cases with good results. You could also use the ID Cooling IS-60 which is 55mm high, just make sure and get the one with the fan clips not the screws.

I ended up buying these tiny antennas from Amazon. Performance has been the same as the stock antenna so far, but my PC is in the same room as my router so signal strength isn't really a problem for me. Aesthetically, they are perfect in that they are so tiny as to be basically hidden amongst the cables plugged in the back.

Get the offset Silverstone ATX to SFX bracket. It'll help you gain a bit more room.

There are others but often times put the PSU in the center of the bracket, taking away valuable space.

Yep, 5 fans are what you need. I'm not familiar with the thermal pads but make sure they are sticky. Most thermal pads are tacky and won't hold the accelero heatsinks. Biggest thing I would suggest is a SFF PSU so that you don't choke the video card. Otherwise your PSU will hug really close to the GPU fans. Get the silverstone SFX to ATX mounting plate for some extra ventilation.

I would just pick up some tape with prime shipping or something. It raises the heat sinks up a little off the PCB and keeps them naturally flatter than adhesive might so you gain a little safety there. The accelero also includes some little masking strips to protect PCB components from shorting (which I did not use because I missed them) so you might make use of those.

Yes. Pretty close to the same placement. About the same height and maybe like a half inch to the right. Also includes lower support shelf and airflow. Literally $11. Not really worth the effort to design and 3d print one.

I have to say that I'm really impressed with the quality of the Ghost overall. The build experience was good (if not a little tricky) and I highly recommend custom cables if you can get them. I chose these from Corsair for my SF450 and they are amazing:

From what I've read/saw, it seems pretty straightforward. However, people recommend using [double sided thermal tape] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MSL64XG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3JMKZ8DR0NSCW&psc=1) instead of the glue they provide so you can take off the cooler in the future.

32G of RAM is overkill. If you get serious about photo/video editing you're going to want an IPS monitor anyway. The QBX comes with one fan (92mm or 80mm, can't recall). You probably only need one more fan on the top, or maybe the front.

The SF600 is going to need an ATX to SFX bracket with the QBX. If you have a Fry's or Microcenter nearby, you can probably pick it up for $6.

I've flown several times with my Ncase build in this bag without ever filling the case with foam and its been fine. The Pelican stuff looks like it would provide a lot more support/isolation so if it was ok in my bag I don't foresee you having an issue. I have a 1070 FE and a Cryorig m9a cooler.

The A12 will surpass the F12 in almost all applications. So, unless you're trying to push air through a bed sheet, get the A12 instead.

As for the bottom slot, get the low-profile NF-A12x15. You will also need a 120mm fan grill to prevent PSU cables from rubbing on that fan.

None of them will fit in the Chopin. Even the smallest one, the Wraith Stealth, is too tall. I know the Noctua NH-L9a fits and works well in Chopin builds. They just released an all black version too. If you're concerned about CPU cooler comparability, go to PCPartPicker.com and put in all the parts your thinking of using, then add a cpu cooler and it will show you compatible coolers. It'll tell you if there's a ooler height clearance issue.

I just used the ID-Cooling IS-60 with a Noctua NF-A12x15 PWM which has a 55mm height but beware the RAM clearance (it uses a 120mm fan btw)

I purchased one because I do 4-5 LAN parties a year and it held my QB One and everything else I game with besides my monitor.

I'm using the Morex 557 with the Noctua NHL9A cooler on my 2200G APU build. It's a little toasty but it's not so bad, about 70 degrees on load and mid 50s on idle. It has options for four 40mm fans on one side as well. I should probably mention that I'm on stock settings and have undervolted the CPU.

I used the the Optimumtech video for his placement of the heatsinks, though I used double-sided thermal tape instead of the glue that comes with it. So I could put the original heatsink back on if I want to reuse or sell the gpu.

I want to do this exact build, minus the case(I want to use a Morex 557 and a Pico PSU for the smallest off-the-shelf solution) but I've heard suspect things about this motherboard... I really like it though.

If you get the clicking noise from your SF600 Gold, you can either switch out to an SF600 Platinum or add the NF-A9x14 found in the L9i or L9a. Do not use the separately sold NF-A9x14 as it will not start at the right voltage. If you still use the stock ribbon cables from the SF600 Gold, you can either buy the SF series cable kit, get/make custom cables or buy the SF600 Platinum.

As it currently stands, these are the only two reasons to make the upgrade from the SF600 Gold to its Platinum equivalent until JonnyGuru publishes a review.

Just got some liquid metal today! ...also 4x 40mm and 2x 60mm Noctuas (I have a problem with buying crap on amazon.) Going to see if I can fit the 60's in there along the top grill - I hate opening this thing up so I haven't bothered to actually measure it. I got this controller to run the fans. Pretty sure I'l either fry the mobo or my computer is going to fly away.

I'll make a separate post after I cram the fans in there, but I'm also going to try to actually install the backplate on my cooler so it might not be a great control test.

I seriously just took the fan off my evga 1060 and slapped a noctua 92mm fan on the side. Temps improved immensely and now its dead quiet. It even plugged in directly to the gpu. No warranty is voided if you remove the cover properly and put it back on if you need to send it back in.
