After having frequent migraine headaches for a while, I bought a couple of freezer-pack headbands.
One epiphany later, I found they also work great for staying cool in VR (not appearance-wise), but it's a bit more complicated to put the headset on-top of the headband.
Also, I find the added forehead support helps to take weight off of my dainty face.
-
Here's a link to one I bought.
-
The stitching is coming apart after almost two years (not bad), but there are a few others for sale.
I use this mat and find it excellent.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HET4WEK/
It's only a little under the price you mentioned but hey.
It's not super thick -- for instance it's thinner than the mat I have at my kitchen sink, but it's much more supportive and stable, while still providing some give for my feet (I play without shoes on). It's not memory foam or whatnot where your feet sink in or the surface deforms.
Get something like https://www.amazon.com/MIDWEC-Packs-Management-Oculus-Headset/dp/B06XY5WKXW
after turning around in circles a few dozen times, you'll notice your cable, but up till then, it's great.
No, the Fallout branded one is the S2. Looks like you can just insert it into a backpack pretty easily though. Something like this.
I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6EB8DM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The original version has the problem you mention. Now they include a square of "sticky" designed to go between the clear plastic hooks and the wall/ceiling. Using that makes everything stay perfectly. Just remove the backing on one side, stick it where you want it, remove the other sides backing and the backing on the hook... press and done.
I just recently bought a liquid cooler for this very reason. I was super intimidated by "liquid cooling." But the kit I bought made it so damn simple. For $60 I brought my cpu from 90c almost constantly down to 43c, and max under load I've seen was 47c. By far one of the best investments I've made. It allowed me to get a constant 5ghz on the 8700k.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A0HZMGA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's difficult to say right, because the thing about skyrim and modding is that everything can be tuned to personal taste.
So what I would say, is that I would personally really would look into "Natural Locomotion" on Steam and the VR QuickBelt tool https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/16467.
They are tricky to setup but definetely worth it once you get it just right. Natural locomotion worked really well once I got it to be done by using the trackpad instead of the grip buttons.
Also, not technically a game mod, but if you can setup the following correctly, then it adds A LOT to immersion as you don't worry anymore about that pesky cable on the floor and you can rotate physically:
https://www.amazon.com/Retractable-Management-Headset-MDW-Adhesive/dp/B01M6EB8DM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1523778848&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=vive+ceiling+hook
I'm also planning on setting up voice attack to press Z on shouting a phrase, like if I shout "Fuck" it'll shout one word by holding z for half a second, "Fuck you" would shout two words and "Fuck off" would shout all three.
So got off on a tangent, but I suppose you could say those are technically "modifications."
As for other mods, I would highly suggest, as tedious as it sounds, to search on nexus for mods by category, then sorting by endorsement, and really looking as to what they add and whether or not that entices you, and then grab it!
Personally:

Odds are too, that because there's so many mods loaded, something bound to break at some point. But until then, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I tried weighted gloves, but I much prefer the wrist weights.
The gloves have little loops that go around each of your fingers, and the weight pulls against them, which makes gripping the controller and using the buttons uncomfortable. I found it unusable. The wrist weights leave your fingers totally free.
I think either way swinging your arm with weight attached has injury potential. Like I said, I'm going to try the 1.5 lb wrist weights instead of the 2.5lb. I think they'll be perfect.
For the gloves:
I tried the 2 lb each version of the ones below. What set do you use?
The lighter version might be better, but I hate how they pull on your fingers.
https://www.amazon.com/Empower-Weighted-Gloves-Piloxing-Kickboxing/dp/B07JFRPZD5/ref=pd_bxgy_200_img_2/136-1456344-0762369?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B06XY7WCNL&pd_rd_r=1023dfa5-f473-41d8-9204-72c51fc14bb1&pd_rd_w=GvYe5&pd_rd_wg=7Aulq&pf_rd_p=a2006322-0bc0-4db9-a08e-d168c18ce6f0&pf_rd_r=QPK4NCQCM6Y76SCP2JCP&refRID=QPK4NCQCM6Y76SCP2JCP&th=1
Great suggestion!
I went with this mat...name seemed appropriate.

I was planning on going with a couple of these myself, but hot damn they look pricey on there. They're like $20 CDN here. I think the key for immersive winds is a fan with a physical switch. These ones are essentially on or off, but they also have 3 possible speeds still based on physical switch placement.

Maybe my conversions are off but I would personally look at a local hardware store as opposed to Amazon.

Thank you boss, someone told me a tower fan might be better. Is that wrong then?
Honeywell Comfort Control Tower Fan

Ginger, teleport, vignette, play timed sessions and stop BEFORE you feel “funny” and do this every day, get a tms kit on amazon and run it below your palm while you play : amazon, use the natural locomotion app on steam, take breaks, ginger tea, Benadryl
If you're not inclined toward building up a lot of stamina for hours of standing, I recommend some kind of swivel stool for the middle of your playspace. I bought one of these and it's been great:
https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Sitting-Ergonomic-Stability-Standing/dp/B00HCLJDSK
I'll certainly echo the posture problem. It's really easy to slump down when you're immersed and bad posture is just a habit for you. My back starts hurting like crazy if I stop correcting. Stick your chest out and pull your shoulders back. Pretend you're Superman/Wonderwoman.
Wear Shoes and use an Anti fatigue mat. This greatly helps your feet. It also gives you a point to re center yourself into your hitbox.
A simple gear tie can completely get rid of the weight of the cable from your head and if you bend the ends in towards your waist a little it holds the wire off your back you don't even know its there. Don't forget Cable is tied to you when you take the headset off.

I have my cables tethered/hanging overhead from the ceiling. I use one of those "Amazon VR Cable pulley systems". Cost like $20.
I bought this for my Oculus Rift, but it's identical as the pulley systems advertised for the Vive.
https://www.amazon.com/MIDWEC-Packs-Management-Oculus-Headset/dp/B06XY5WKXW
DDR3 1866(Amazon)
I got these.

that should do it
If you're going to mess with a physical keyboard and mouse while in VR I strongly recommend this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J8HDCJW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1
It's small and light enough to keep in a pocket, uses a rechargeable and replaceable standard cell phone battery, has every QWERTY key, and you can touch type without taking off your headset with very little practice. The only negative in my opinion is that it uses a USB adapter for wireless communication instead of bluetooth; so you'll have to sacrifice a USB slot. I use a splitter to use this and my normal keyboard and mouse on one port to render this negative moot.
Thanks. The RAM is brand new so hopefully that's not the problem.
I checked and this is my psu.
Adding bEnableFileSelection=1 to Skyrimprefs.ini seems to have fixed the problem for me so far (knock on wood). At least I've gotten through Realistic Ragdolls-FNIS-XPMSSE-Flower Girls with no crashes and everything working as expected.
If it starts crashing again, next steps will be to check the RAM and replace the psu.
edit: Oh, and I do have the latest nvidia drivers. Upon reinstalling Windows today, I DDU'd the drivers that Windows installed and then installed the current drivers. I also just opted into the current SteamVR beta (an hour or so ago, not back before the problem began), though I doubt that made a difference either way.
