I've recently made Melinda's Red Savina my workhorse sauce. It's habanero-based so the heat is well-balanced with hints of fruitiness, but the reason I use it on almost everything these days is the flavor – it just tastes natural.

Bonus: Melinda's Naga Jolokia is superhot, but still has a distinct fruity flavor (unlike Dave's naga jolokia, which I feel has no real flavor, just heat). So if your tolerance has gotten really high, give it a go.

Also, I would like to mention that I am in no way affiliated with Melinda's – I just genuinely love the stuff, and it's easily found in stores (or at least where I live). xD

Busha Browns is my current favorite, went through my first bottle pretty quickly and just picked up 3 more today. For something a little spicier I like Melinda's Naga Jolokia. I just picked up like 10 new sauces today so maybe I'll have a new favorite soon haha

Well, as long as you keep homemade sauces refrigerated, they will degrade in taste quality well before they reach a stage where they are unsafe. It's just like any other food you would make: refrigerate what you can consume within a week and freeze the rest.

Sauces that have plenty of salt and/or vinegar have longer shelf lives. A really good recipe will tell you how the sauce should be stored and how long it will hold. I recommend starting with a good hot sauce cookbook, such as The Hot Sauce Cookbook by Walsh or Hot Sauce! by Thompson.

Once you decide to make a larger batch and can it, then food safety becomes more of an issue, since you'll be holding at room temperature for extended periods. At that point, the US Department of Agriculture's got you covered, with their excellent website on home food preservation.

Mentioned elsewhere but it is Lao Gan Ma. Lee Kum Kee is best for just about all the rest of the stuff I get like that though (hoisin, oyster, dark soy, etc), they may have an equivalent sauce. I know they have a chili garlic sauce, chili bean sauce and chili oil, but I don't know what the OP's sauces taste like for comparison.

I looooove Lee Kum Kee brand.

Agree with using reaper powder, but this is way more for your money. Amazon lists it as 1.5 oz but it’s actually two and is very hot and very versatile. Just be careful, it is super fine (do not try to smell it).

u/Xuyen · 13 pointsr/spicy

Love Shin Ramyun noodles! You should definitely try the Korean fire noodles. They're my current go-to. They're way spicier but still flavourful. If you google some variation of, "Korean spicy noodle challenge," you'll see them. The black package is great! The red package (2x spicy) I think is too hot - burns without any added flavour. The Asian grocery stores in my area have them but you can also get them on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ICT6ARS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1509566033&sr=8-1&keywords=Fire+noodles&dpPl=1&dpID=611BWPdjmXL&ref=plSrch

I haven't tried it nor do I know where to find it but I do have some experience with spicy rubs. I smoke a lot of meats so I am always making rubs. I generally find a rub recipe I like and add some carolina reaper powder to taste. It leaves it pretty flexible and bottle of the reaper powder will make a shitload of rub. I believe [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Carolina-Reaper-Pepper-Wicked-Hottest/dp/B00U5G7IN6/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1482996427&sr=8-4&keywords=carolina+reaper+powder) is the stuff I have been using (not home so I can't verify).

An awesome chili peanut snack is these "Magic Chili and Peanuts". It's got huge rounds of dry-fried crispy chili nuggets. They're not especially spicy, but the texture and taste are awesome. Only $5 or $6/bag at 99 Ranch 99.

My personal favorite is Dave's Scorpion Pepper Sauce.

Its very spicy, but the scorpion pepper in general has a great flavor and this sauce doesn't add any extra flavors.

Melinda's Naga Jolokia Sauce is another good one.

This one is made with the ghost pepper, and is also very spicy.

u/elementarybignum · 2 pointsr/spicy

The only place I know to get it is Amazon. I think the best deal there is for about $11 you can get a 2 oz shaker:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U5G7IN6/

They've shipped promptly each time I've ordered it, so delivery was pretty quick.

  1. get a bottle of Carolina Reaper Chili Pepper Powder Wicked Reaper World's Hottest Chili Pepper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U5G7IN6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6cpSCb7SYKMC9 or Scorpion Powder Chili Spice Seasoning Trinidad Moruga Pepper Powder Red Tail https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DWG673S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iepSCbR6R628N (the scorpion is my favorite)

Here you go. Best and spiciest packaged ramen i've had... be prepared :) . https://www.amazon.com/Samyang-Spicy-Chicken-Flavor-Ramen/dp/B01MUGP7QK

Lao gan ma brand chili sauces are some of the most popular in China--all my Chinese friends swear by it, as do I. I personally favor the flavor of the black bean sauce.

u/ILoveDaddysCummies · 1 pointr/spicy

I checked and you can buy them on amazon for 5.49, but thats only a 1.5 ounce bag, you could if you feel like its worth it, buy a 14 pack of 5 ounce bags to last you a while. There is also Paqui ghost pepper chips which are very good as an alternative.

u/vorpalpillow · 2 pointsr/spicy

it’s crispy chili flakes in oil

check the ingredients for potential allergy issues - it has MSG and peanuts I believe

Lao gan ma is the most popular brand, but other brands have been hitting the market, due to the massive success

u/kmoz · 9 pointsr/spicy

Lao Gan Ma is awesome. Its pretty easy to find at the asian grocery stores, or on amazon, but its legit.

https://www.amazon.com/Daves-Gourmet-Scorpion-Pepper-Sauce/dp/B004QO5E0M/

Probably the best Dave's Sauce IMO. I don't think you'll find any real artisan stuff on Amazon under $10, so you might have to go with the bigger labels.

u/Leavesdoorsopen · 1 pointr/spicy

There's a good base recipe in Robb Walsh's The Hot Sauce Cookbook. Search your local library online; you might luck out.

u/joecamel_ · 3 pointsr/spicy

If maybe he'd like the powdered version as well, I'd try Wicked Reaper.

Serious heat, and I feel like it will last me all year. Two light sprinkles to a full bowl of food and you're all set for the heat.

u/basiden · 2 pointsr/spicy

How would you compare the heat to other ghost sauces like Dave's?

Seeing you casually eat a whole spoonful makes me assume it's just piss-weak sauce with some good flavors. Not dissing your ability to eat spicy food, but I'm genuinely curious as to how it matches up.

u/lizard450 · 3 pointsr/spicy

Thanks :)

My stomach was acting up pretty bad about an hour ago. For a moment i thought I was going to vomit. Believe me ... vomiting is the absolute worst.

I'd highly recommend eating something like raisin bran to help push the capsaicin through your system faster.

If you're even a little bit constipated it will just sit in your stomach and intestines and it's no good. I don't know if it's the stomach acid going nuts or the capsaicin or both.

Basically I find that when I eat something beyond my tolerance level and I find it punishing like those youtube videos.. that a few days after I've recovered my tolerance is way higher.

I got this and it's pretty damn hot.

I poured a bunch of it on some of my food and it kicked my ass. I had my SO have a little bit on a toothpick and that was enough to get me in trouble. (and she has a higher tolerance than most people)

Now I can deal with that stuff really well. I can even handle a good amount of the Cajohn's nothing beyond which I also got off of amazon.

In order to get to my next level I'd like to get some sauce in the 4 million range. I'd really like to work up to something like the source, but it's really expensive and frankly it's a bit intimidating.

u/Wista · 1 pointr/spicy

BAM

Dis shit is so delicious omg. Seriously it tastes like delicious Korean lava I want some right now but I csan't take the heartburn.

Some pepcid please?

u/KnowsTheLaw · 4 pointsr/spicy

Scotch bonnets are really hot. Just because something has scotch bonnets in it, doesn't mean you have to move up to a hotter pepper, just need more scotch.

I don't like the Matouk's, try putting Pure Cap into another tasty hot sauce you love. I sometimes buy cheap 2L bottles of louisiana style, presidents choice or whatever and spike it. http://www.amazon.com/Pure-Cap-Hot-Sauce-Ferociously/dp/B0000DG4NJ

u/nexuschild · 1 pointr/spicy

Angry lady sauce

http://www.amazon.com/Lao-Gan-Chili-Crisp-Sauce/dp/B0051D84JU

This is my go to for all Asian dishes now - fantastic taste and easy to modulate heat depending on how much you add.

u/Saytanschild · 84 pointsr/spicy

Spicy Chicken Ramen by Samyang is also very good. It comes in regular and 2 x Spicy.

u/chilehead · 1 pointr/spicy

TJ's doesn't get them until about November, and it's hard to find there after New Years. I keep asking about their Triple Threat pack, but it looks like they aren't going to do that again.

u/DerangedDiphthong · 3 pointsr/spicy

Does this look like the same thing?

u/Masuchievo · 2 pointsr/spicy

It is a bit more spicy and has a red cap instead of a green one.

I prefer it over the original.

Quick google: http://www.amazon.com/Flying-Goose-Sriracha-Super-Chili/dp/B004BTLDFM

u/schnitzelbaum · 1 pointr/spicy

is there a red cap one from huy fong? the only one with a red cap i know is the fake one ( flying goose brand ) which i personally think is better (in taste as well as in spicy/hotness)

u/TheDemonator · 1 pointr/spicy

One that I'm surprised wasn't listed here is Dave's Gourmet Scorpion sauce

https://www.amazon.com/Daves-Gourmet-Scorpion-Pepper-Sauce/dp/B004QO5E0M/

u/shadowdude777 · 3 pointsr/spicy

Middle one looks like this, and right one is this.

Not sure about the two left ones. Sorry.

u/coreyrude · 3 pointsr/spicy

Sometimes you can come across this in trader joes it's usually hidden away on a random top shelf. https://www.amazon.com/Trader-Joes-Triple-Threat-Pepper/dp/B01A7J88U2

u/kellydean1 · 1 pointr/spicy

Magic Chili with Peanuts I can't stop eating it once I open the bag!

u/inviso__bill · 1 pointr/spicy

I see the Dave's ghost pepper, have you tried Melinda's Naga Jolokia? I've always felt it's the ghost pepper sauce with the best flavor to go with the heat.

https://www.amazon.com/Melindas-Naga-Jolokia-Hot-Sauce/dp/B002ATCFX4

u/username_lookup_fail · 5 pointsr/spicy

Really good with hummus.

These are hotter but the flavor isn't as good.

u/[deleted] · 5 pointsr/spicy

Half gallon of green Yucatero: https://www.amazon.com/El-Yucateco-Green-Habanero-Sauce/dp/B01AYB8ECA

They have most of the other flavors too (red, xxxhot, black label).

u/Nevermind04 · 4 pointsr/spicy

Amazon has 5 packs for $9.41 bucks and I've also seen it at HEB for $2.39 per pack, if my memory is correct.

u/brendanec · 3 pointsr/spicy

A couple:

Thai spicy noodles at spicy level #10 are a mess to my bowels for a few days. I'm beginning to think the joy of the spice isn't worth the ensuing discomfort.

Home made mexican meals with hot sauce over everything.

Home made chili with this stuff in it:http://www.amazon.com/The-Source-Sauce-Million-Scoville/dp/B001BIXJG2 I've had the bottle for a year and can't seem to use it.

u/alienwrkshop51 · 5 pointsr/spicy

I'm not too sure honestly. I ordered it from Amazon.

u/Tokolam · 4 pointsr/spicy

I tried The Source there today. One drop of this sauce completely engulfed any other sauce I tried for the rest of the afternoon; 7.1 million scoville units is not something to scoff at.

u/alabamdiego · 1 pointr/spicy

I use pure capsicum for a lot of dishes including ramen, shabu shabu, pho, chilli, etc. etc. All heat, no flavor (not much anyway).

This is the one I have.

Kinda

Turns out I read the listing wrong and amazon don't actually sell the ghost one, I was looking at the Naga Jolokia one (didn't realise they were different).

Amazon sucks for hot sauces. I usually use Chilli Bugs but have never thought to look in Tk Maxx before.

u/Keffmaster · 11 pointsr/spicy

Have you tried Samyang Ramen / Spicy Chicken. I can take heat most of the time no problem. This stuff made me cough and my lips burned after for a little bit.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ICT6ARS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_unKvzbT4KXRDR

u/travelanche · 3 pointsr/spicy

This was released last year and I haven’t seen it since.

My wife broke the reaper jar on the kitchen floor and it was like someone sprayed mace in the house.

I got a box of the Death Rain Habanero Kettle chips and they light me on fire but so delicious, I even eat the crumbs in the bottom of the bag.

Usually takes a good 30 minutes for the mouth burn to stop, then the ass burn stops by noon the next day.
