I want to start off with this very important thing to remember, "take your time" while doing this model there was times I only sat down for a few minutes and times I was there for over an hour.
I would recommend practicing the techniques listed below on the sprues (the frame surrounding the parts of the model)

I over do the details,(lot of it you can't see in the pictures. I post) but I enjoy the painting and get satisfaction off of it, it can be toned down and still look good

I normally look over the book, Google the characters/vehicle down load multiple pictures to refer to and get an idea what colors I want before getting started. I also watch YouTube videos to see if there is something difficult I need to be aware of.

Sometimes it is easier to paint some of the details while the parts are still on the sprues, see the black in the chest plates I painted them before I cut them loose, it was easier to do them that way. But I always waited until I put section together (ex: chest, waste , arms , legs and head) to do the wash "weathering" this way they all blend together. With this one, I want it to look more weathered at the bottom and less as it went up

Some definitions:

Wash "weathering" this is how I made the "dirty look" i did not let it set for 10 mins. I applied small sections and wiped off what I did not want with a Q-tip. The darker parts, I just applied small amounts with with a fine tip brush.

Dry brush

As you can see here Dry brushing really gives the look of age /worn out.
you would be better off going to the link I provided and watching a few videos.

Variety of brushesif you buy the dirt cheap brushes, you will get a cheap paint job. The ones I linked are a good set to start with, they give you a wide variety of choices. Main thing to do is CLEAN...CLEAN CLEAN...them after each use. With thinner and soapy water. Do not leave them setting in the thinner or water, the points and edges with get messed up quick. Wipe them off with a paper towel, reform the ends when done.

Magnifing head set is the best way to get the small details, i have this set and they work okay, there are better sets out there.

Hope this helps

Regarding a better way to display, I recommend picking up a display case designed for shot glasses like this

The droids fit perfectly and look great on the wall

value is really in the eye of the buyer. what they are willing to pay. I use ebay as a good guide, but most thing are overpriced especially when you consider shipping, as the price may be great but then you'll see $40 for shipping on one action figure. here are a few guides that have used in the past:

keep in mind also most of these came out before the force awakens and a resurgence in the force, so values may be under-priced.
also I have several of these books if you need me to look up items, I would be more than happy to.

That's nice. Didn't even know this existed. How much? Do you know what scale it is or how tall?

I just bought the Bandai 1/48 scale model kit and will be putting it together this weekend. I want to apply something like the Tamiya 87085 weathering set but I havent done my research yet to know what type of paint it even is or how to properly seal it.

I'm curious about this 1/50 from Sega also.

Just acrylic paint and some fine detail brushes. I use a combination of Testors Model Master and Vallejo acrylics. Harrop's tutorial vid on painting faces has a section where he goes over how he paints eyes in that I found very useful. It involves just painting the white in first and then using a very fine tip Micron pen, you just put a large black dot in the center of the eye. After that, then you go and carefully paint in whatever color the eye is supposed to be (you're just painting a slightly smaller dot over the black dot) to emulate the iris and then afterwards, painting another small white dot on top of that to simulate the highlight effect of an eye.

It takes a steady hand and some patience but it's fairly simple to do once you get the hang of it. I only recently started trying to paint eyes and faces on figures and it's taken a few tries to start getting the rhythm down.

Get one of those, or go to walmart and look in the hardware area and they have similar plastic cases for like $3-6. I have like 6 of these that I really try to jam all of my accessories into. I was just going through all my boxes last night to try and catch up on packing them.

Hi all!!
Long time lurker first time poster.

After a long hiatus I’m finally set on complete my Gentle Giant Animated series collection, one of my favourite lines in SW figures.

The thing is, I’ve been offered a Darth Vader maquette (this one ) on a local second hand store (lucky me! no shipping costs!), but taking a good look I found a couple of weird things, both on the back of the base:
First the serial number seems erased. No big deal for me, but this number is hand painted and judging from others statues I have feels difficult to fade this way.

Second and most disturbing issue: IT HAS A TYPO!!! ‘Dath’ Vader.
I mean..... for real???
So..... it is possible that this is a fake?? (if is a fake is a very good one)

Does anyone over here have this figure and can confirm me if they all have this typo as well?

Here you go: https://www.amazon.ca/Star-Black-Darth-Figure-Inches/dp/B00CFELU2G/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1496789747&sr=8-5&keywords=Darth+Maul

It should be noted that the amazon.com.uk-based vendor has a different name (Niche Gift Shop) and shows slightly different packaging than what the North American guy (Toy Vendor UK) is selling. Then again, both vendors have almost identical business descriptions. shrugs Buyer beware.

I use clear plastic / wire command hooks like this to hang my carded figures. They have bigger sizes that can be used for heavier figures.

These-

Everything else is either junk or doesnt fit the odd-ass peg sizes in the Black Series Figures feet. I've ordered them all and they all sucked except for the Kaiser doll stands-trust me.

A new entry for the series of vault editions will be released Oct. 30, 2018, Star War: Smuggler's Guide:

https://www.starwars.com/news/smugglers-guide-dan-wallace

I see they've got the Rebel Files Vault Edition up for $79.99 so if that's the going rate for the newest book, the preorder price of $63.42 might be a bit o f a deal:
