idk why you were downvoted but that's pretty much my suspicion. It's looking like Saniderm in the largest size they have might be the best bang for your buck but if you aren't constantly getting giant pieces and it's for personal use and you're not a tattoo artist this would be best https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015TI2ZA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AGBSKTQNEDHK7&psc=1. I think I read in some blog somewhere that Secondskin isn't as sticky as the other ones? I'm not sure that's true though.

Honestly? My advice is to get saniderm/tatuderm/tegaderm. It's a transparent waterproof dressing. You just slap it on and let it heal. It heals much better, and you don't have to wash and goop it all the time. You can buy it for yourself. My last artist didn't use it, so I just got some myself and applied it when I got home.

Here is the one I got off amazon, but they all have it in Walgreens. It is used for non-tattoo wounds/scrapes.

If you are gonna do it though, make sure you watch some application instructions.

If you don't want to do this, instructions are:

  1. Wash with gentle soap 2-3 times a day. Dr. Bronner's is great.

  2. Let air dry. DO NOT DRY WITH A TOWEL. The fibers can be irritating and carry bacteria.

  3. When it is COMPLETELY dry, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor. Do NOT use neosporin.

  4. Do this in the morning, when you get home from school/work, and before you go to bed. Try not to rub your tattoo on anything, and let it breathe.

    Talk to your artist too.

Definitely from the after-care he recommended you use. I have sensitive skin too and have had reactions to certain ointments. The most recent one I've used is After Inked. Recommended to me from my last artist and by far the best tattoo after care ointment I've used.

You should absolutely pick up some Wet Skin Kids.

It's like a big Chapstick and it's awesome for protecting tattoos in the sun. It's also great to use for some extra protection on you nose and cheeks.

I had both of my breasts/nipples done just a few months ago!

I experimented and tried out a numbing cream and my result was FANTASTIC. I’ve had my back, sides, one forearm, and both calves done so I’m not new to the sensation of being tattooed. The numbing cream was fantastic and absolutely worth it for the areola. I read a lot of mixed reviews, and my two cents is that reviewers probably didn’t leave the cream on long enough before the tattoo and didn’t cover it with plastic wrap to sit. I lathered and covered with plastic wrap for about 2 hours before my session started, and would say I got about 1-2 hours of good numbing out of it where it took away about 75% of the pain.

The second side didn’t have any numbing left by the time we got there, and let me tell you the pain was intense. Most intense tattoo pain I’ve felt for sure. It was bearable with breaks and a lot of cussing, but much better with the numbing cream. If you use it, just make sure to time out when you put the cream on well, as it won’t re-absorb if you wait too long like I did on the second side.

I used this one and the jar is more than enough (my tattoos are my whole breast/nipple)

Wash it when you shower, use your hand with a very little amount of soap on the area.

Do not moisturize with lotions or vaseline. Do not wrap/cover the area.

Keep dry during the day and at night before bed use a very small amount of bacitracin(it’s like neosporin but less aggressive) to lightly cover the area.

If you find your tattoo is leaking or producing moisture throughout the day pat it dry as needed. You will develop a hard scab which will heal and fall off over time —Do Not Pick Your Scabs, let them come off on their own time—

Pretty much any pharmacy will have this ointment in stock, it’s not difficult to find.

Very high. Your skin is literally still full of holes at that point. Worse, it's so full of holes, the ink can still exit the skin rather easily!

You probably want to get something like this, depending on the size of your tatt, if you've got to get into the water ASAP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EO0ANDU?psc=1

Make sure to wash well immediately after you are out!

There are these sponges on a stick, kind of like a loofa. They are used to apply lotion to the back or hard to reach areas if you have limited range of motion. They can be found at most stores such as a Walmart or on amazon. They can be handy for situations like this. You just have to keep them clean and be sure not to press to hard during the application process.

Solid advice. This was one of my favorite books that was recommended by my Drawing Fundamentals teacher when I started college.

There is a book you need to check out we keep it out on our coffee table called Inked Inc. Its all about tattooed professionals. Its definetly a good one to look at and has some cool stories.

My skin is more or less medium level. I've never gotten sunburned so I'm guessing SPF 50-70 might be fine for me. As for new tattoos, I'll probably wear a hoodie or something like that.

What do you think about this one?

Dermablend will cover them, but you'd probably have to reapply it a couple of times during your shift and I imagine that would get old pretty quick.

What's the policy on jewelry? If you can wear bracelets, you might be able to wear leather bands on your wrists. Or even wrist sleeves, like these if they're allowed. When I need to cover my forearms but don't want to wear long sleeves, I use a nylon sock with the toes cut off...

You have options, but it basically comes down to what you can wear with your uniform.

If you talked about this product, you can find it in any pharm store here (out of the USA) I used to work in a pharm store and we always had those.

u/sothisis30 · 2 pointsr/tattoo

you can cut it and overlay multiple sheets. I got mine off amazon. search Saniderm, Tegaderm or Tatuderm. it's all the same stuff. They come in different sizes.

That's pretty solid, man. I'm no expert at tattooing though I feel like you might be able to see a portion of the inside of the skull through that gap between the teeth and jaw, and his brow is a little big. I want to recommend you this book that my professor gave me a long time ago back in college. I was already able to draw pretty well but this solidified my skills as an illustrator. Keep it up and big ups to your friend for taking you in and teaching you seriously. There are no bad students, only bad teachers. What most people wanting to do anything with art need is to be given a chance and taught with some patience.
