Actually have two of the books, got the one released like in March and it goes over day-by-day the events leading up to DC.

Some key events and organizational information on the Division Agents;

December 18-20th Directive 51 is issued releasing the first-wave agents into NYC

Next year Jan 1-5th first-wave agents in DC are activated

Jan 6th second-wave agents are activated in NYC

Jan 7th President Waller dies from cardiac arrest (rumor is that it was green-poison)

April 9th President Mendez dies from "suicide", secret service is assumed compromised; in-game president Ellis is new POTUS

July Ellis goes "missing" and black tusk run rampant in DC (current in-game month)

The book highlights some origin with the concept of "Division" agents starting in 1940 with some discussion on 9/11 and George W. Bush (some realism stuff I assume tossed in) but important to note the game-lore government has been working on agents like this for quite some time.

It's also highlighted the structure of power for access to Division agents (it's not just the POTUS);

  1. POTUS
  2. Vice President
  3. National Security Advisor
  4. National Continuity Coordinator
  5. Continuity Policy Coordination Committee

Prior to Directive 51 the NEA (National Emergencies Act) existed providing congress to rescind emergency authority; this was changed and Directive 51 super-sedes the NEA and doesn't require the president to notify congress (this seems to reason the amount of corruption at the top).

The Division also has a support structure internally (not just Agents running amock with President's orders) they have three underlying operational cores (R&D, Support, Operations) with operations being further split (Internal Affairs, Strategic, and Tactical).

Likely everyone knows but Division agents have supreme authority (no one outranks their status if it's in their mission responsibilities) meaning they have direct control of DCD (Disease Control Division), CERA (Catastrophic Emergency Response Agency), and the JTF (Joint Task Force).

Division agents come from all backgrounds however their is a strict vetting process and Sr Division Agents handle the final bits of recruitment; extreme testing is done in VR environments and tons of mental and health checks are required (list is hellah long) though a call-out is specific to agents having extreme mental resilience and mental strength (essentially all agents are geniuses with no real fear; combat skills can be lacking if a candidate excels in the mental aspects).

Won't go into detail with training because it's standard stuff however their final act is the embedding of the agent (civilian jobs primarily ranging from teachers to paramedics and police).

Saving the best for last, there is a single page dedicated to Rogue Agents and Aaron Keener (funnily enough his ID card is scratched out in the book, he is O- though and is 34 years of age and his embedded status was as a Futures Trader). In short, rogue agents came to be when the JTF betrayed the first-wave agents and left them stranded in the Dark Zone; Aaron Keener rounded up fellow agents that felt the same way and they abandoned the protocol for Continuity of Government creating alliances with other factions. It's called out in Keener's page that he formed an elite group of agents who pledged loyalty to him and he in turn would eliminate those that didn't follow him.

Notable additional info on rogue agents; quite a few agents under Keener were captains for the LMB during the NYC events, after Bliss was killed the LMB group disbanded (weren't wiped out) however the remnants did not favor Aaron Keener as they felt betrayed by him (along with the allied factions, their shared common ground). It's also noted in Charles Bliss's profile that the surviving LMB have likely found "new leadership" (doesn't specify much more).

Moving forward, the Black Tusk are the unique faction to be; it's called out that they have taken control of majority of the military bases in the US along with power-grids, ISP's, media networks, and more. Notable callout is that they have a long history of working in the shadowy portions of the government and have been involved in handling conflict zones across the world (Latin America, Middle East, Southeast Asia, North America) with their primary directives being to "cleanse, pacify, and police the emerging new America".

Honestly, if you really like TD2 and you want more lore; this book scratches some of the itches (especially for the factions as not much really exists in-game).

Should mention my own personal opinion on the hunters: I personally feel they are an elite unit directly serving with Aaron Keener, I think with his experience and mental capacity that he has formed his own "Division" and has embedded these agents in the factions that we fight today (including the Black Tusk). SHD tech seems to still be the gold-standard of technology and by eliminating the Division he empowers his own unit with the very same technology.

Great post. I can't really have much to say except that I agree with all the points.

It's a smaller picture, as the voice of the internet has affected general media and modern society already. On a different topic, Rumors these days get spun out of control (video game or other topics). Just look at the recent "Nintendo NX" leaks lately. It's like I'm back in HS.

Since you talked about Community and online, you might be interested in this book that the late Satoru Iwata referenced

This would be a possible solution for now: http://www.amazon.com/Headset-Hands-free-Adapter-Microphone-Generation/dp/B000YE35I6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457984532&sr=8-3&keywords=headset+mute+switch

Are you able to remap any of the controller buttons in the settings? Are you able to modify any of the config files?

It's a pretty specific issue. The devs may address it in the future, but I'm sure they're busy with other pertinent issues. You may just need to find your own solution for now.

Well, if you get the chance before launch read The Mole People. I read this in a college anthropology class a few years ago and it was so interesting that I kept the book. It details so much about underground culture and the vast network of tunnels and cisterns and the resourcefulness and survival skills of these "Mole People."

Also, more to your comment, it would be interesting to see a couple people holding out in a penthouse or on a rooftop and going on supply runs into the lower levels of the building or into the city.

And you can read the new one for the division 2 Broken Dawn when it releases March 26th.

EDIT: Extremis Malis part 1 & part 2 (2/13/19) comics are out now as well.

Part 3 comes out March 13th, 2019.

You need one of these. Had one of these in college playing a shit ton of WoW. Granted, I'd come back to a cold pizza, but at least it wasn't burned!

In the spirit of the game's "Holiday" ambiance, I intend to listen to "Hung for the Holidays"

EDIT - On a more serious note, I'll probably listen to the S.V.E.R. Soundtrack, particularly this song.

I was referring to just the SSD being installed internal. There is an option to order it with a single mount. I wasn't sure if the PS4 Pro required the mount or if there was already mounting hardware built in to attach the drive.

Personal selection has always been Merc Stealth keyboard: http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Merc-Stealth-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00292OW1U
(no longer made so the ones laying around are VERY expensive)

And...

Razor Naga mouse.

http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Naga-Ergonomic-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00E8CF268

Pros: Both have exceptional key mapping options(more buttons=good) The Merc stealth WILL change the way you play overnight. I am unable to use a normal keyboard after using a Merc stealth for nearly 10 years.

Cons: Both are low quality and tend to burn out after about a year.

Just an Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UH_UCACyDE - review of Merc Stealth in 2010 will show its MSRP for $100. I not sells 2nd had for nearly $300. If you can find one cheap buy it!

The maker of the video says that he found several components on sale/used, as well as took advantage of rebates. He doesn't include mouse and keyboard into the price because 99% of people have that already, as well as a monitor because even a tv could be used.

Case: Cooler Master Wavemaster ($10)
Honestly, computers can be built into a cardboard box if need be.

CPU: i5 750 ($55)

CPU Cooler: Arctic Silver 11 GT ($6)

Motherboard: Asus P7H55 ($67)

PSU: EVGA 430W ($15)

Memory: 4GB OCZ DDR2 ($30)

HDD: 320GB Samsung Spinpoint ($20)

GPU: MSI GTX 760 ($140)

The computer will run Crisis 3 on ultra settings at 30fps. Dark Souls 2 can be played at 4K(DSR) at 60fps. The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 on high at 30fps. There's more but im tired of typing.
