Fresh bud (eight weeks canned curing) is the pinnacle point of cured bud. After that the THC cannabinoids rapidly change composition and lose potency. Fresh bud is far better than aged bud. You may hear of other curing processes, but canning works wonders and is affordable too.

Canning sweats the bud, which causes it to retain its smell and flavor and allows the bud to burn more efficiently. By opening and closing the can at different intervals you can control how damp or dry you want your buds to be. Try to use cans that have a larger opening at the lid – enough to allow your whole hand to fit inside. This is because some of the trichomes will fall from the bud into the bottom of the can. Use your fingers to get at these trichomes. You can gather these into a small mass they can be smoked later on.

Drying your bud helps to relax the THC particles by removing water from the bud. This makes THC easier to burn and thus more psychoactive than when it's damp. Applying heat will remove water and will affect the overall cannabinoid content of the bud. It is not a good idea to press bud or to pack tightly during the curing process, because bunching of THC particles will make them harder to burn.

Curing helps to break down Chlorophyll, which has magnesium-containing green pigments. Magnesium is responsible for the sharp and harsh taste in the back of your throat when smoking fresh bud. This is another good reason to cure your bud.

If you over dry your buds you may lose too much moisture, resulting in bud that has less taste and aroma then it should. The best way to add moisture back into your buds is to introduce new fresh bud to your cans. The new fresh buds will share their moisture with the dried bud, bringing them back to a more even level of moisture and restoring their aroma and taste. Some people use fruit slices to bring back moisture, such as apples or orange slices. These fruit slices will also add their own aroma to the buds.

If you have dried your plants for three weeks hanging upside down you can subtract that time from the canning time. Although you can have good bud to smoke two weeks after harvest, it is better to wait for four weeks or more.

Get rid of the tinfoil - You can use mylar if you want, but a good coat of flat white paint works fine.

With such limited vertical space, work on training your plants - tie them down so they grow sideways as opposed to straight up. Top your plants after the 4th/5th node to help control growth. How long you veg them depends on how much vertical space you have in flowering. Most plants will at least double their size in 12/12, plan accordingly.

Yep, it is nice to get one with a magnetic lid so that it doesn't spill, and you just put your herb on the grinder thingies and put the lid on and twist it. then when you open up the middle chamber you have nice fluffy buds to smoke.

You can do it with your fingers but I just really prefer having a grinder. It's cleaner and I feel like with doing it manually I end up losing more on my fingers or by dropping it.

Also, you can collect kief with a grinder, which is awesome. I actually just cleaned mine and got a ton of good stuff out of it.

I use a four piece Sharp Stone (got it here) and it works great. A good one will usually run you around 30, but you can find ones on Amazon for under 10 that still get the job done. I would say that when you're collecting all your kief you get a nice scrapper/brush from Entsupercenter. You might want a kief press too, and I have a cali crusher that works great, and it came with my grinder.

here's what I bought in January. it still works fine for me although I might have to clean it shortly. Sometimes I have a little hard time trying to grind my weed. Not sure if it's the grinding part or just the weed is hard to grind but I'll probably clean it in about a month when I get back to school. My friend also asked me what grinder I got and showed him this and he got it and he really likes it.

Bought one of these not too long ago, and I love it. However, I've heard some people mention metal shavings in their ground herb. I've yet to experience that with mine; so far, thing works great, and it's pretty inexpensive.

Great book. But a lot of those look like grow books. I see Jorge Cervante's book in that pile, one of my favorites. As well as Ed Rosenthal's growers handbook in the upper right corner

You can grind a good amount of weed in there and carry it around or just not have to grind weed for a few days or even weeks if you fill it up. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything cooler and/or better before I buy another one of these.

There are a ton of awesome grinders for pretty cheap online. I highly recommend avoiding head shops, since they can be very expensive. This guy looks pretty good for only $15. It might be a little on the small side, but most of the time you dont need to grind like an 1/8th at a time.

measuring by volume isn't very accurate, as different types of weed have different densities. but normally, a half gram (a single serving for edibles) is a small pile that will fit in the center of the palm of your hand. i would highly suggest buying a small scale off of amazon or something, they're dirt cheap.

Trust me, instead of going out to buy a couple of grams, next time go out and buy a quality grinder! Trust me it'll pay off when you have nicely ground herb and kief to match. :D

I met Ed at HempCon in San jose a few years ago.

I just use the "chromium crusher" i found on amazon, for around 20 bucks. Stainless steel, heavy, holds your kief very well and has that same screen to sift it all. Ive had this thing a year now, and it has no rust, barely any marks (and i beat the shit out of it), and still grinds great.

they are super easy to make your own. You would need a cardboard Tube ( toilet paper or paper towel) , a rubber band and dryer sheets. Take the dryer sheets and stuff them in the tube and blow the hits threw it, you can use 1 sheet to cover the end and hold with rubber band.

When it comes to torches, your best bet is to invest a little more and get the GT 8000. It's built to last for years, so chances are you're never going to need to buy another torch.

But as far as your dabs go, I don't think that the torch would cause that issue. Like the others said, maybe let it get seasoned a little bit.

Formula 420 is awesome. Just follow the directions on the bottle and your glass will look like new.

I recommend the Cone Artist, a great alternative rolling device.

depending on the features and stuff you are looking for it could be different. But look up herb grinders on amazon and you can select based off of reviews etc. One I have was super cheap and functions perfectly. mine. MJ isn't the only herb you grind in these kinds of things, most other dried herbs are what these are used for. Because of that there is no shortage.

Just curious, do you find your joints or blunts get dried out when you roll all at once? Or do they stay fairly fresh? I've heard grinding makes weed dry out faster but I haven't experienced that.

Maybe try a screen like the size of the larger one in this grinder for filtering out stems? You'd obviously want something bigger, I'd expect, but it is a starting point.

As long as you clear whatever youre smoking and there isn't any flower burning this should do wonders for the smell (no bud smell at all). If you get one hitters and blow into this you should be fine but also its a one hitter so theres that lol

This is the easiest way to roll a joint I've found. Just roll a crutch and slide it into the bottom of the orange tube. Then wrap a king size paper around the tube and the top of the crutch and seal it. This allows you to pull the cone cleanly off of the orange part. Then you put your cone on the clear part, and put ground herb into the top. You can shake it around, or use the orange part to pack it down.

it will collect in the bottom chamber of the grinder. It usually takes quite a while to collect. In places where it's legal you can buy just vials of kief but it's kind of expensive.

You don't need to do anything to it, you just put it over some weed and smoke it like normal. Or you can mix it with some bud and roll a joint.

Ed Rosenthal has a book that would probably answer most of your questions. As for seeds, it's probably your best bet to try and find them through people.

I bought the vanilla scented Ozium, and it works far better than Febreeze. I could still smell pot even after spraying all over my room with Febreeze, but Ozium really does just make it go away. Not to mention Febreeze sprays liquid everywhere, whereas Ozium just mists into the air. Read the reviews as well!

I'd put together a "stoner care package"; bee line hemp wick, "Holy Rollers" rolling paper and maybe a raw joint roller and some lighters. Total is $40.00 + shipping.

Why. Why did you let this get so bad.

Use a ziplock bag, fill it like a quarter of the way with hot water and a couple of drops of Formula 420, insert the piece, seal bag and shake it.

Open bag, rinse with water, get a Q-tip, dab the end with Formula 420 and clean out the inside of the pipe. If more nasty remains, repeat the ziplock baggie step. Otherwise, rinse in hot water and dry.

If I'm namedropping Formula 420 a lot, it's because it works wonders. Cleans (all) glass and ceramic like nothing else, and makes it smell like oranges.

Multiple screen sizes to get better kief possibly? I just found a 5 piece grinder on amazon that has 2 sized screens to it.

It's all personal taste, there are some torches that require you to hold the "trigger" down to keep it lit and there are some that only require you press the ignition once.

I prefer the torches that require you press it once, when it comes to torches you absolutely get what you pay for.

You might also want to take into consideration a torch that has "child safety" features, they can be a real pain if you are consistently dabbing and don't have children or somehow have a system that guarantees child safety.

This is the torch I use, simple design, large flame, heats up my rig way quicker than any other torches I've used.

I'm not sure if you could caramelize sugar with this torch as the flame is massive. But if you plan on dabbing a lot and can keep it away from children I highly recommend it.

After having this grinder for about a week now I can confirm the scissor method works just as well, if not better sometimes. It does take longer and makes your hand cramp after a couple of minutes, the grinder is much quicker.

I would say this is a must read for any ent looking at making his thumb greener. In short, the pistols should be 60-70 % brown and the fan leaves will start to change color. Plus the smell will become intoxicating.

Sorry to say but its situational depending on a variety of factors; including what the specific polcies your college has in place for these type of offenses. At my university it is a federally funded campus in WA state but since its federal campus its illegal to have any weed on campus at all. Ive had basically the same exact situation occur after hitting a few dabs in my dorm and having the cops show up. I also lied and said i never smoked and that was the end of the police involvement.. I now have a policy violation from the school due to that situation but its not really the worst thing that could happen as its just a meeting and a 100$ fine. Honestly bro just look at your specific colleges policies on this stuff and figure it out. Sorry it happened but you just gotta be careful. Also buy some ozium spray and smell will not be an issue any longer.

To add to this:

• Use a pipe screen to make single bowl hits as efficient as possible. Sometimes if you do a small hit with no screen some of the weed will fall through before you can light it.
  
  
  
• Ozium is extremely effective, but just beware it has its own lemon smell (link to amazon)
  
  
• If you can swing the $10 or so, a Smokebuddy works wonders (link to amazon). Seriously you can take a massive hit and blow it out through one of these and see no smoke come through. It doesn't completely eliminate the odor but will reduce it much more than the classic dryer sheet sploof method.
  
  
• Another way to put out a bowl quickly is to put your thumb over the top of the bowl. No oxygen = no fire. Just be careful to not burn your thumb!

This is what I bought when I wanted
a 4 peice but couldn't spend to much $$$. I've had mine for over a year now and no complaints . With plastic & cheap grinders that's when you should worry about particles mixing with your herbs, but with sharp stone grinders that's not something I'd be worried about :)

I don't know much about law-enforcement's feelings toward trees over there, but I do know that here they'd need to know who's door to direct the police to, (If you're just outside and you smell weed and complain to the police they'll probably tell you there's nothing they can do unless you can tell where it's coming from) and if they did choose to show up, they'd have to smell it themselves and suspect it's coming from your specific domicile, and then they'd have to also suspect that you have enough that you could be selling it, because they'll need a warrant if they want to search your residence.

The next thing is to get yourself something like a Smoke Buddy to exhale through to mitigate the smell, and be mindful of how you smoke. Bowls you can kill off in one hit produce a lot less smell than say a joint.
