I don't think it would be enjoyable at all without seeing the show first.
Also, there are two subtle spoilers that ruin both[spoiler](/s "the entire first season") and[spoiler](/s "a large twist in the second season mystery") (both of those spoilers are vague, but I'd still avoid them if you watch the movie. You can read them if you choose not to watch the movie; promise), so that's no fun.
That being said, the show is 100% worth watching, so please do! It's steaming on Amazon Prime and the DVDs are on sale on amazon.ca (If you're in the US, you'll have to pay for shipping, but can still buy them. I think someone said it worked out to ~$40 for the whole series) for $10 CDN a season.
EDIT: Yeah, $39.40 USD total.
I don't know yet! But it looks like it has gotten really good reviews on Amazon :).
