Shoes are really personal -- I prefer shoes by Merrell, but Clarks have been good to me too. I've tried others that have gotten good reviews by people I know (Dansko, Sketchers, Crocs) and they've been horrible for my energy and/or comfort.
For a watch, I recommend (and wear) a child's Timex (like this one, or this one) -- easy to read, a sweep second hand, a stretch band that's easy to wash, and waterproof.
As a final year student imma level with you. I crammed pharms with mnemonics the week before my exam and it left my brain just as quickly. I learnt mostly ALL I know about pharms from our clinical lectures (ie diagnose this treat with this) and during my clinical training.
Not sure if it's just me but I really struggled with the rote learning section of vetsci that was tox, pharms and infectious disease.
Through clinics I learnt the important drugs and the side effects that matter.
Books that are useful but mostly for clinical reference and less so for studying are:
If you're more into small animals - BSAVA Small Animal Formulary
If you're more into mixed practice - Saunders Veterinary Drugs
Maybe it's not what you wanted to hear but I can tell you with all confidence that you are not the first and you are not the last student to struggle with pharmacology.
Good luck I hope it helps
'Course! The socks are these ones (which I know look sketchy, but either they're working well for me or I'm suffering from a damn good placebo effect). The watch is this one (or, sort of. the watch itself is the same, but it has a velcro strap -- which is unexpectedly super helpful), and the scrubs are these (top and bottom) -- they've got the right amount and placement of pockets, they're comfortable, they come in a buttload of colours.
I have found these quite neat . There's smaller sets if interested .
