First thing I'd do is order [Wii Party U] ( http://www.amazon.com/Party-Black-Remote-Plus-nintendo-u/dp/B00DC7FWRE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842635&sr=8-1&keywords=wii+party+u).
It's $50 and comes with a black motion + controller and comes out this month. The game looks really fun local mutliplayer, and you will really want a Wiimote+ in your collection as well so this kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Grab a Black Nunchuck to match and you should be good to go.

[NintendoLand] (http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Land-wii-u/dp/B002I0K3M0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843310&sr=8-1&keywords=nintendo+land) - Is really fun local multiplayer, and can be found for $20 or less these days. Keep an eye out and you can get it cheap.

[Need for Speed Most Wanted U] ( http://www.amazon.com/Need-Speed-Most-Wanted-Nintendo-u/dp/B00A39IEN8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843367&sr=8-6&keywords=need+for+speed+most+wanted ) - is the best version of the game. They support every feature the PS360 has + off screen play, a co-driver mode which helps you change your environments, DLC included, further draw distances and higher res textures (they used the PC textures, not the PS360 ones) so if you don't already have it, it's a great game and under $20.

[Rayman Legends] ( http://www.amazon.com/Rayman-Legends-nintendo-wii-u/dp/B008AU4YEA/ref=sr_1_1_title_0?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381843522&sr=1-1&keywords=rayman+legends+wiiu ) - Is also best on Wii U, in particular if you have someone to play co-op with.

I'd also at least try the [Zombie U] ( http://www.amazon.com/ZombiU-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B00897Z27C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843957&sr=8-1&keywords=zombie+u), Monster Hunters 3, [Wonderful 101] ( http://www.amazon.com/The-Wonderful-101-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B002I08CSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381844015&sr=8-1&keywords=wonderful+101), Sonic & All Stars Racing all of which are pretty good and have demos in the eShop.

Some Wii Games you missed since the Wii U is 100% Backwards compatible.

[Metroid Prime Trilogy] ( http://www.amazon.com/Metroid-Prime-Trilogy-Collectors-Edition-Nintendo/dp/B002ATY7JE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842549&sr=8-1&keywords=metroid+prime+trilogy ) - Fantastic. Can't be stressed enough. 3 FANTASTIC 20+ hour games, and the motion / pointers controls are fantastic. This is how FPS's should be done.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and [or 2] (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Galaxy-2-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002BSA388/ref=pd_sim_vg_2) - Both are great, but if you're going to get [Super Mario 3D World] (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-3D-World-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B00DC7G0GG/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381844129&sr=1-1&keywords=mario+world) I can see waiting on them.

[MadWorld] ( http://www.amazon.com/MadWorld-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0019SY1D4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842523&sr=8-1&keywords=madworld ) - Short and fun, guilty pleasure kind of game. Think of the movie "The Running Man" done with a Sin City style and you're pretty close and it's under $10 now. Also for guilty pleasures I enjoyed House of the Dead: Overkill

[Red Steel 2] ( http://www.amazon.com/Red-Steel-2-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001TOMR0C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842459&sr=8-1&keywords=red+steel+2 ) - Fun game that probably would of sold better if they didn't call it "Red Steel 2", it's a LOT better than the 1st one and different enough that it could of been it's own IP.

Any Tiger Woods from 10 and up - I enjoyed them all, but once they added Wiimotion+ support it controlled much better.

[Punch-Out!!!] ( http://www.amazon.com/Punch-Out-Nintendo-Selects-Wii/dp/B005EIIBKY/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381842847&sr=1-1&keywords=punchout ) Has support for motion controls or old fashioned NES style. Fun game.

  • Mario Maker - $20
  • Hyrule Warriors - $20
  • MH3U - $5.60
  • Smash Wii U - $20
  • Splatoon - $20
  • Mario 3D World - $9.60
  • New Super Mario Bros. U - $12

Those are some mighty low desired price points... You say that you're using Gamestop as the baseline for those but there are 4 other retailers that also accept trade ins.

    Game | Best Buy| Amazon | Target | Walmart
    -SMM-| $27.00 | $35.17 | $28.50 | $30.61
    -HW-- | $27.00 | $21.47 | $11.35 | $22.98
    MH3U | $3.00 | ^^^^. $2.62 | $4.95 | $5.97
    Sm4sh | $23.00 | $23.51 | $11.75 | $23.49
    Splatoon | $23.00 | $29.96 | $23.75 | $21.36
    SM3DW | $17.00 | $18.76 | $11.75 | $21.00
    NSMBU | $14.00 | $20.04 | $8.10 | $12.57

I understand that you want to spend only $107.20 on 7 games but folks can get $162.65 if they shop around for the best values for their games. That being said the best prices I can find are:

  • SMM @ Best Buy (pre-owned) $49.99 OR Toys R Us $49.99 (new with promo code 10OFFWIIU)
  • Hyrule Warriors @ Target (new) $47.99
  • MH3U @ Gamestop (used) $14.99
  • Sm4sh @ Amazon (used) $45.99
  • Splatoon @ Amazon (used) $45.99
  • SM3DW @ Nintendo.com (refurbished) $30.00
  • NSMBU @ Nintendo.com (refurbished) $20.00

That comes to $254.95 which looks to be a bit more than you wanted to pay. Unfortunate for you that Target just had a B2G1 free on video games the previous week. Basically made all games 33% off. Aside from eBay and Craigslist, those are the best prices I can find on these items at the moment.
u/Crylaughing · 1 pointr/wiiu

It's the same price on Amazon as well:

http://www.amazon.com/Rayman-Legends-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B008AU4YEA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380747541&sr=8-2&keywords=rayman+legends

So, my question is, how good is the multiplayer? I am thinking of picking it up today to play with the gf. She isn't really a gamer, but she has had a lot of fun playing Kriby's Epic Yarn, and has complained it's a little slow for her. This looks much more fast paced and more problem-solvey than Kirby, which might lend well to our style of play.

EDIT: I bought it. If multiplayer is as fun as the single player, holy cow! TOTALLY worth the $40, maybe even worth the $60.

u/movieguy2121 · 1 pointr/wiiu

I'm assuming you are looking at the one for $193.92 here
I would suggest paying a little bit more and getting a $200 'refurbished' unit direct from Nintendo.
The console comes in better condition (most of these are probably new units that Nintendo took back from retailers when the Wii U went off the shelves), with all necessary cords and cables, and also includes a one year warranty from Nintendo.
In my opinion, Nintendo's refurbished consoles are the best way to buy a Wii U right now because you know exactly what you're getting and you get a great warranty package with it. If you would rather order from Amazon, the only way you can find more about what you're buying is if you contact the seller or actually order it. Amazon has a pretty good return policy so if you are missing something, I'm sure you could just send it back.

  1. The whole story relation thing is kind of blurry right now, since Los Angeles exists in X's story, but Chronicles didn't take place on Earth. If you want to learn the story, check out Chuggaaconroy's ongoing Let's Play. It'll explain the whole story.

2)X is a sequel, as far as we know. There are certain things that are directly related, and some that are completely unrelated.

  2. Chronicles is great, but I would wait for it to be released on N3DS. Wii version goes for ~$100 on Amazon.

4)I'd wager there'll be no amiibo support. Have fun!

http://amzn.com/B0050SWBAE

Surprisingly Pikmin 3 is the most, but $39 isn't bad for a new release and all are under the $59 price point. I use Amazon for the going rate because who in their right mind would pay $59.99 at walmart or best buy for something they can get from Amazon with free shipping and no tax for less?

u/[deleted] · 4 pointsr/wiiu

Don't buy it they make it look the same for a reason. Grab a Nintendo licensed third-party Wii U Controller, or just shell out the extra 20 bucks for the pro. You can also use a classic pro controller for a lot of games.

http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Commander-Wii-U-Nintendo/dp/B00ANHBJBY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1406537466&sr=8-2&keywords=wii+u+controllers - This is a cheap controller by Nyko for Wii U i can't speak for it myself but the reviews seem OKAY.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00BRA9R5G/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=1406537516&sr=8-1 - This is an Afterglow controller, again i can't speak for it myself but i DO have an afterglow X360 controller which works perfectly.

If i was you, find a deal at target/wal-mart/amazon for a pro controller, it has an insane amount of battery life, and really it's just a fantastic controller. Also the wii-mote and nunchuk is used for a lot of games as well so maybe think about picking that up.

u/nick_brick2 · 1 pointr/wiiu

I have found a great alternative to the official Rocketfish Wii U bag, if you can find one at Marshalls or TJ Maxx it should cost around $25 (unfortunately $55 on Amazon), and I also picked up the Gamepad controller protector on Amazon for $15. This combo works really well together, and you can fit all necessary components, as well as 10+ games and 4 Wii controllers easy!

The GamePad comes with the console and you must have one. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. The Pro Controller is optional. In multiplatform games it's generally really helpful because it's more comfortable than the GamePad. So, for example, the game Darksiders: Warmastered Edition - The GamePad has no added functionality. The screen just shows what the TV shows. The Pro Controller works just as well. However in games like ZombiU, the GamePad is used for inventory management and other things. The GamePad is the way to go in that case. The Pro Controller is really good but not useful in every case. For playing Wii games, you will need a Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The Wii U Pro Controller will not work for Wii Games. However, the Wii has its own Pro Controller. It works for many games. You can buy it here. The list of Wii games that support the Pro Controller can be found here.. (The Wikipedia page says Classic Controller, but the Classic Controller and the Pro Controller are the same. The Pro Controller is a more comfortable version of the Classic Controller.)

u/minizanz · 2 pointsr/wiiu

all n64 vc games on the virtual wii need the classic controller pro. you can use the official ones, hori battle pads, or the pdp ones. if you install nintendont on the vwii you can use wiiU pro controllers, ps3, or ps4 controllers or the usb game cube adapters. all of them on the wiiu require a full pro controller of any gen (so non wiimote)

|

you can also inject roms so long as you own one game with that emulator. so if a game is not on the wiiU but you have it you can use caffeine on the current firmware to hack any rom into virtual console.

|

edit- there is also this guy from mayflash that will make your gamecube controllers plug into a wiimote and work as classic controller pro https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Nintendo-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Wii/dp/B00BS520SG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1469665411&sr=8-3&keywords=mayflash+gamecube+adapter , mayflash also sells this guy that is better than the nintendo smash game cube adapter https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Port/dp/B00RSXRLUE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469665411&sr=8-1&keywords=mayflash+gamecube+adapter

edit2- if you plan on playing online you need the lan adapter as well, there are lots of 3rd party for that as well since you only need the same chipset (ASIX AX88772)

u/Kooreth · 0 pointsr/wiiu

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is not for everybody, due to its difficulty, and pace, but if you are one of the blessed few who can give it a few hours to draw you in, you will have a dirt cheap game with hundreds of hours of gameplay.

http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Hunter-Ultimate-Nintendo-Wii-u/dp/B009EWHKAI/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1420068349&sr=1-1&keywords=monster+hunter

If you have friends, it's a great multiplayer co op game (online, not same screen co op).

u/dragon-mom · 1 pointr/wiiu

Haven't used that one, but this one is generally considered the best AAIK. Longer cable than Nintendo's and works easy on PC.

u/81toog · 1 pointr/wiiu

To save some money on MK8 you can do what I did and go to Target and have them price match Amazon's current deal on the game. That's $48.61 for MK8 and the free Wind Waker download, great deal.

u/Z-Ninja · 1 pointr/wiiu
  1. Your best bet for Wii remote charging with the sleeve on will be induction charging stations like this 2 remote station or this 4 remote station. There are many more options, and you should look for one you like.

  2. You can buy straight from Nintendo or pick one from Amazon, but I recommend reading reviews first.

  3. The official Nintendo high capacity battery is currently out of stock on their website but available for way too much money on Amazon. I have heard good things about the official battery, but nothing about 3rd party batteries.

  4. Depends on where you're located. The US basically has nothing good.
u/LinusAmrev · 8 pointsr/wiiu

Suggestion: NSMBU is only $250 on ebay and Wind Waker game is $41 on amazon...buy both and you still save $9 compared to just buying the Wind Waker bundle.

u/KittehKatBar · 2 pointsr/wiiu

I think most of the frustration can be from confusion. Keep in mind that gamepad + a few wii remotes will cover you for almost everything. They work with virtually all Wii U games (good option for multiplayer), all wii games, and most wii VC. Though some wii VC do require classic controllers, however it is really uncomfortable for long term use. I myself only use it if I have to. The wii u pro controller is comfortable and nice to use but it is not required, and isn't as versatile as the wii remote.

There are a few places to save money on the controllers. The Wii Remote Plus/Wii Nunchuk refurbished from nintendo is a good deal, and comes in black to match the deluxe wii u. Also, get the 'japan' versions of the other controllers from amazon. They work exactly the same, but much cheaper.

u/brightblueinky · 4 pointsr/wiiu

I'm not sure, since it wasn't mine (or hers, a friend of theirs let her borrow it). I think it was this one, though. http://www.amazon.com/PDP-Wired-Fight-Pad-nintendo-u/dp/B00LSBNSAO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417195996&sr=8-1&keywords=yoshi+gamecube+controller

I guess it's technically a Pro controller shaped like a Gamecube controller, but it seemed to work pretty well.

u/IGChris · 2 pointsr/wiiu

I got the Tomee one as well. It works pretty great. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ATJIOTG/

I personally got the PDP Silicon Jacket + Tomee Carrying Case + Hori Screen Protector and have been reasonably happy with the combination of the 3. The quality of PDP jacket does seem to be a bit inconsistent from the Amazon reviews, but a few people have posted tips on there about getting it to fit better. If it seems absolutely terrible, maybe you should just return it though?

u/Jonocade · 1 pointr/wiiu

well since you said it MH3U is about $24 on amazon which is a great deal

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009EWHKAI/ref=gno_cart_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2OUBUNXBRLM1J

Also I would recommend Little Inferno and Runner 2

u/ozzsoad · 1 pointr/wiiu

Thanks, but I already have all the major retail titles on disc, although I will finally get to redeem my Pikmin 3 code I got from buying Mario Kart 8. :)

The hard drive I got. I also got a Y Shape USB to help power it.

u/reali-tglitch · 2 pointsr/wiiu

If you want 3rd parties, check out the Afterglow controllers. I find them to be more comfortable for some games, and they are cheaper. PDP makes some decent quality stuff.

While unavailable online, they can usually be found in Gamestops and places like Sears, WalMart, Target, etc.

u/GallifreyanRavenclaw · 1 pointr/wiiu

$39.99 new on Amazon w/ free shipping, and $29.69 used through Amazon Warehouse Deals, so if you add $5 to your order you get free shipping.

u/jordonph · 9 pointsr/wiiu

Haven't seen this posted, stumbled upon it on Amazon while searching for the PDP controllers. It looks a lot better than the PDP ones and I trust Hori a lot more than PDP. It says officially licensed by Nintendo as well.

Also has a Nov 21 release date listed, more evidence for that being the release date for smash bros?

u/mxwlln · 5 pointsr/wiiu

No, it's in the living room/TV area but we live in an apartment, which isn't small, but the living room is next to the bedroom. No issues whatsover. It does cut off if I'm in the other room which is further away from the living room.

My other tips regarding the Gamepad would be to buy a storage case like this, this awesome screen protector which has the best application processes I have ever seen and maybe extra styluses, though I haven't done that. The case and screen protector will help a lot against dust and scuffs.

I am sure you've looked into Wii U data storage options?

EDIT: The screen protector seems to be out of stock for now. You can look for a different one but I can only vouch for that one because I use it.

u/fiddle_n · 2 pointsr/wiiu

You keep saying $30 game. It's not a $30 game! Just because it comes as part of the MK8 promotion, doesn't make it $30. Otherwise NSMBU, SOnic Lost Worlds, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3 U, etc. are all $30 games too, since they are also part of the MK8 promotion.

Yes, it's a remake, but to say it's just a port is a little unfair. They completely changed the inventory screen, added Off TV play, added gyroscope controls for item usage, and changed the game here and there as well (Tingle Tuner - Tingle Bottle, reduced Triforce quest, addition of Swift Sail, etc.)

EDIT: RRP of Wind Waker HD on Amazon - $49.99

u/Xenowait · 1 pointr/wiiu

I got the Amazon Basics Camera Back Pack and it holds it all.http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-DSLR-Laptop-Backpack-interior/dp/B00CF5OGP8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427151907&sr=8-2&keywords=amazon+basics+camera+backpack
I also got the Tomee GamePad case to protect it while in the backpack. http://www.amazon.com/Tomee-Wii-Protective-GamePad-Nintendo-U/dp/B00ATJIOTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427151953&sr=8-1&keywords=tomee+gamepad+case
I'm a little OCD and also got myself spare GP and WiiU power transformers so I don't need to disconnect any power behind the entertainment center

u/Bozzaholic · 1 pointr/wiiu

Yeah. For some reason Amazon France & Germany occasionally do some really good deals on official high capacity batteries. Amazon Italy currently have one on sale for approx $25

It really bugs me to play with a remote. Even the tablet is annoying to play with. If you and your friends are used to Melee, I would buy a GameCube adaptor (this one is only $15 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Port/dp/B00RSXRLUE/) and a couple of controllers.

u/souffle-etc · 1 pointr/wiiu

If you want a good aftermarket controller, get the generic brand Classic Pro Controller. If you want to make sure you get the official Nintendo version, that one's Here..

The Classic Pro is fantastic for what you want to do, since GC controllers are not yet compatible. Personally, at this stage I'd rather just wait two months so I can play using a GC controller, but keep in mind that it has not been announced whether the GC adapter will work in the Wii menu through the Wii U.

u/Futant55 · 3 pointsr/wiiu

Let's just use amazon prices:

Wii U Deluxe w/ NSMBU & NSLU - $293.87

Wii U Pro COntroller - $40.99

Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition - $15.99

Assassin's Creed 4 - $25.49

Madden 13 - $11.99

Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - $41.40

Super Mario 3D World - $50.66

Assassin's Creed 3 - $14.61

007 Legends - $9.95

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze - $43.99

Black Ops 2 $12.49

ZombiU - $14.99

That brings us to a total of $576.42.

He could have bought the games on discount from Toys R Us which has many discounted games plus buy one get one 60% off.

Also could have gotten the buy 2 get 1 free at Target a week ago. YOu could also price match that sale, all though many stores were hesitant to do that.

For future reference, the weekly noob thread above is a great place to ask these types of questions. Your question is a little confusing, as I do not know what you mean by premium and deluxe pack promotions? There is a "Basic" White Wii U w/ 8GB of memory and there is a "Deluxe" Black Wii U w/ 32 GB of memory. There is only one promotion going on besides Club Nintendo, and that is the Digital Deluxe Promotion that the OP was describing, which is a promotion available to anyone that is buying digital games on the Deluxe Wii U.

Amazon has "world" version of Chronicles for $59 right now. It works with US Wii's and Wii U's. I picked it up for $52 a few months ago and it was definitely worth it.

u/marioman63 · 3 pointsr/wiiu

yes. wii shop channel is fully functional on the wii mode. maybe you are unaware, but you can transfer any vc and wiiware titles from a wii console you may have. but if you mention buying a wiimote, then i would assume you dont have a wii.

just remeber a classic controller or a classic controller pro (NOT a pro controller) is needed to play n64 games in wii mode.

u/zeldaman · 3 pointsr/wiiu

Rayman Legends is a real pretty game if you want something in the 2D platformer realm.

u/bve21 · 1 pointr/wiiu

Good to know!
The Yoshi pad is on for $20 right now!

u/coffeewithgames · 1 pointr/wiiu

Amazon just matched it if it helps any:
Rayman Legends for $39.99

u/Rickrogue · 1 pointr/wiiu

Amazon has for $20.49 for those with Prime and 2 day free shipping... 18 left at time of posting

*edit..not prime eligible =(

u/SGT3386 · 4 pointsr/wiiu

Would it just make sense to use the Classic Controller Pro? I cant justify buying a controller for a single purpose. I hope it is compatible.

u/vitaminainspector · 2 pointsr/wiiu

I don’t know about USB headphones but there’s an option to output audio through the analog output so if you have an analog cable (like from a wii) you can use one of these or something like it to adapt that to a 3.5mm headphone jack and just use that instead for your headphones. It’s not USB but it’s the only thing I could think of.

u/PhinixPhire · 1 pointr/wiiu

This thing looks pretty cool

I just ordered one. I'll try to remember to let you know if it works out or not.

u/maximumzero · 2 pointsr/wiiu

Keep in mind that everything lacking a "Wii" logo in the top center of the controller is a knockoff and is probably garbage.

If you want a Classic Controller, you want to buy one of these two:

Black

White

u/MajinKratos · 1 pointr/wiiu

Does anyone know how much is shipping if you would order this through Nintendo? It's $51.99 on Amazon but it had Prime Shipping.

US Amazon Link

u/PurpleTittyKitty · 5 pointsr/wiiu

Here's a nifty little item that might work for you, if you have a way to use component cables instead of hdmi/dvi conversion You could just plug your headphones directly into the wii u sound output. Hopefully your headphones have a volume control, but if not you could just get one of those, too

u/Marioysikax · 1 pointr/wiiu

I remember Amazon had US version which had controller: http://www.amazon.com/Super-Smash-Bros-Bundle-Wii-nintendo/dp/B00M35YLLY

BUT EU version only reads "GameCube controller adapter included" and no image of controller or info of controller at front.

Reverse Google image search got me larger version of image and if you look close enough to right side it says "Nintendo GameCube Controller (sold seperately)"

http://static.nintendomaine.com/2014/10/super_smash_bros_for_wiiu_pack_gamecube_controller_adapter_for_wiiu.jpg

I just hope they don't just do that and be like "it's 99€" :\

u/Boreras · 1 pointr/wiiu

All these stories have the same source: they are completely based on the Amazon UK numbers. Hence they all have the same problem in the price drop. Only one article mentions it

> And for the people who are saying it was because of the price drop and not the Xbox One reveal, that’s not necessarily the case. There have been multiple price drops in the UK and sales never spiked on Amazon like this. So it can’t be just because of the price drop. If anything, it’s a nice combination of both.

But it hasn't happened on the American Wii U set. Or the Canadian, German, French, Japanese Amazon, etc.

(I've now done more research than all those sites combined, which is pretty pathetic.)

u/PositiveJosh · 2 pointsr/wiiu

I have one of these. It's a LOT cheaper, and it should give you more battery life than the high-capacity battery, to boot: http://www.amazon.com/Uboost-Wii-U-Nintendo/dp/B009Q5XGO2

Plus, you can use it to keep your screen brightness on max without being plugged in.

"New Donkey Kong platformer"

Looks like you'll be buying one this year then.

u/what_other_account · 2 pointsr/wiiu

So far I've only played Xenoblade on the gamepad. All Wii games still use the Wiimote. None will let me use the WiiU gamepad. I'm currently using the original classic controller.

u/baf1 · 1 pointr/wiiu

Why would I want to pay $70 for that?

WWHD is good and all, but it's a $45 game at most, in my humble opinion of course. NFS MW is rarely more than $20 on literally any other platform...I got it for $5 on PC during an Origin sale.

u/boomerz87 · 4 pointsr/wiiu

This

Edit: Almost forgot, since the Wii U requires extrernal hard drives to have its own power source, for the model above you would need something like this which adds extra juice. Otherwise go with a external with its own brick.

u/Antiform3 · 1 pointr/wiiu

Uno

Dos

They aren't realistic prices, some games are just inflated out the wazzoo on Amazon.

u/andraes · 1 pointr/wiiu

Go get a mayflash one, or any other knock off. They work just a well (if not better: PC mode).

u/99Silver · 1 pointr/wiiu

There are list of recommend ext hdd. But if the hard drive has no external power (I'm not sure they even sell powered externals anymore) make sure you get a y-cable. The wiiu won't supply enough power to the non powered hard drives. Y-cables are around $10 or less on Amazon.

u/Halfazedninja · 16 pointsr/wiiu

I bought this instead. It's been working great for me. When your battery is running low just hit the button on the pack and it plays and charges at the same time. You can put it on the docking station too and it charges both the pack and the game pad.

u/MemeTroubadour · 1 pointr/wiiu

You need an adapter. The official one is hard to get because Smash players buy fuck tonnes of them, but you have other options such as the Mayflash adapter which is cheaper and compatible with PC, but apparently not without issues.

What game do you wanna play, by the way ? 'cause I should warn you that GameCube controllers are not compatible with most games on Wii U. Only Smash and apparently some Virtual Console titles.

u/canitoy · 3 pointsr/wiiu
  • The digital download is going to be about 15 GB. If you buy a Deluxe edition of the Wii U you'll be just fine. But there is no real difference in load times between digital or disc.

  • You don't need internet during play. Just for updates and online games.

  • The adaptor is coming with the bundle. It will be available later, but right now is the only way to get it.
u/Flare-Vortex · 5 pointsr/wiiu

On a related note: Amazon updated the picture for the Smash Bros. 4 Wii U GC+GC Adapter bundle. It shows an actual box now, with not only the amiibo logo, but the E10+ rating too.

u/manbearpig304 · 2 pointsr/wiiu

You can use this cord and any pair of computer speakers that you may already have

https://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-inches-Stereo-Splitter-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B0009JFF7A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1483138962&sr=8-2&keywords=female+rca+to+headphone

You might have to change a setting in the wii u menu to get the sound to output to the audio jacks instead of the hdmi though

u/frank_n_bean · 1 pointr/wiiu

This is what I did as well... significantly cheaper than the US version and they're the exact same (except for the packaging having Japanese text all over it).

The black one is here for $24.90.

The white one is here for $28.

Prices are at the time of me posting this, of course.

u/nolaredditor · 1 pointr/wiiu

Always go legit for controllers.

$20.xx on Amazon

u/regbarclay30 · 1 pointr/wiiu

Target currently has the genuine Nintendo pro controller for $41.99 or you can get a Japanese Import one on [Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii-Controller-Japanese-Version-Black/dp/B009AP23NI/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1482789261&sr=1-5&keywords=wii+u+pro+controller#customerReviews) for $42.90 (It's just the same as a US one but the instructions are in Japanese).

Alternatively you could get a [Wii classic controller] (https://www.amazon.com/Wii-Classic-Controller-Pro-Japanese-Version/dp/B002C1AUP0/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1482789583&sr=1-3&keywords=wii+classic+controller) and attach it to your wiimote as you do the nunchuk.

u/Enkaybee · 5 pointsr/wiiu

Grip handles? There were two models of the classic controller: the Classic Controller and the Classic Controller Pro. Those grips aren't detachable.

u/floflo81 · 2 pointsr/wiiu

Nope it's a bit more complex than that.

List of "Classic" controllers:

u/Malorajan · 1 pointr/wiiu

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TLTBN0

New official Wii Classic Controller Pros go for around $50 online and since they're out of production it's very unlikely you'll find one in a store.

u/metroidgus · 3 pointsr/wiiu

you can also try a classic controller since you already have a wiimote

u/swordmalice · 1 pointr/wiiu

From my knowledge, you cannot use the adapter with the WiiU when it is in Wii mode. Your only other option would be the Wii Classic Controller or Wii Classic Controller Pro

u/tapetum_lucidum · 25 pointsr/wiiu

I saw a post a few days back about GameStop having Wii U for $99 USD. New Wii Us are very expensive.

u/Jackie_Chiles_Esq · 2 pointsr/wiiu

and the hori pads they run as classic controller pro controllers then which is compatible with N64.

u/lolzerker · 1 pointr/wiiu

Are you talking about this one?

u/JuanBatman · 4 pointsr/wiiu

Amazon says "Take on a more challenging difficulty level" on the list of features, but that's literally all we know. http://www.amazon.com/The-Legend-Zelda-nintendo-wii-u/dp/B002I0GF72/

u/jagrove425 · 4 pointsr/wiiu

Ordered the cable here.

The drives listed as compatible on Nintendo's website are all discontinued at this point, and the external USB drives that are readily available today are USB 3.0, which the Wii U doesn't natively support. This adapter allows you to utilize both the rear ports to provide enough power to the drive.

u/MonochromeTyrant · 3 pointsr/wiiu

No. You'll want to buy a PDP wired controller that plugs into the Wiimote if you want that functionality.

u/OliverNodel · 1 pointr/wiiu

I bought mine from Amazon UK. I believe it was ~$40 after shipping/conversion. I just got tired of waiting for it to be restocked in the US, and it's been more than worth it.

u/alsm2090 · 4 pointsr/wiiu

This is more of what you should get.

If you don't like extra wires, you could get this instead.

u/Freddicus · 2 pointsr/wiiu

I don't think it was ever release day, but I could be mistaken.

Amazon reference: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008AU4YEA

u/CityOfChamps09 · 3 pointsr/wiiu

Get one of these and your Wii U will recognize and format your drive for you. Then, make sure you transfer all your shit off of your flash drive onto your HDD before it's too late.

u/shigmin · 1 pointr/wiiu

I have one of these https://i.ytimg.com/vi/CDj3la5Tg0c/maxresdefault.jpg

PDP Afterglow
https://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-Pro-Controller-Wii-U-nintendo/dp/B00BRA9R5G/177-2450122-9465643?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

Pros: It has decent analogue triggers. Battery life not bad.
Cons: the rubber on the thumbsticks will probably tear a bit.
I don't use mine that often, but Mario Kart / Smash mulitiplayer has worn out the left thumbstick and it flaps a bit now, which is annoying.

It's not a terrible controller - good if you prefer analogue triggers, but I would recommend the Pro Controller if you can afford it, you definitely get what you pay for: solid, and insane battery life. I only bought this one (PDP) because I wanted two Pros and the only had one left in the shop.

u/JiminyWillikerz · 1 pointr/wiiu

This would work if you already have a Wii Remote. But no, you would only be able to use Nintendo controllers and cheap knock offs... no PC controllers on Wii U

u/ReneOv · 2 pointsr/wiiu

The reply below is misleading, and in fact those controllers do exist and are official Nintendo products. They function as Classic Controllers. Here are some Amazon links:

Hori Battle Pad (I personally like this one better.)

PDP Fight Pad

u/terminamorte · 1 pointr/wiiu

Well that's a little harsh. I was basing it off amazons blurb

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00EZPU0E2?pc_redir=1413321999&robot_redir=1

Which is my bad. Should not have ordered from Nintendo directly
