  • up your protien intake.

  • stay hydrated.

  • include a multivitamin for the next little while.

  • glucosamine, condriton, & msm supplement (i notice it pretty quickly when i leave this out of my routine for more than a couple days).

  • treat yourself at lunch/dinner somehow. a cold york patty at the end of lunch on a hot day is fucking amazing, btw.

  • these massage cups are prety nice, even if you only use them on the bottom of your feet after you've been standing all day. (i'm not affiliated, just a satisfied ex-massage student).

  • replace anticipating how sore you might be with how damn nice it's going to feel to peel your socks off, shower off all the sweat, and put your feet up. anticipating pain makes it worse, fact.

  • gently stretch while you're still warm at lunch and dinner breaks.

  • try to make a game of your work. alternatively, try to have fun competing with yourself or others gently. occupy your mind by try different methods to see if you come up with something that works better.

You're self-described as young so let me help out a bit here.

You're going to have to have a lot harder conversations in your working career than just letting your boss know that you can't cover a shift that you weren't scheduled for.

This is GREAT practice for that time in a low-risk environment. It also is a great opportunity to be very polite but firm about when you do not want to cover a shift.

I remember being nervous about it too when I was younger, but this issue you have is very very low on the list of hard conversations to have with your boss.

Your boss might even try to manipulate you into saying yes, and learning how to avoid this is another great skill you can learn.

Working with Monsters. I recently read this because my company is filthy with Psychopaths.

I copied this from the Amazon page:

Does the following person sound familiar? At the workplace, he/she intimidates fellow workers; exhibits impulsive behavior; demonstrates a lack of remorse; and is glib and superficially charming. Workplace psychopaths exist in a variety of institutions. They are individuals who manipulate their way through life and leave an indelible mark on both their victims and society. They are destructive men and women—cunning, self-centered, ruthless, and terrifying. What motivates these individuals? How can coworkers protect themselves from these "monsters" who hide behind a veneer of respectability? This guide provides a fascinating insight into the mind of the workplace psychopath. Drawing on studies and research in forensic psychology, it shows how to recognize and manage a workplace psychopath

Check out the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section if this isn't exactly what you want.

Also you may want to cross post to /r/psychology and /r/IOPsychology.

I feel for you. People like that are the scum or the earth. Finding the right information on how to deal with them will help you persevere until something better comes along. Good luck!

The point would be to make him consistently fine with the way you do things.

But anyway, I just finished up this book and it might help you with getting your boss to be clear about what he wants http://www.amazon.com/How-Work-Just-About-Anyone/dp/0684855275

Try this book. You basically have to sit down with the person and nicely remove all the barriers for why they have not done that thing. Then set a time line, one week? Meet in one week and review progress.

You might find that the person doesn't actually know how to update a web site.

Those are the ones I've bought last and are the best I've had personally. I've seen them freeze things that weren't frozen.

I pull on a pair of these at work when people get too chatty and they soon get the message.

Get one of those mirrors you can stick on your monitor. It will let you see behind you. Here's a link to one on amazon. I bet you can find them cheaper at an office supply store. Sorry for crappy formatting; I'm on mobile.
