SanDisk Ultra 32GB. If it works in your cam and records properly, you shouldn't have an issue.

I had an issue where various Transcend cards of mine wouldn't show up, would record a few minutes, etc.. This card worked fine in the cam, so I kept constant with the models as I scaled out.

Use Xiaomi Dafang Hacks as that repo is updated within the last 3 days, OpenIPC a few months, and that's what it was based on.

Format the card to FAT32. Make sure to do that. NTFS, etc. will not work.

Once formatted, clear the lot, and download the demo.bin.

Direct Download: https://github.com/EliasKotlyar/Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks/raw/master/hacks/cfw/wyzecam_v2/cfw-1.1.bin

Rename that to 'demo.bin' and have NOTHING ELSE ON THE CARD. FAT32 + demo.bin by itself.

Insert card into camera with demo.bin. Hold setup before giving it USB power. Keep holding it. Plug it back in. Keep holding setup for 10 seconds after so it flashes.

After 2-3 minutes it'll reflash with an older stock firmware that will allow you to do step 2. Wait 3-5 minutes, and power down the camera.

Re-insert the card to the PC / Mac, and copy the full contents of firmware_mod to the SD card after editing /config/wpa_supplicant.conf.dist to include your SSID (wifi name) and PSK (password).

Make sure to rename it also to wpa_supplicant.conf.

After copying, make sure it's not within a folder on the SD card, but populates the root folder.

Re-insert the card, no need to press any buttons, turn on the CAM and you should find the camera on your network and can login to the interface as https://IP

Full Instructions

It's working great, pushing 430-450KB/s at 20-50% CPU and around 48MB used. Turned off audio and motion tracking to give the CPU a break.

Now I love this camera.

thanks ... I thought about that.
but the outlet is on the side and I don't have enough clearance. My light is one of those recessed lights. I need an extension because the wyzecam plug is pretty big.

also considered this but not sure if it'd fit

Amazon. It was fairly inexpensive and they seem to be working out great. I have two cameras; both using these covers and mounts.

Okay, thanks! I'm brainstorming how to do it for my own carport. I was actually thinking about using one of these on one of the floodlights and hooking it up there....

I don't have the measurements of the Wyze wall plug but that doesn't look any smaller.

OP could replace the wall outlet with one that has USB ports or I'd suggest getting one like this.

That's what I found. No idea if it's any good but people seem to like them for 3d printers

The windows don't allow IR lights to go out and get reflected back into the camera lens. You can turn off the cameras night vision mode and put something like this outdoors to light up the area at night.

GE 54276 Polarized Handy Outlet Plug https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002DN6QX2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

This is what I'm using. Works flawlessly.
If you want to keep the light as well, you can use this instead:

I've just started using these SanDisk High Endurance Cards: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P14QHB7/

It seemed like high endurance was the key...

Maybe something like this

I’m in Canada (Amazon.ca) and we seem to pay more for everything. Price is CDN. I seen a few branded under a different names on Amazon.comfor much cheaper. Also you may not need 12 Leds, they have a 6 LED one. I wanted it to reach to the back of my property so i went with 12. If you look at the top left of the second picture, you can see it.

Here is one of the re-branded ones on Amazon.com. Specs are identical.

You can use these... https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Socket-Amazon-Google-Assistant/dp/B07CC9S4MS They also are 10% off if you clip the coupon on that page, and just get a different USB power plug that would work better for you.

But, since you said you want USB integrated, this might work better, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G78YSQS but I just don't like combo units.

u/Mordac85 · 5 pointsr/wyzecam

Looks like it’s the JC model but there are tons to suit your needs

u/RedToby · 1 pointr/wyzecam

Change it if it’s not too late. You want this one or one that specifically says “endurance”

Wyze Cam Wall Mount Cover for Wyzecam Ismart Spot, 360 Degrees Protective Adjustable Indoor and Outdoor Wall and Ceiling Mount with Case for Wyze 1080p by, 3 Pack, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DW8G22H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uQzpDbQM36QVX

I use these. I mount the cams under the eves, and haven’t had an issue. I live in upstate NY. (Nowhere near the city).

u/ryny24 · 2 pointsr/wyzecam

There is one where the LENS is covered. I have a few of these.

https://www.amazon.com/SEEKONE-Protective-Waterproof-Protection-Adjustable/dp/B07TMZ8PJ6/ref=sxts_sxwds-bia

But one of them on a roof in Manhattan, the USB connector still got wet and would not stay on I have soldered the 5V directly to fix.

Now, that one rocks back and forth a lot. I think the plastic where it pivots is wearing down from the wind/weather.

u/wickedpixel1221 · 4 pointsr/wyzecam

I'm using one of these in a spot where there OEM adapter would stick out too far. Kinda pricy (compared to the cost of the camera!) but I already had it.

u/iLoveSev · 1 pointr/wyzecam

Here is one. You can control the USB or plug independently using the app it seems and works with all alexa, google home, ifttt etc.

It will turn it off in a way that nothing will be recorded. It will be only waiting for the on signal again, that's about it. You can various things or various actions at the same time too using shortcuts.

u/ZenZenAgainZen · 4 pointsr/wyzecam

I have all sizes. 32GB, 64GB, 128GB... Just got two 128GB cards for two new cams. I even put a 200GB card in as a pinch once. I've had no issues.

I have these in V2s and a pan:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWN9Q99

and these in a couple other V2s:

https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Microsdhc-Class10-SP032GBSTHBU1V20AE/dp/B01LZ8YF7U

I had the samsung ones "fail" a few firmwares back, but a reformat and firmware update magically restored them from the dead ;)

u/AdoptedTerror · 1 pointr/wyzecam

In the middle of trying this. I have a V2 camera with a micro USB to barrel DC power plug( https://www.amazon.com/Conwork-2-Pack-Jacket-Adapter-Cellphone/dp/B01G6EBGWO/ ) connected to the existing CCTV power cable. The other end I have a USB 2.0 Male to DC Power Cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P5CSH3P) going from the normal included Wyze USB power/charger to the CCTV power cable.

The camera works fine bypassing the ~30' CCTV power cable that's already ran through the attic. When connected to the CCTV cable it gets power, but the video has issues (tearing, weird colors, etc.) and usually connection problems (I confirmed the Wifi is not the issue at the location as well). I tested the CCTV power cable, and it shows 5.1V at the camera connection point. Not sure what to look for next, maybe will try to splice to micro USB but not sure that will help at this point. Anything else to look for?

Until they nail down what in the firmware causes the random dirt naps, if you are real worried about it get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Woods-50007WD-24-Hour-Digital-Polarized/dp/B005WQIDHY (They were on a stupid-good sale a week ago so they are currently low on stock, I paid $7.50 for 4 of them). Just set it to reboot once a day and you should be good.
