It's not that Japan simply "likes" manga better. Anime is prohibitely expensive to consume, it's made for hardcore fans only. Manga is far more accessible.

I ordered them off of amazon Japan! The one downside is you have to have a region free blu-ray player because they won't work on standard US players. The Japanese BD/DVD doesn't have Japanese subtitles according to Amazon, anime BD/DVDs usually doesn't have any subtitles at all.
