There is no stove in your suite, keep that in mind when planning meals. There is a community kitchen on the 1st floor that you can use, I NEVER used it during my year in residence. Laundry is also on the 1st floor I believe, I always did mine off-site. If you've done the virtual tour on the Residence website, it's smaller than it appears, you don't have a lot of kitchen space. Rooms are a decent size, I felt mostly comfortable in mine. You're free to rearrange your living space, so long as you put it back EXACTLY as it was when you arrived. I attempted to bring a futon for an additional place to sit for my room, since all you have is your bed and chair for seats. Additionally, you MUST sign in your guests, and can have a maximum of 2 guests at a time.

Rooms are given inspected prior to you moving in, and on the residence portal you're required to agree with the things that are reported. A recommendation is to take photos and upload them to some sort of cloud storage service like Dropbox or Drive so that you have a record of the state of the upon your arrival.

Last year we had a total of five fire alarm incidents which required the entire building to evacuate. Each time it was NOT an emergency, but you are still expected to evacuate regardless. One of those was at 4AM.

Visit Staples or Amazon for a 4-month calendar and put your class schedule, assignment due dates, and any other important dates on it once you're set up in your room. Being able to see your entire semester at a glance and know what's coming up soon is crucial to your success.

Those are just some of the negatives I experienced in residence living, but I'm also a little bit older than the average person who was in residence, so that played into account for my feelings towards the inconveniences. The proximity to the school is fantastic and makes it easy to get to class on time, especially in those snowy days, and there will be snowy days.

Get your One-Card and get your bus-pass stamp with it, learn the bus routes for the area, know how to get to some important places like your bank, the mall, grocery stores (there is a grocery bus, I forget when it runs), and any other place you think you might want to know how to get to.

If you've got any other questions, I can do my best to answer them.
