Thanks for the response! Just to clarify, would something like the Crosley only damage records when used heavily, or is it just really bad on the records in general? I can't imagine my fiancee will turn this into a hobby; it'll probably just be something she'd love to have on during lazy saturdays or while company is over. So she's what I would consider a very casual listener. If only a small amount of usage wouldn't damage the records, then I think she wouldn't mind (and would probably prefer that I save the money anyways). I totally understand, however, if you think that kind of player is crap though. I think a player like this one looks very classy, and might be better. I'm unsure. If you know of any good products that look similar to this, I would love to check them out.

I couldn't find any decent quality ones in my area, closest one that looked cleaned up was about a hour away but I managed to find some turntables that interested me on Amazon

As a first timer, I’ve spent the last 10 months buying both classic and new vinyl albums, embarking on my first RSD stakeout, etc. But now I’ve discovered this brand on the do-not-buy list in this forum. Have I been torturing the albums I’ve been playing? Do I need to be looking at replacement parts? A new TT?

Hey yall - Pretty new to vinyl (and reddit), was wondering if someone could answer some questions?
For reference, I have this turntable
I've seen 1byone on a "Do not buy" list here on /r/vinyl, which worries me. Greatly. With this in mind, hopefully my questions can be answered.

  1. Most importantly, is this a decent turntable? Again, I'm new to all of this, and I think it sounds okay, I just need to know if it'll eat through my records.

  2. How do I know if my tonearm is balanced/set up correctly? Again, I think it sounds fine, but I'm not an audiophile, and I also don't want it wearing out my records.

  3. What steps should I take to properly set up my turntable? It lacks any type of counterweight or anything similar.

  4. Finally, I have a limited edition blue vinyl of Radiohead's OKNOTOK - Given it's limited edition, I want to keep this in the best shape possible. How should I do that? I'm looking for little to no deterioration as I listen to it, so I'm willing to do almost anything other than not listen to it.

Hello friends. I've been a vinyl collector and listener for about 2 years now, and I'm finally looking to move towards a more advanced set-up. Here's my current player: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K9ER5L8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

Is it possible for these two pieces to work without any other parts? I would love to hear anything you guys know about these products or any other advice you have for a newby like myself. Ideally, I would put my budget at around $400-450, but if I needed a receiver, etc. I'd bump it to $600-650.

This is the one i bought. Ive hsd it for about 5 months now and i love it. I know next to nothing about turntables tho, but the sound quality is pretty good and its super easy to use :)
