I can't recommend cases as I haven't tried any. Other then a travel case just for having something to chuck it into on the go, I got the PDP case which looks nice and simple on the outside, however, the inside sucks as theres not much to hold the system. Just a net which I feel compressed the analog sticks too much.

However you may want to look into the silicon joycon covers, a lot of them have some extra meat on the bottom/back of the joycons, which would prevent some hand cramping. These are only for handheld mode though, and do not work in the comfort grip. I have pretty average sized hands, and the bare system in handheld mode does tend to cramp. However, a lot of complaints state that the extra 1/2inch or so of material on the surface of the joycons makes the buttons uncomfortably flat....so YMMV.

2 for 8$, and the application went well. I re-applied as there was a nasty dust speck in the middle of the screen, 2nd try I got the protector over the screen quite well, but the corner that I peeled up to take it off the first time must have lost some adhesive, so I'm constantly pressing it back down (but I can live with it as its in the black "border" section of the screen, and not on the view area)

The Joy-Cons aren't bad, but from my experience the Pro Controller is a really great controller. It's got a conventional D-Pad, not so clicky shoulder buttons, and has much more spaced out and comfortable controls. I'd really recommend it myself.

A lot of people say you want more Joy-Cons for ARMS, but you gotta remember that you don't have to use Motion Controls. That in addition to the fact that the Pro Controller is cheaper than another set of Joy-Cons, I sincerely recommend it.

Aside from that, grab yourself a tempered glass screen protector (I got mine here), and a good case (this has to be hands-down the best one). Happy gaming!
