Do not get cheap ones.At the minimum get the Littman classic, or spend the extra money and go all out for a Cardiology, also made by Littman. While its "overkill" for nursing, the difference is noticeable.
200 bucks on amazon, and if you take care of them, they will last a very long time.

I like this one. Plus, it is not too heavy. Make sure you label it well.
It's a little more on the expensive side but the Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope is fantastic. It's very durable and sensitive to sounds that lesser stethoscopes would miss.
