It's probably carpal tunnel. I have it and it sucks. Like everyone said, do stretches. I switched to continental because my right hand is worse so the movement of the left hand is easier, except for moss stitch or ribbing. Try to keep your wrists straight when you knit and hold the knitting closer to your lap. Try not to grip the needles and yarn with a death grip. I bought these for nighttime.
