How about this?

Yeah, checked the Lightroom benchmarks and that wouldn't have been able to handle it. Ended up going with this Acer Spin 5 which i found refurbished for $530. Seems like it'll fit my needs quite well. Thanks for your help, I do appreciate it.

Hi,

It really depends on what money are you prepared to spend with it - from you're requirements you could do with a budget of 600-800 dollars.

Well...I'll give it a shot - based on your requirements I have made this noteb search

You can see and change the search parameters using the "Refine results" button in the upper-left part of the search results page. You can also click on the laptops for more information.

I know you said you don't care for 2in1 but if you want a touchscreen maybe you'll like it: Acer Spin 5 SP513-52 (2018) - Intel i5-8250U, Intel HD Graphics 620, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, 13.3 inch display - made of aluminium, 3.53 lbs, a battery of over 8H - you can find it around 710$ on amazon - I don't know if it's to your liking but it's a start :)

A really popular option within your budget would be the Acer Asprire E15 for $580. It's a solid option if looking for a SSD and interested in a very long battery life with okay gaming capabilities. It runs with an Intel Kaby Lake i5 processor, 8gb of ram, a 256GB SSD, and a GTX 940MX dedicated GPU. The Acer is a 15" 1080p display (TN), weighing 5.3 lbs, with a 12 hr advertised battery, with that backlit keyboard you mentioned wanting.

Another machine you could look at would be the Lenovo Ideapad 510 for $540. The main difference would be a 1 TB HDD instead of the SSD, and a slightly better display.

To give you a good 2-1 option, this Acer Spin 5 has good specs, with a good battery and favorable reviews. You would be sacrificing most of the performance and gaming capabilities in favor of the portability and display. Always something to consider.

I'm still looking for a 2 in 1, browsing through the black Friday deals. I guess acer spin 5 seems a good option? But it has a 7th gen i5, and I heard that the 8th gen has some major improvements?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01NH2Z5MX/

In short, how much would a cheapest 2 in 1 with 8th gen i5 and a 256gb ssd cost?

Thanks! I'm actually looking at the SP513-51-53FC model because it's for some reason cheaper on Amazon despite having better specs (at least for me) but I have to imagine the same reasons for choosing the other model translate to this model.

Secondly, I have reposted the request here as per your advice, and I have redone the questionnaire here in order to more accurately reflect what I am looking for.

Acer Spin 5

I bought the Acer Spin 5 last year and it's been nothing but great for me. I have the older model that has an i5-6200. 8 GB of RAM, 256 SSD. It's small and light, 13" 1080p screen. The one I have is a little heavy, all plastic and metal top. The newer models seem to be a bit thinner. Mine has 2 USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0, however the newer models include USB C.

I paid about $550 for mine as well. It seems the prices on Amazon seem to fluctuate from retail to much lower. However, it is worth the money if you are willing to pay a little more

I use it to dual boot Windows 10 (installed by default) and Ubuntu, which I use to host my Apache server and it works great. VMs run great in Windows as well, got some Linux VMs on there too and everything runs great.
