If you want to use it for photo editing I don't recommend that laptop - it's configuration is good for that price but it's display is not that great for color rendering (has a sRGB of 60%) - Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G.

I always opt for a display with sRGB over 80% for photo editing - here are some options in your budget: noteb search

From what I see in the results you don't have a lot of options...could you consider a smaller display? a 13 or 14 inch? if so -check this out: Acer Spin 5 SP513-52 - comes with a Intel i5-8250U, integrated GPU, 256 SSD, 8 GB RAM, LED IPS display, 16.7M colors, 90% sRGB - and it's made of aluminium - you can find it here: amazon from 730$

Ha ! now I reread you post - "I’m used to the terrible display and color of my old laptop " - I think you should go for something with a better display - if not - that acer E15 suits you fine ...

I am not very well versed in the European market but i know the acer spin 5 2017 version is available in Europe. It should be somewhere around that price. Maybe a 1000.

you really don't need a dedicated GPU and since having a 2 in 1 and touch screen is a plus, id suggest you get the Acer Spin 5

Also, isn’t the acer spin $731 on Amazon? According to this link. Assume you are in the US of course.

  Either way I think all three Zenbooks here have higher quality displays than both Acer models. Closer to 90% sRGB rather than 60%. Though aside from the UX330UA they all cost more. They should all be similarly fine at multitasking, and for the ones with USB-C ports but no HDMI/DisplayPort you should have no problem finding an adapter.

I'd recommend either the Lenovo Yoga 720 or Acer Spin 5, both are excellent general use and programming laptops that are 2-in-1s. They runs Windows 10 Home. They do have touchscreen displays. Visual Studio should run great.

Thanks for the suggestion! Would you say for sure that the 8th gen 1.6 ghz i5s perform much better than the 7th gen 2.5 ghz 1.5s?

I was also considering these configurations of the acer spin 5 and Lenovo thinkpad 370. Would you say the swift 3 is a better option?
